failed; the extremely rich, who make their money at the expense of the not extremely rich (after all... how can they have so much more unless so many more people have less) are still extremely rich and likely to remain so. As they have had control of the USA (and lots of other countries) for a long time now, it would appear the system is working fine. Indeed, the gap between the super rich and the rest of society is widening, so it appears that Capitalism is working even better than expected.
Communism doesn't actually have a track record to speak of, as it has never been properly implemented on a large scale.
