I've raised a petition about this, but the GM who's responded seems convinced that it's a sound issue!

I'm undocking and about 30-50 seconds later the client crashes, sometimes bsod and mostly back to the desktop. The bsods are picked up by windows error reporting as Audio or some other unknown driver.

As I do windows application development on this machine too by debugger call stack shows trinity.dll calling something, either internal or in DirectX.

As for the drivers - I started having this problem after the last patch and went through 3 different NVidia drivers, three sound drivers and a mobo bios patch Shocked and still no improvement.

For me the only way to run Eve is to put it in ugly low graphics mode and squint for home-made vertex smoothing! Crying or Very sad

Vista64
E8400 (OC'ed)
8GB RAM
8800GTS 512 (G92) (OC'ed)
X-Fi Platinum

Zero, nada, 0 problems with EvE playing 2x Full screens alt-tabbing or 3x Windowed mode while browsing all premium content enabled.

But my Vista is as clean as they come; tweaked OS with a massive amount of services/useless apps removed, latest drivers, anti-virus & games... nothing else. And that's considering I have the worst possible sound card for Vista (Creative Labs are being morons about Vista drivers).

Vista 64 + Win XP Pro (dual boot)
9950BE
8gb DDR1066 ram
Dual Nvidia GTX260 (in sli mode)

Drivers installed with no issues:
175.16
177.41
177.83
177.92
178.13
178.24 (current)

Software installed which Caused Issues:
Riva-Tuner (every now and again would cause games to crash - not forcing v/sycn on the settings seemed to cure it!! No idea why though Confused)

N-Hancer ( Now this really screwed my system up! Changing any settings on this would cause driver failures so had to remove it & all sweet again! note Had similar issues with this when i had an 8800gtx but not as extreme - would get crashes after 1hr of gameplay but not always after the same length of time!)

PhysX (The first 2 or 3 driver releases of this were totally unstable! Caused all sorts of random crashes & lockups! Left it un-installed until the latest 178.24 driver release (comes bundled with it) & no problems to report as of yet. note PhysX is only compatible with the 8 series & above - remove it if you using the 7 series or under)

On a final note, don't forget to check all your Motherboard drivers are also up to date (you'll be surprised how many people forget to do this!)

**edited bit**

On the sound issue, used to have issues with Eve & sounds about 3 years ago (realtek onboard sound), but have had it disabled since then!! Did re-enable it a few days ago & have had no issues so far (onboard Soundmax through SPDIF / Nvidia HDMI sound (which requires a stupid bloody cable from the mainboard to the gfx card) / AD 1988 )

I have had SERIOUS problems whit EvE game play since last patch.Crying or Very sad
I must have tryed about everything there is, and sometimes it just got worse...
I even tryed to update me realtek sound drivers, but had to do a backroll on it couse it only made it worse.Crying or Very sad
I HATE forums, REALLY bad so i was sick about having to use it and spend lots of time reading up on it instead of playing...Evil or Very Mad
I had issues about windows not showing content, buttons just dont working. Chat freezing up, convos and warning windos comming up blank. And undocked, overview never show anything, to something that i knew wasnt there... Right click in space didnt work, left-hold meny didnt load and such things...
Belive me, i have petitioned it all, run log server and dxdiag and sendt them all...
Well today its sunday and i havent got any answers yet, couse i send it on friday night. But last night i saw a post about Nvidia PhysX, and checked it out.
Ya, i had it...Shocked
Uninstalled it and started up EvE again...
Suddenly i could play again... NO PROBLEMS at all...Very Happy
I run:
core2 Duo E8400 @3.00ghz
2GB DDR2 Ram @1066mhtz
XFX GeForce 9800GTX x2 in sli link.
Realtek onbord HD sound
OS is now 6 days old and all drivers are up to date

Me thought is, if ur having grafix problems, check if u got the PhysX installed, and use add/remove to uninstall it... if its not the solution u can always reinstall it...Wink

178.13 works fine here, but note that my GPU does not support hardware-based PhysX. I'm also using EVE Classic, because the FPS hit on Premium is too much for me. System specs:

MB - Asus P5Q SE
CPU - Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550
VGA - Leadtek GeForce 7950 GT
RAM - Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 DDR2, 2GB
Monitor - Dell 2407WFP
Sound - Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer
Disk - Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 ST3320620AS

this what i got from event viewer:

Faulting application exefile.exe, version 5.11.0.63763, faulting module blue.dll, version 5.11.0.64059, fault address 0x00055516.

its the same info about the last 3 crashes.

after lots of playing and testing with Nvidia panel control
i have found the cause/solution for my crashes it was the AA(anti aliasing) modifier. i noticed that if i set it higher then 2x, eve kept crashing at the gates. i also tried playing around with the other modifiers to find a combination that will let me set a higher value for the AA witout crashing eve, nothing helped and i had to set it back to 2x.

Frustration, is the word.
I hav estruggled like many others with Eve lately. i have tried several drivers from Nvidia (currently using 178.24) but i still can't play for more than an hour, before the game crashes (usually when i undock), with 1970 pseudo colors/smeared graphics and the game simply hangs, forcing me to reboot.
I have reinstalled my XP, i use the boot to safe mode to uninstall drivers before installing new drivers.
I have the latest mobo drivers and xp SP3.
I have run prime95 to stresstest my pc and it found nothing. My temps are fine (both GPU, CPU).
Im simply running out of options. Note, EVE is the only game i have problems with. It runs Warhammer Age of Reckoning fine.

I have a 8800GTX gfx card btw.
Seems im forced to put Eve on the shelve or use an older pc to run it :/

My Eve also crashes at random leading to the hated Driver not responding message and the eventual computer reboot cause nothing else works.

My specs:
SLI Xfx 8800 GTX
6Gigs ram
Vista64 HP
Driver 178.24

Im having this issue with several other games too, but much less infrequent and in some cases only involves me alt tabbing the game

I'm having a similar issues as well. Eve loads up gets to log on screen goes black computers goes into a restart thing but doesn't restart, and also I'm starting to experience this in other games like fallout 3 so yay. Rolling Eyes

(why is it stuff like this happens after you pay for three months of eve on all your accounts?)

I put anything i could to application controlled in the Nvidia control panel, I haven't gotten the driver not responding error yet and i have been pushing even with 2 accounts alt tabbing back and forth, docking undocking jumping etc. But this morning I got a blue screen (too fast to see what it says) and it immediatly proceeded to restart my computer. First time it happened when i started the second copy of eve, but then it happened while i just opened Vlc while having one eve client running.

Scrap that, after about 4-5 hours of no errors i decided to start my second eve client, shortly after the dreaded Driver stopped working message popped up with all its features( reboot etc)

Thats with the latest driver at this time, 178.24
Sli 8800 GTX xfx
6 gigs
and Vista 64 HP

Once my second eve client reaches character selection it freezes up the computer and forces a reboot. This is both clients being run in windowed mode

reverting back to a December '07 driver fixed all of the problems i was having for anyone with similar issues

vista 64
8800 GTS 512
Q6600 cpu
4gb ram

i had upgraded to the latest 178.24 driver where i encountered:
-inability to run in windowed mode without severe FPS loss
-inability to run premium graphics without crashing
-inability to run more than 2 clients at once without severe FPS loss
-slow response from mouse input, i think from interface lag from low FPS

downgrading to vista 64 169.25 forceware drivers fixed all of these issues

I get random lock ups after leaving the station using a ATI sapphire 4850 card. Updated to the new drivers 8.11 and still the same problem.
