I have 2 problems I need help with

1) Graphics when you press ESC in game and the menu comes up with graphics, sounds etc options to play with if i press graphics all text in game turns into hiroglyphics - restarting pc, deleting cache directory nothing works you have to delet and reinstall to fix. - no real issue for me i dont go in there anymore

2) MAIN PROBLEM - Sound or the lack of it.

I hear the menus openin & close i hear warp engines I hear female voice talking i hear music - but thats it - i dont hear lasers or any other kind of sounds like when fighting pirates it all silent no lasers shooting no sounds of ship being hit etc nothing.

I have checked prefs.ini and audio = 1 so i am meant to hear sounds but i dont.

I have an inbuilt sound card on mother board I have no idwa how to check if it has 12 hardwar slots free NO IDEA at all.

what can i try to resolve this.

1.) Enter the Config Menu (press ESC), go to the graphics tab. All your text will turn to shlobber. You can still see that slider there, though, try moving it to the left. At some point (about -0.04) the text will come back.

2.) Maybe HW Audio acceleration doesn't work for you. Open your prefs.ini (in your EVE/cache directory), and add (if it's not already there) the line:

That should turn HW accelerated audio off, maybe that fixes it for you.

Ciao, Aronis!

I have the same audio problem. I have a Creative SoundBlaster Live! Card running under windowsXP.

The sound effects don't all play. Most notably the bang that you get just after you move into warp.

There's a bang when you go into warp? Maybe I have this problem too. . .

Only reason I know I'm missing some sounds is because I have Eve installed on another computer (same soundcard but running win98) and the sound on that machine is much richer.

Its very strange and I know I'm going to have problems getting to the bottom of it due to probably lots of folk with the same configuration not knowing what they're missing!
