Dare I say.......

It just might be time to split off a shard for EVE if the lag can't be reduced.

I know I know.....but what other REAL choice do we have if we can't play with the lag as it is? Its quite obvious the technology can't keep up with it.

Eve is already "Sharded" it's called nodes, problem is they run too many ss on the same node/server and only one cpu can run one ss.

It's called a crash and not a node reset because it actually crashes. Data is lost and the rollback happens because it's brought back online with the most recent available data. There are no killmails to retrieve. Most people who have been through one of these know that when you log back in you need to be ready to react to anything because it's rarely what you expect unless you were safespotted alone in the middle of nowhere

The maximum population in the solar systems on that node was well below the cap.
Is this confirmation that it is a node cap, not a system cap?
No, this is not such a confirmation.

Is that a denial then?

Don't mess around Wrangler, we are already annoyed enough without you trying to be clever and hiding behind semantics.

What is the cap?
Does it apply to individual systems, or the node that they are running on?

If you don't know, say so.
If you aren't allowed to tell us, say so.

All we want is a little honesty, transparency, and respect.
Is that too much to ask?

You must be joking. You guys do soo many stupid things to this great game. Its like someone built a great basic game, a great product and then sold it to some amateurs.
Is this REALLY the best you could come up with???
Seriously you will lose a LOT of players if you dont set your priorities. Maybe now you realized the game is unplayable if youre not mining alone in an empty system.

Also this is the first time i seriously thought about leaving eve and you amateurs CCP to have your "fun" and ruin it, cause this whole thing is a joke. And i know i'm not alone. CCP you should sit down AGAIN with all the lead devs, and come out with a REAL sollution very fast!!!! We dont care if you dont sleep for the next weeks. Because what you're doing with this lag thing since some months, IS A JOKE!
Not letting me log in cause a fleet entered my system? I cant jump cause a fleet entered the next system on my route? WTF?! You must be kidding...

Well one idea that would also be a easy fix to control how many people there are in a system is after so many minutes of being inactive log them off. there's no reason to stay online if you've been inactive for over an hour, for all of you thinking WHAT ABOUT SCOUTS!$!$ , easy just throw a . in a chat somewhere. Most MMOs now-a-days do this and most people are used to it if they play any other game.

PROs

Less people in systems
reduce server load
you can tell who is and who is not online in your alliance/corp.

Cons

easy ways to get around it
no-one likes change, even if it helps everyone have a better user expierience.

P.S. I'm sure this idea has come up before, but there's no reason not to bring it up again.

CCP:
"Ladies and Gentlemen, please do not go to Jita."
"Please friends do not go to Jita."
"Please do not go to Jita."
"Don't go to Jita."
"do NOT go to Jita."
"What part of do not go to Jita do you not understand?!"
"Okay, thats it, population cap weekends for jita!"

Seriously they have always asked people not to go to that system after it reaches a certain point and are constantly ignored, they finally make a move for the betterment of most of the community on the weekends and people flip out. Newsflash, it isnt the end of the world that you cant go to Jita on sunday for a few hours!

Mate, what youre saying here is totally ok, except this thing is not only applied to Jita. If it is then mea culpa for all i said, but i have no idea why ccp has to wait with solutions until something really bad happens. 2 years... 2 years is a looooooong time of doing nothing that actually solves the problem.

This basically illustrates the problems many of us have been seeing from CCP as of late. If I wanted to walk around in a sci-fi mmorpg I'd play one of the many sci-fi mmorpg's that have walking around as the main form of transportation.

Fix the lag first mmmkay?

edit for more stuffs : Don't give me the whole "different server, different dev team" crap. Eve was and is still an internet spaceship game. Since they're doing the whole ambulation thingy to get MORE subscribers I can only assume that

a) They are fazing out the spaceship side of the game or

b) They found a rather large deposit of crack somewhere in the office and are inhaling with wild abandon.

Damned if they do and damned if they dont.

We players need to learn not to mass in such large numbers. Maby now we will start to see people selling alot more stuff outside of jitaSmile

It is until all those hastily formed newb fleets reach the desired territory they want to lock down and all dock up. Don't even say they are not on the move right this second. Wink

However all the rest of the people in this thread who have no 0.0 assets to defend should not be affected in any real way and are just trolling for the troll of it. I'm doing just fine atm in empire with no lag or traffic advisorys hampering me in any way or form.

TBH your either not thinking the limit thing out, or you just know what could happen? I mean your asking for AGGRO as it is putting a limit on the system. Now people just might push the limit to max - Just to **** off CCP - Major people trying to login. there should be something in the programing giving people login option :"PULL DOWN MENU": giving them option to log in. Maybe I should be the one getting paid!

Yes, and he's the puppet master too ... making them dance, all them puppets, screaming "Dance puppets dance!" So when somebody else gets all semantical on you, really, it's him on the strings. It's all a big conspiracy. You are SO right to not admit you made an ass out of yourself and attack the puppet master back instead .... so right indeed!

What happened with economic penalities in crowded systems? CCP was going to introduce increasing tax etc. if there are too many market orders in system. It would fix Jita lag. I know it won't fix fleet lag but at least it will reduce the problem.

How many systems actually get up to Jita level populations other than Jita? Its not a conincidence that they deploy this on a sunday, one of the highest times for Jita during the whole week.

Besides, this so called "keep your enemy out by maxing the population in a system tactic" that people are fear mongering about is a joke.

1. At most you would only be able to keep it up for 23 hours assuming you even got enough players to all log on for 23 hours and sit in a single system, good luck to that in the first place.

And if you DID manage to do that in the first place, considering that the bulk of an alliance would all be in place to max out the population limit of a single system would mean that the territory everywhere else would be lightly defended if at all, meaning easy pickings.

2. It would only last for 23 hours assuming the node didnt die or CCP didnt act, IE once the server comes back up the enemy at the gate will race in and your back to where you were.

This is, pure and simple, population control of Jita and has been a long time coming.

The limit seems to be around 800.

I hope it can be lifted soon again. Why was it implemented for every system in Eve anyway and not only for Jita? I mean, the cap is meant to affect Jita only anyway, isn't it?

that would contradict what the devs said something in the line of "the limit is set that only jita is realistically affected"
