It appears a node died which is why you're seeing the traffic advisory. This is not connected to the system player limit though.

How long has iot been since we saw a node crash like that?! coinkqydink? possibly but i think not!

Of course it is thier making. CCP owns and created the hardware. They are reponsibile for its maintenance and the code that runs on it. No one else is to blame except CCP. Get it through your thick skull. They are the ONLY ones who can fix it.

So if You computer fails at work and you lose a report, your boss can blame you? You know, since you operated the computer?

Node crashes are equipment failures. Not every contigency can be planned for or prevented. In the little perfectionistic world of your mind I'm sure you can imagine never having a crash, but in the real world it just ain't so. Sorry.

So in the meantime 0.0 alliance PVP becomes an RTS "rush" game. Log in, jump in, hold, ASAP. Not sure what to make of that. I expect some people are going to get burned by this soon.

Actually, the last one I remember is a few months back when Racketeers tried to take down a hi-sec POS. That got a LOT of people hot under the collar. Razz

Few obvious exploits

1) To defend a system simply fill it with your pilots so no enemy ships can come in and if any are in killing them and replacing their number in the system with your ships will effectively exclude them.
2) To conquer a system use the same method as 2) but make sure that you bring a large amount of ships into a system just after downtime ensuring that you have the numerical advantage

Suggestions

a) Put this under concord traffic control and make it so that there is a steadily increased cap with reduced system security status to no cap in 0.0 outside the juristicion of Concord and Empire completely.

ccp asked me to continue my thread here, so here goes.....
While I understand that you guys are busy, your customer service support stinks, to blanket mail petitions that equate to 'we know, nothing we can do, you cant play the game that you, the consumer are paying money for, and we want to give any explanation, or time line that you can play the game that you are paying for.'
These Explanations/responses would/should put a company into ruins. So if you guys out there think that ccp needs to up its game/customer service, I think we/you need to explore the other mmo's that are out there, and give ccp its sign of recognition with your feet. It may even force some of us to get rl friends.
For all the can I have your stuff tards, the answer is no, I may attempt to come back after ccp has sorted its house/priority's out.

Wouldn't it have been nicer for a little early warning so those that wanted to move out and find a non busy system could do so, or at least had an opportunity.

I think the biggest reason for the uproar and emo tears of CCP DOOM, was the fact it came out of the blue, with no cause or reason. Why today? Why not months ago? Why not next month?

Why was there no notice given to the community? Was this measure a reaction to something else behind the scenes that required immediate action and attention?

You should let those nodes die. Really. Making cap on player limit is very bad for alliance warfare and you should realize this. Or shutdown EVE for a week to patch it and give one week for free after the patch is applied.

I see you've never had an office job before? Yes of-freaking-course your boss can, will, and SHOULD blame you. If you don't back up your freaking data how is it the company's fault?

I've seen it happen many a time and I fail to understand how its not the person's fault just because it was their hardware that failed and not their body.

You'll need about 1,000 pilots, I believe, since that seems to be the cap. That's hard for any alliance to muster. And to keep them there continuously? Haha.

Usually documents are backed up on a central server after everyone goes home, silly.

Oh, and if you mean "saving it to disk", I'm talking if that fries. In which case, you are screwed. And since most typically don't back up documents to a central off-site facility WHILE THEY ARE WRITING THEM, I think that my statement stands.

Servers USED to be great when the MAX players was 10-15k.

Now the servers are ****, and that is all really, no amount of forum posting is going to fix it, whilst CCP try to pull in more and more and more players using every method they can and do nothing to increase server capacity that works (Trolls read i said do nothing to increase server capacity THAT WORKS, that means they done stuff, but not good enough)

Alternatively i don't see that much of an issue that 800 people cant fit into a system, in fact i dont see an issue with 150 vs 150 - hope it lags to hell. MAYBE THEN PEOPLE WONT BLOB :)

But, something kind of "semi" pro-active needs to be done. More than lip service needs to be payed to people not being able to function doing day to day activities like NPCing, Mission Running, Trade and most importantly SMALL GANG PVP. If the game is so bad you cant even do them things then, as i said, something proactive needs to be done...

I agree. My theory is that the nodes for low-sec and 0.0 are getting stretched thinner and thinner to cover more systems as more and more hi-sec systems require more and more nodes because of burgeoning population. Which sucks. Confused

Wow ... great idea ... it's a double edged sword.

Lol this pretty much ruins null-sec warfare if I read this correctly. Say BOB fill a GOON system when GOON are log-off-ski and no GOON can do anything while their POS's are being reinforced. (Whatever, this is an example)

Way to go CCP on a fail idea.

first of all, horrible way to do this ccp.

secondly, i find it rather amusing that BOB members are complaining so much over this since there was not a single bob member that complained when bob's capital shipyard was attacked and someone at ccp put a cap on that system so most attackers wasnt able to jump in.
its funny to see how fast some ppl forget what they have said once it turns against them

Hey, do us all a favor.

Tell us when you plan to have a solution in place that can actually handle fleet battles of around 100v100 or 200v200. I do not want any technical details etc. You must have a idea if you are planning to make fleet pvp viable in todays 0.0 enviroment.

Just tell us how far towards a solution you are. Are you still on the drawing board? Are you almost there? Are we looking at a few months or a few years or a few decades?

With the amount of players required to cap-out a system, it's highly likely that BoB wouldn't even be able to kill more than 1 POS before lagging out.

You know, just like every other Goon/BoB battle.Rolling Eyes

Completely incorrect. Historically, form posting is the only thing that has proven to give results. If anything, there have been too few forum posts about 0.0 lag.

Remember when amarr were by far the worst race in eve and when lasers where unviable. It took a massive forum posting campaign before finally CCP fixed it. Just now, lag is a major problem. Thats perfectly understandable.

So rather than talk about the problem, lets talk about the solution. How far are CCP to the implementation of something that can make fleet warfare viable? Are they 10% there? 99% There? Have they even hit 1% yet? Are we looking at a few years for a solution?

OK Let us all go over the pros and cons over this TEMORARY FIX (But we all no CCP's version of time is warped..)

Pros:

Less lag , no more dysyncs to the targeted servers.
No more geting stuck, because you cant jump in. (Less work for CCP)

Cons:

Although there is less lag in target system the nodes are still crashing...

CCP Wrangler:

"It appears a node died which is why you're seeing the traffic advisory. This is not connected to the system player limit though."
(Do they not even know anything about there own fix?)

If you loged out in Jita , you probly cant log on untill the severfix has been changed..

Goodluck geting into jita anymore...hope you dont have any trading to do..
If you are in Jita , congradualations you now controll jita market!

As for 0.0 systems , there is a large forcast of goons and bob exploits heading you way watch as they poor into your sov owned system and close the gate with the uber numbers and super pwn your POS's wile you sit idely in the next system with a defense force , petioning CCP to let you in to defened you system , as they reply " Its a fecher not a bug , sorry there is nothing we can do."

This of course make PoS war stupidly obsolite so i gess thats a Pro , realy seeing as Pos bashing is so boring unless your drunk in Goonswarm and dicide to pop you alliance mates.

BEHOLD I AM GOD

I FIX YOU NOW!
