Unless a *different* sci-fi/space combat game with more compelling gameplay mechanics is released soon (nothing on the horizon IMO), then EVE will slowly bleed users to newer releases of all genres if CCP don't get their act together and fix the problems.

Maybe there is enough emo rage to build a FOSS clone of EVE, although I don't see how a community-run/free project could afford the hardware/bandwidth (well Wikipedia does).

Russian roulette with an automatic? It's kind of short lived though.

New game would be: "Get a noose and hang around."

Eve is growing and evolving like never before. There are plenty of players that want the kind of play style Eve offers.

You want a unique experience? There is no other modern, complex persistent world out there, sorry. Everything else is instanced.

Eve is the kind of game you play in cycles.

Most larger cities have a few bars or nightclubs with names such as "The Closet." Alternatively, you can go to a public restroom, sit in a stall, and tap your toes. You don't even have to be a Senator.

I know of nothing even on the horizon that can replace EVE.

Which of course is the very reason you're wrong and Eve ain't dying.

If that's the curve of a dying game I want to own a dying game too please.

the end of eve is not really a death. more of "everyone who cares about a good game has left by now". it's, say, 2-3 years off.

i used to think eve was a highly flawed game with good intentions. now i think of it as a highly flawed game with questionable intentions that's not worth sticking around for.

i'm just wondering if there is a game like eve used to be. if not, tribes and diablo II are still around.

Age of Conan.

No wait, everyone who said Eve players would all move to that was dead wrong because nobody can actually accurately predict these things.

Age of Conan is in worse shape than any game I have seen at launch. People are leaving that game in droves because of the way Funcom is running it.

And whoever has said that all EvE player's are stuck limiting their enjoyment to EvE ? I know at least a dozen other games which have nothing in common with EvE and are nonetheless appealing. It's like saying that because you like blond chicks you'll never fall in love with a brunette Wink
