While watch my hulk slowboat to a rock to pick up my mining drones after a disconnect, I had this wonderful though.

What if.. you could right-click on a dead drone in space (any dead drone, not just yours), and instead of having to get within 1500m to scoop it, you could just directly take control of it as long as you had enough drone bandwidth.

Would save lots of time recovering from disconnects for those of us with less-than-stable internet connections...

I had the same idea a while back. I think it should take a few seconds to take control (based on skill). This would also allow some interesting pvp maneuvers, domi warping around gate while attacking you with drones that are vulnerable till he reconnects with them.

Perhaps make a rig or a module with + 20km drone scoop range?

/signed, but there should be limits on this - for example, you can't take control of a drone outside your drone control range.

Why not simply allow items to reconnect by default when you get back in range.

1) Emergency Warp after D/C. You return, and recall your drones before the rats pop them.

2) Warping away manually, forgetting to recall drones.

3) Cloaking with deployed drones causes loss of connection. Decloaking would reconnect automatically, leading to entertaining "bait drone" tactics.

4) D/C also renders deployed Probes useless. Reconnect would save expense of using 500 Probes.

i endorse this message

ive been scanning for a hidden asteroid belt in a system for liike 3 days now, and CANT find it, 1.) because my solar system map is pretty screwy , and 2.) the only remedy to it is to re-log, which means i lose control of the probe

although i do konw that it would cause a bit of a problem in lag, because then people would leave probes in space, so, maybe after 10 minutes if you dont reactivate your probe, then it dissapears?
