At 19:00 eve-time daisho scouts reported a mixed Vandetta, and Black Hand alliance Remote Repairing Battle Ship fleet camping the BWF gate. They then warped 250km away from the bwf gate to stay out of gate gun range.
Daisho and Kia pilots then begin to rally to engage the RR Battleship Fleet. After a bit of verry good positioning a KIA cloaker got a warpin (great job)for a Daisho heavy dictor, it then scripts one of the battleships in the enemy fleet and opened a cyno. Vandetta and Black hand BS fleet engage the dictor.
The 1st to Hot drop were daisho. Friendly thanatos jumps into the middle of the Vandetta and Black Hand BS fleet to rep the dictor.
Vandetta and Black counter hot drop with 10+(?) capitals, with some dread support from Roadkill. Exact enemy capital numbers were unknown as Daisho and KIA counter-counter hot drop 10 more capitals and 20+ friendly support on top of the fleet.
Enemy capitals who were not pointed or in siege then began to jump out of system, thus not knowing exact enemy capital numbers.
One of our carriers was then repped back to full shields, and various capital and support primaries were called. What ensued resulted in Daisho and KIA holding the field.
Vandetta and friends lost 3 dreads and 3 carriers, plus RRBS support fleet.
Daisho and Kia lost 4 various support ships.

Operation Surprise Thunder didnt play out as planned.
I must give props to Daisho and friends for being able to commit this many caps on such a short notice.
It definitely overburdened our forces and, with the element of surprise and the fog of war on Daisho's side this time, this skirmish most definitely was won by Daisho and KIA.
To the OP:
The 250KM "outside-of-sentry-range" Holding Point was meant to be.
We wanted you to come out and counted on a HIC to light up the cyno and drop 8 carriers - it was by no means any type of surprise to us.
Everything worked out as it should have except the KIA capitals, which took us by surprise. So did the sheer amount of caps you guys commited.
We didnt destroy a single BS or Cap from the opposing fleet, which is a shame and proof that our forces lacked the confidence and did not remain calm enough to adapt to this new situation.
But - we learn our lessons from most any skirmish and will overcome.
Mission planning will go to a higher level to eliminate the fog of war as much as possible and to prepare our fleet pilots.
I am looking forward to the next time our capitals meet, hopefully with a same-size or manageable strength.
We love good fights and even though this one is hard to swallow, we will continue to strive to become a force to be respected.
Again, GF to those involved!

Was a very good fight, credit to Vendetta, they came and brought a very nice fleet. Lovely battle and as someone said in here, its not often you see fights like this anymore. I know Vendetta will learn from any mistakes and bring the fight again GF  |
