Hi, I've been playing the game now for 2 months and absolutely love it. I'm not 100% happy with my character choices however for both my main and my alt account. The alt account is a no brainer to re-do, but I am wondering if it is worth it on the main.

What mistakes I have made, and the direction I want to take the character in, if I started now would take as long (I am guessing) as it would to simply re-roll. I was wondering if I can get some feedback from others who have been in this spot.

Should I just work towards my goals with what I have or am I not far enough in the game to make that big of a difference if I re-roll my main now?

Thanks for your advice!

I suppose it depends on the mistakes you made, but if it's merely a matter of training the wrong weapons or ship types, consider that your new character will take as long (or longer) to train those skills as your current character would to stop his current training and start fresh with the desired skills. In addition, you will still have any supporting skills already trained, such as learning/engineering/etc, which you would have to retrain on your new character.

One good reason to start fresh might be that you want to be a combat character, but built a character with a very low perception. In this case, you will end up ahead on SPs very quickly if you rebuild your character.

That having been said, you are not terribly far into your career, so if you aren't happy with your character for any reason, starting over now won't hurt you too much, regardless.

The younger the char the less it sucks to re do it

What were the mistakes you made ?
If you scammed a lot and stole you're corp fleet, it might be a good idea to create a new char in case you want to run an eve bank or ipo. All depends on what you plan and what the mistakes were, if you keep that secret noone can give you an advice i guess.

You're funny ;)

Couple of reasons actually: way sub-par character concepts; no planned direction in my skill points as I didn't know where and how I wanted to specialize; ambulation is coming soon and I want to ensure my characters are the shiznit in person as it were; heavy mining skills on Minmatar alt which I want to pew pew with; heavy ship skills on Caldari that I want carebear with; mis-took skills all over the place on main.

Nothing so drastic as you suggested. Sorry, I know your dissapointed. ;)

Thanks for the feedback from everyone so far - much appreciated!

Guy I know started a female char, joined a player corp and just hated being referred to as a girl all the time. Six months in he rolled a male char and ditched the old, never looked back - still playing three years later.

Point is, a lot of people end up playing longer than they expected when first starting out. And looking back, a coupla months probably won't matter to most.

If the problem is "trained the wrong skills", then you are better off keeping your character, considering that if you've trained some learning, and some core skills, you are already ahead of the game. If the issue is that the starting attributes were wrong for what you wanted to do, or you would like to play a different face because you think your character creation choices of race/gender were wrong, then a respec is probably in order.

So what if you "trained some combat skills on your carebear alt" ? that just means you can run missions while you carebear it up. So what ifyou have some industrial skills on your main? You don't need to drag your alt halfway through 0.0 just to reprocess some loot.

Consider "How long would it take me to take this character on the direction i want" vs "how long would it take me to take a brand new character in the same direction" - consider skills like learning, hull upgrades, mechanic, electronics, etc that you may already have trained, that you'd have to do all over again. You know, all those annoying 1-3 hour long skills that take forever because you need them before you can fly x or y.
