I know if you are very very close to a rat the defenders won't have time to get to your missiles before they hit.

Any chance of my missiles getting past when shot from long range if they are a lot faster than the defenders? I'm guessing the defenders will still hit in a head on collision but hoping if I get them going fast enough they can sneak past.

Has anyone actually tested this?

I have about 14 million SP in missiles, and I can tell you that other than extreme close range defenders will always hit inbound missiles.

They work, the problem is how they work.

From my experience, that also depends on the NPC's quality. Certain NPC's have slower defender missiles, even at medium ranges they can miss. Some NPC's have very fast defenders and can hit your missiles even at very close ranges.

You can never avoid high bounty targets defenders if you are not in extreme close range.
