Armageddon, might have one less turret slot than an Apoc, but it has lots of drone space for heavy drone defense.

I'd advise you to get more into the PvP side. Join a PvP corp, get trained and get out there and enjoy yourself.
You'll never have less to lose than you do right now. Sure, getting podded is a risk but if you're not willing to take the risk then you're denying yourself (imho) the best part of the game.
If you're happy to zap rocks all day, then good luck with it. Perhaps join one of the mining corps that will provide the protection so you can go for an Apoc and not have to worry about loading heavy drones.

Yep the Apoc is the best mining ship for you to get into. I hope you dont get into an apoc and a full set of implnat and then never leave 0.5 space. I'm sure there's a lot of people who do this. But honestly I think that PVP is one of the best parts of this game. With an apoc and good drone skills you make enough mining scor to have enough for anouther full set of implants. And remember its only pretend money and your enjoyment of the game matters more then the pretend money you have. I say at least try PVP a few times, though right now I can see a full set of implants being pretty expensive, so wait till you have a decent bank roll if they are that important to you.
