Well, the other day I noticed an elderly lady coming out of a popular supermarket in my area with a trolley full of groceries...I opened fire on her car as she was departing rendering her vehicle motionless in the car park and proceeded to take said groceries. I took off in my own car but unfortunately I was intercepted by the police who also shot up my vehicle. It was all good though, I got out and walked off up the street and had a mate pick up the groceries.

Edit: I'd just like to clarify that I don't believe because you shoot people in-game you'd shoot people in real life. The game is designed with the intent we shoot each other and so we do. What I'm referring to is behavior. Griefing, taking pleasure behind other's misery, taunting, ridiculing, insulting, belittling, are all examples of behaviors I specifically refer to.

It's easy to shoot some pixels that are being controlled by another player. Shooting them in RL is a different matter entirely and there are not so many as yu'd think who could actually do it. Ask anyone who has been in the armed forces and fought in a war, it's really hard to point a gun at someone and pull the trigger knowing you are taking a human life. So many freeze up at that point and just can't pull the trigger.

As for the rest, it common for people to do that, take a look around at how frequently it goes on. How many times has this been used on you to goad you into a fight? It's quite common that this sort of behaviour is used to goad people in authority into reacting which could cost them their jobs. Don't try this on a police officer though, they can do the same back and are usually better at it. The problem is that they have the full power of the law behind them when you reactSmile

More or less the same. Fairly 'goody two shoes' with an overdeveloped streak of fair play. (Hey, I'm Gallente for a reason here!)

what im in ingame is not what im in Real Life. thats why i play this game... to get away from real life. its great... you can be a ass and get away whit it. dont have to worry about work problems and other real life problems... even if i only get a few hours a week its enough :)

i keep the game ME separate from my RL ME. its quite good as it keeps my addiction also under control :P

EDIT: and those idiots who claim that ppl who act evil ingame are mentally disturbed because they want to do it in RL but cant beacuse of the rules... are the ones really the disturbed ones. its a ROLE PLAY GAME.... you are mixing real life whit a GAME... you guys should go see a shrink... eve does not equal real life.

so that i killed someone in a GAME means im a potential murderer in real life.... bloody hell

EDIT2: acctually when i think about it... yeah... i sometimes feel like kicking the **** out of some of the ppl i know... but i just live my anger or hate out in a game... i dont leave it in me... not health for the body or the soul. if i get the crap out of my system... i feel great and i can deal whit them ****ers again so i dont burst and kick their face in.

its usually the ones who keep this hate in them, that end up being the killers in real life. the just burst at one point.

Thank you for proving my point so eloquently. That was perfect. You do it here because you can get away with it. If you were a jerk in RL there would be RL conequences. I'm not saying anything about "OMG, I SHOOTZ PPL IN EVE NOW I'M GONNA BE A MURDERER IN RL." That's a falehood anyway, in EVE there is no death. Only the inconvenience of losing some isk and possibly some SP. You come here to inconvenience someone, because you were inconvenienced that day, taking a little measure of revenge and releasing your negative emotions. Thats healthy.

EVE life, I have been a noobie care bear, blown to bits in 0.0, done the merc work, playing the pirate that will blow you up if you donít pay me.

RL, fairly well composed father of 2, have a stable family, have a job I like, never been the bully or had my head down the toilet.

Why do I blow other peoples ships up in EVE ? Why do I take other players isk in EVE ?

Why do actors really like playing the bad guy in movies ? Why is often the bad guy more fun to watch then the hero in the movies ?

Perhaps we are all brain damaged, I donít know, but its fun, pure and simple, I donít need to hate you to ransom you, I donít need to hold a grudge against anyone to blow them up, its EVE, a game based around blowing other people up.

Fine, there might be mentally ill individuals playing the games, but, not every pirate that kills you for the five hundred and one time is a lifeless maggot sitting the parents basement feeling angsty over having had there underwear pulled down throughout all his school years.

EVE = PVP Game = your **** is going to blow up.

In eve I am a total a**H*** Yes sir, I will ransom you and then after you paied i will kill you anyways. I will call you childish names, provoke you, and become a general d*ck in local chat.

But this is not how i act in Real Life at all. In RL i am charming, nice, and handsomeLaughingRazz Is this NORMAL???

How do you act in eve compared to RL?

I want to know!

Yeah, if you look up darwin awards, the whole story about the nano car is there, guess he dident fit it with any nanos at all, just the MWD and a a bunch of overdrives, go fast in a straight line and dident care about the handling or stopping distance Rolling Eyes

In EVE I play as a character. That character plays to the rules of that society, not RL society. In EVE there's very little retribution for anything so it naturally leads characters doing "bad" things.

I decided for a week or so to salvage wrecks in missions. Apparently this made me a thief in real life and the sort of person who would murder somebody given the chance to get away with it. Rolling Eyes

Now i'm not perfect (I may have a sherry or two at the weekends Wink ) but in game and out of game are two very seperate things for me. Whether I'd be different out of game given a different society to live in I don't know. In my opinion anybody who says they know how they would act having been brought up to a different set of rules is talking out their a*se.

Anyway Neaghan does not equal Me.

Well said Rihoe. Although I'm less of an arse than you ^_^

I don't get the whole Game Violence leads to RL Violence bull. Anyone who does shoot someone because of a game for whatever reason was already mentally disturbed imo. Its like parents complaining GTA/Manhunt/Whatever has too much violence, don't let your kid play it then.

I detach myself from RL as much as possible before playing eve. And what is done/said in eve stays there :)

Eve is a dark, cold and harsh place.
RL is worse. Much more worse.

So Eve is all about having fun and relaxing.

I don't think I've changed very much since I've started playing eve, although recently I've developed a thing for hanging around doorways with friends and punching people as they go through.

sometimes they even drop nice stuff Very Happy
