I was just wondering. Since 2004 when I started playing the game, at this moment there are tons more of "trolling type" topics. I remember back then when all the topics had a good idea, serious discussions, etc.
Right now it looks like the average IQ dropped bellow 90

Signal to noise ratio is the same, just a higher volume, thus the stupid posts are higher in quantity.

Such is the price of a more "mainstream" community.

Game forums are like the canary in the coal mine.

When the game starts to suck, they are the first thing to die.

It's not a lowering of I.Q., it's a lack of new and interesting things in the game.

You're seriously overestimating people.
IQ of 100 doesn't even guarantee a coherent response - 50% of the general population lies beyond that.
Generic EVE idiots might as well be below 110 IQ.

Running the same mission over and over again has that effect on people.

I do admit that I have been burning too much opium incense sticks, but it's good to cool off.

...as for the rest of the community, I guess that the more people play, the more trash pops up here and there.

My IQ drops every time I read one of these threads. Eventually It'l be so low I'll be compelled to make threads like these too!

It's how it goes... Sad

While I agree somewhat with your sentiment, I tried a little experiment. I went back to the General Discussion forum, scrolled to the bottom, and hit Last. Then I went backwards... 1 page. Guess what I found.

A post from 2003 - Why I hate these forums

So I agree that things seem a bit trollish lately, but I also think memories of the past are often exagerated. Wink

yes apparently people forgot this

`Never argue with an idiot - he'll drag you down to his level and beat you with experience`

i forgot about it too, and started replying to trolling threads, only to pointlessly bump them and feed the trolls.

sometimes it's hard to not press 'reply' ...

Its much better now than 6-12 months ago. You should have been here then... just a big whine shrine. Faction Warfare has brought much new to talk about, and its mostly positive.

Oh, and IQ has nothing to do with who trolls or not. Its more a personality thing. Smile
