In common with the other forums, Missions & Exploration will be having a bit of a spring-clean in the near future.

Included in this will be a review of the rules for Missions & Exploration, so if you have any suggestions or any sites or threads you wish to highlight to be added to a resource thread, now is your chance.

Please post below with any rule change, new rule submission or resource.

First of all, I think that the official mission guide is incredible.

Here is a good resource about data centers (aka how to get fast faction standings with isk/tags):

I don't think you'll get any suggested rule changes, missions are pretty boring and the missions forum reflects that :)

A "bugged" sticky listing missions and sites that are currently broken so people dont waste their time with them.

I'd suggest inclusion of mission setups, to save hopefully us all from the endless Raven and Dominx setup threads both here and in "Ships"

To what end I suggest these as being included in the resource sticky :


Exploration quick guide (is one page with a nice short table on probe ranges for those like me with a goldfish memory)

I would like infos on how the analyzer and hacking modules run. All guides only show how to find explo sites, kind of sites, but nuts on the mechanism of analyzer and hacking tool.
Do those tools only work in COSMOS missions ?

In terms of rules for this forum, might be good if people put what level mission they are referring to in thread titles, rather than just "Worlds Collide help needed" or something. Normally it's L4 missions of course, but sometimes there is confusion.

And maybe a glossary since there is some terminology which is pretty much only used here like AE for Angel Extravaganza or WC for Worlds Collide.

This may be something for the whole forum and not just this section....

It would be nice to have some 'tags' you can put on your thread, and then be able to include/exclude threads in the overview by those tags.

For this forum group I think obvious tags could be:
Ship Setup
Mission Guide
Exploration Guide
Faction War
Help Requests
(and maybe others.....)

The tags would be static per forum group (but different).

I had hoped it would be ingame items you were looking for, but as a mission runner myself I would like to be able to select my missions from a mission console rather then the here is you next one option.

Also selecting more then 1 mission at a time for a given agent would be nice to allow for more time fighting missions and less time docking up to get new ones.

After that I would love to see "STICKIED" guides in the mission forum for running scanners, what kinds of sites, how and when to use codebreakers and other tools most people have no clue on till they are in the middle of it without one Smile. Ship fitting guides for missions would also be nice as well as the "this rat type does this damage" for the new guys as the veteran players have already figured that part out.

I would never want to see level 5's moved from low sec to high sec as it would make farming faction a lot easier and thats one thing I don't really like to see, unless you want faction things to be more in game.

This may not be the place, but faction equipment needs to be looked at. The CN launchers are actually better then the tech 2 versions, but the AN pulses arn't as soon as you take 1 level in the spec skill (they need a 10% dam bonus to compete).

I see many posters have ignored your request and posted changes they want to see in game! Anyway, may be a bit late for this, but as requested here are three suggestions for links in the sticky:


This is now the best place by far to look up missions and plan for encounters. No other mission resource site is a patch on this.

Orekaria's NPC Damage Calculator:

I've found this to be a great site to work out how much damage to expect in missions. Simply add the number of mission drones and hit the 'report 2' button to get full Em / Exp / Kin / Therm damage breakdown. You can save NPC groups (for example L4 Recon 2 of 3) and there is also a handy (but incomplete) pre-compiled mission list to work from.

Derived standings changes

I worked this up for my EON missions guide and the link gets posted quite often. There is an accompanying page providing details of how standings are calculated.

Thanks! Most of the info in there was taken from my EON mission guide, though it has been updated to refect game changes since the EON guide was written. Which reminds me... I really do need to update and post my guide...

I would like a sticky for a mission creation guide (was discussed in another forum, havn't found a link yet).

A place where players can get info on the following:
1: How to create a guide (design and/or implementation).
2: What tools are required (if any, might be notepad is enough).
3: Where or who to send the mission suggestion to.
4: Inspiration and support of how to make missions.

For those offering suggestions in this thread, they are better off in the Features & Ideas forum - here.

I suggest one person volunteers to put all the ideas together in as few threads as possible, preferably one - it will help the relevant devs.

A FAQ would be a great idea, work together on a list of questions and we'll link and answer them.

I think a problem with missions in particular is that they change quite frequently and the information collected by players in most sites are either out of date, not accurate or are missing a lot of missions. A problem with missions is if you are not prepared for the mission you go in and you don't know what kind of rats, how many or what surprises they come up with, you will often die.

The problem is there is no real complete resources and most are more unhelpful than helpful.

Is there any chance CCP will maintain some kind of worthwhile database on missions with some kind of way to get a basic idea of difficulty and type of opposition? Most of the most common asked questions about missions are frequently recurring because the resources are badly out of date.

I know I am posting to this thread a little late, but I wanted to make a comment on the missions guides and request for set ups.

Forgive me if I offend anyone, but the mission changing is a good thing. No guide out there should be able to tell you exactly what you need to do to complete a mission because every mission should be different.

In real world situations you should get reconnaissance from an agent such as enemy, location, terrain (meaning are there things that will prevent micro warp, or obstacles such as an asteroid belt), estimated force size, and an estimate of weapon and ships you would be up against and if your lucky an estimate of other forces in the area that may reinforce the enemy in the mission.

The biggest problem with missions is that they are the same.

My suggestion for future missions would be to make triggers different every time a mission runs. I find it funny how the enemies forces all stand around and watch their buddies die and donít attack until their group is attacked. I would like to see enemies enter the mission based off of spawn triggers. It adds a little more real world excitement into the game as there is no way they would sit around while their comrades are destroyed. In most cases there should be no way for us to know what will trigger the new spawn.

Making the missions less stagnent with a slight element of surprize each time they are run would make them more of a challenge and a lot more interesting.

One other rule change would be to put a few low quality LV5 agents in high sec. We should not be able to solo a LV5, but it would be nice to do a LV5 mission without getting attacked by Player Pirates.

If getting LV5's in high sec are not an option the payout on a LV5 needs to get looked at. Right now it is hardly worth the effort of getting a group of people together to run them due to the risk of getting attacked in the mission by player pirates. The player pirates should be calculated into the payout. Maybe it can work like a high risk bonus for running a mission in low sec.

To answer a previous post by another player----KNOW YOUR ENEMY!! The weaknesses and weapons of each faction are known and as long as your agent could tell you the enemy your up against you will know exactly what to fit your ship with for max protection and damage.
