I'm about to start training up covert ops, and I'll have it in about 15 days. I'll be flying a helios (although its now the ugliest covert ops ship ever), and my plan WAS to fly an arazu. But the more i hear about the falcon, and the more i read about the arazu being gimped, I'm having second thoughts about flying an arazu when I move up to recons.

So I've got a dilemma. Do I stick with the Arazu because my tanking and weapons system skills are set for it, or do i cross train to fly the falcon because the falcon is so much better than the Arazu?

I wouldnt really mind crosstraining, because good shield and missile skills will help me anyway, but i want to know if there is that big of a difference between jamming and damps.

The Gallente recons, while they aren't quite as good as they used to be, are still very useful and powerful. Consider that with recons 4, you can fit warp disruptor IIs and get a 43km scram range, and your railguns can easily hit that far.

If you want to fly the lachesis to any standard, you will need some missile skills though.

They're both useful, but falcon >>> arazu in usefulness, specially for fleets.

The arazu can tackle with survivability, a ceptor can do that. It's not bad, because it can also deal damage and damp, but I wouldn't spend 100m in a ship for that.

The falcon can disable an entire fleet itself.

EDIT: And yes, ECM is considered way better than dampening.

Luckily you dont have to, they suck so much they are down to 70m / 30m Very Happy Seriously though although they arn't THAT bad and can still be usefull generally other ships do it better, they need some attention. Sure they can tackle at long range but an inty can get / stay in range and will be harder to kill. If you want to be most usefull train for falcon if you have more fun damping + scramming go for gal recons.

My Arazu is god...

You have to choose your fights, but with come common sense they are basically uncatchable and you only lose one if you fly it stupdily. Without doubt the most useful ship i'v ever flown and its the one i fly most often.

Couldnt recommend it enough.

Others will tell you its gimped after the last 'boost' but they clearly fly it wrong, mail me ingame and i can send you my main setup.

Of course, there's only like 4 people in the entire game that fit their arazu right. Any ship can be dangerous - it says more about the person than the ship. Get over yourself.

That said, I used to exclusively fly the Helios/Arazu. Now I fly the Falcon for my ewar needs.

You on crack?

yes, the falcon is very powerful if used right. But it does NOT disable an entire fleet by itself.

IF the opposite force bring the right ships for the falcon`s jammers, and they dont fit ECCM and we are talkin optiaml conditions here now, it can jam 7 targets...

Following conditions will have to be met then:

Fleet = 7 or less targets Laughing

Sensor strength on any ship must not exceed 14 points

Falcon must stay 100km+ off the targets so it`s doesnt get kicked over by drones. Drone modules etc.

Hostiles must not use FOF`s.

Hostiles must not use ECCM.

1 correct racial jammer for each of the 7 ships.

Must not get damped by a sensorboosted arazu or lachesis...

Apart from that, yeah it can take on entire fleets... Rolling Eyes

Stcik with Arazu.

Train Recon V.

With all the moaning about damps the 52km scram range is solid gold dust...especially partnered with a Curse, Pilgrim, or Rapier.

If you handle small gang more than fleet....you'll love it.

If you fly it properly, it won't make a shred of difference if you're primary or not. Anyone that tries to shoot you will be jammed.

I have an expirience that might give you more to think about. I am told that the Pilrim is supose to be the best Force Recon ship in the game. Here is one that got killed by a Vexor and a lachesis... To the Pilots suprise.I was even sent a eve mail thanking me for a expensive lesson. Of course I lost my ship not 15 minutes later to a 3x BS 2x Cruiser gate camp hehehe.. So I would say get a wing man.

The arazu is the best tackler in the game IMO.

Jump into an enemy system, they don't see you. Find out where they are, point and damp, they can't fight back, gang jumps in and pew pew pew.

<3 arazu.

Lol, I think I'll end up just going with both eventually. Crosstraining would also give me good shield skills and missile skills, which I'm going to need for other ships.

Thanks for the help though.
