This has never actually happened to me and nor would I wish it to have happened to me. This scam greatly reduces players incentive to work in teams or to make friends/allies with people they don't completely trust. People that are genuinely offereing help quite regularly get told where to go in local because everyone seems to think everyone is doing this :|

The sooner this is removed the better.

I do not support this proposal. Quite the opposite. The Lofty scam has endured for far too long. It's an obvious and unintended disgusting use of game mechanics for the sole purpose of griefing in the most back stabbing and cowardly fashion possible.

The Lofty scam should have been gone a long time ago. Well done, CCP. Better late than never.

Anyone ever notice how much Pwners cry when CCP fixes loopholes that result from unintended game mechanics... but when rational human beings point out real problems (insurance, login traps, etc) they are flamed and called whiners and get the "welcome to eve" line flashed in their face?

odd.... Cool

Scamming should be allowed opportunites like ransoming. There should not be a system for ransoming, it's indirect nature is what makes it fun. Nobody needs to help others do missions. Missions are easy enough as it is.

edit: to elaborate further, the fact that people joined gangs when there were warnings/popups that told them the gangmate was in a war is stupid. The fact that they joined shows a misunderstanding of high-sec rules, which is completely different than an abuse of a mechanic. If you invite someone to your gang however that is at war is what the issue was about if I'm not mistaken. Simple rule, don't invite people to your gang. If your flying a CNR you should probably know that. Is that such a big issue. Some newbie needs help as in a real corp, ask them to invite you first to see the warning.

Ignorance is not an excuse and should not be supported. It was basically an awareness test.

So mining exploiters (jetcan mining) get extra aggro rules to deal with theft , but highsec pirates playing on gang mechanics get smacked down ?

It is only fair that the war target warning works in any circumstances , but removing this mechanic altogether is another gift to pure carebears.

I'm curious to see how command ship alts will affect highsec wars , too.

This issue will get no traction, nor should it. Look at the big picture here. CCP is not doing this out of any particular love for carebears or hate for high sec pirates. They are doing it because they realize that faction warfare will be a total flop if people can't trust each other in forming fleets.

Realistically, between preserving a specific type of scam and promoting a huge and greatly anticipated feature like faction warfare, which do you think is going to take priority? In the dying words of Mr. Spock, "The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few."
