So I am one of those players who enjoys the storyline of a game more so than sats. As such I created an Amarr/Amarr religous reclaimer. I recenly reactivated my free trial and have recenly learned that although my choice was fun for me- I have attributes that are not terribly useful in this game.

It is clear that Skills are unbalanced in terms of which Attributes are used for what. For example, Perception is clearly unbalnced. This in turn means that there are a few powerplay races and a few Races that are the red headed step children of Eve.

I look arround and see the same Race over and over again. The entire Amarr empire is full of Khanids alone. Should I just restart and jump on the band wagon? Or are the training time differences in the end not enough to be of major concern?

You've hit the nail on the head here. After several months, the extra SP they have matters for relatively little.

If it did, then all the killboards would be dominated by Achura by now.

Really depends on you personally. Do you want to make the most of your time get in the new ships and train things faster? If so auchura wreck. Khanids are pretty close up their also I believe. You can always roll play what ever you want such as a auchra who works for the ammar dynasty because they would fit in and make sure their allies are kept in check.

Have a look at this thread: Starter attributes study.

I think you'd be hard pressed to find even one Amarr Religious Reclaimer in the game. 14 Willpower and 4 Perception pretty much means you'll be taking twice as long to train as anyone else. How patient are you?

The question you should be asking yourself is: what's more important to you, the story or your real life time? I'm not sure there's any content that you will be able to access with that character that no-one else could (or is there?), so you might as well go Cyberknight. Really, the only time you should be choosing those obscure start-ups is if you're creating an Alt for a specific task. Your main (combat) character should just beef up their Perception and Intelligence and be done with it. Cyberknights are one of the best, if not the best, combat orientated start-up options in the game.

And a little less Perception, for example, will make a difference when you start training those month long skills like Cruiser V - 1 Per more would equate to about 1 less day in a month long training session where Perception is the primary attribute.

I do not see the point in having any of the cool storyline at all during character creation. It only serves to punish players who would actually be interested in it. No where in character creation did it tell me that the vast majority of skills I need fall under a single attribute (perception). No I am not whining iether- I am too new at this game for that.

From a noob standpoint- why not seperate attribute points from racial choices altogether? You might see the faction census even out. Isnt the next big patch faction pvp related?

I don't see the point either. I think you're better off talking to to some RP people about this. Get their perspective.

Well, like you, I chose my Minmatar/Rebel/Spec Ops character for RP reasons - I liked the backstory for the character. I guess i just sort of randomly chose right, as I have balanced attributes (linked off my sig).

Personally, to any player asking what character they should pick, I always say choose one you can live with. Sure, Achura may have the best attributes - but they're damn fugly. So if you can live with your character selection, then you've made a good choice.

I'd stick with your Amarr/Amarr character, coming from an RP myself I think you get more fun out of the game going off the easy track and making a name for yourself. Willpower is used mostly for leadership skills and related areas, and secondary for numerous skills, stick with it, too many Khanids anywaySmile.

I would ignore the social class on character creation, go with the stats you want then just RP the charcater as you want it. Theres no reason you couldnt make, say an Amarr Wealthy Commoner who has truned religous. Then just go with the skills you want. For example I only fly amarr ships and refuse to cross train on principle.

And remember you never know what the future holds...

There may be many skills with massive ranks that need charisma in the future and all the achura's will be in a bad spot.

That being said i picked my main a caldari-Civire-??? dont even remeber anymore based on playing around with the character creation screen when i first started having no idea what anything ment.. my base are

int 7
mem 10
charisma 6
perception 9
willpower 7

Dont know if thats before or after the random atributes.

Anyways i would never change them as i am very happy with my characters training times there are no skills that take me forever to train (well i dont have charisma learning skills up so maybe a few of those) i would hate to have a base 3 charisma and train gang skills even if in the long run i saved time training those gang skills would feel like hell and who wants that?

Anywyas you never know whats in the future do you want to gimp a character by going to achura and having base 3 charisma and find out you need that for the rank 30 skill needed to become jovian? (lol well thats a stretch but you get what i am saying)

If you are happy with the looks of the character after learning skills you are not that much slower and may be alot faster in some departments.

True Amarr have the option to have really low charisma.

That's a good thing.

I chose khanid cosmetically.

I would love to play true amarr too, but I'll wait on that until I train this one up to the point im satisfied at. That might be soon or never, you know how that goes.

I actually have created an amarr amarr, but he's just going to sit there for now.

I don't know, I think I lucked out. I joined Gallante because their ships looked the best and I got exactly what I wanted.

Faction with dronage and railgun bonus startout (Which was really helpful)

I was a Gallente Gallente Immigrant, so I don't remember what I started out with, except Perception, which was either 14 or 15 base. Really useful to train drones and ship command.

Careful what you say there. The character creation tool clearly explains which attributes effect which skills, but yes it could be clearer that perception and intelligence are the main ones (give samples or suggestions).

I picked for RP/"cool" reasons and I got a nicely balanced character except for low willpower and high memory.

I'm Gallente Gallente, Miner, Military, Special forces. I'm very happy I picked the way I did, as I think Gallente ships are the coolest and I like drones. I also like the background and Gallente culture.

Base attributes are
Per: 8
Int: 8
Mem: 12
Cha: 8
Wil: 4

IMO, pick whatever you think is cool or want to role-play, then try to balance your attributes out with your free points. You can eventually learn any skill and improve your attributes by 15 points, but you're stuck with your character's background forever.

Religious Reclaimer isn't too bad, as long as you use your 5 custom points as 3 Per/1 Int/1 Mem. You've got low Charisma, 7 Per/14 Wil (which is slightly better than the standard Achura 9/9 for gunnery/T1 ship skills and way better for T2 ships), and 8 Int/7 Mem, which is not optimal but also not bad at all. If you're picking for RP value, you could do a lot worse.
