This: hyperspatial velocity optimizer

will increase your ships warp speed.

and most gates are 100au+ yes?

be fair - there are a few occasions were it's helpful but on the whole the warp distances are too short to matter.

What should be done is making ships accelerate and deaccelerate faster while warping, so that the difference between faster warping and slower warping ships becomes more important.

This is absolutely the answer IMO.

I'm not sure if this is a covert troll, faster travel might be good for the player, but it isn't good for players.

Warp used to be 2au/s on all ships, and maybe it was smart to differentiate cruisers and frigs some, but we don't need instant travel.

Furthermore, the HP increases means that travel time as a function of combat time has effectively been reduced. Its now much easier to bring reinforcements to a fight and harder to pick a fight with a smaller force and kill it before back up arrives.

If anything needs to happen to warp speeds it would be to reduce them[or make smaller ships accelerate when in warp faster]. But it certainly is not to increase warp speeds.

Reducing travel times reduces the need for traders, wiping billions off their bottom line, not to mention cheapening ore etc etc. In fact reducing travel times basically changes the entire game. Try and see beyond the tip of your nose.

I think the warp times shortened to 1/4 (warp speeds x4) would make absolutely EVERYONE happy. This change would not affect gameplay in any negative way (I'm open to your oppinions here)

Yes, it would. WTZ + HP buffs already made bait/gank tactics the prime way of getting kills, simply because support gets to you very very fast.

So, no to shortening travel time.

I'd like to see Tech 3 technology liberate the game from being a jump gate snore to have real FTL space flight with jumping reserved for very long distance travel.

Utilize dead space more, have a lot more interesting things to explore, discover and blow up. Then T3 pirates would fly in smaller fast ships which track down ships and waylay them in real space combat not this lets kill this dude in 2 nanoseconds with a dozen ships because if we don't then he will warp/jump away.

I don't have a definite answer but I think CCP should look into this issue and rebalance (boost) warp acceleration times.

In my opinion, warp speeds are too slow. Essentially, the warp itself, taking so long, does nothing but confusing other people scans, and making people waste their time.

They make finding PVP hard (which affects pirates) because they have left when you arrive there.

They make carebear's life a pain, because they have to warp back and forth for their hauling and thus spend lots of time.

They make 0.0 fleet ops boring as most of the time is spent warping.

Here's my opinion: your concept fails on every level possible: practical, theoretical and ethical.

Donít be ridiculous, this would adversely affect gameplay. Ever heard of splitting up a hostile gang by getting them to warp back and forth over long distances to pick them off one at a time? It's a sound tactic, you just destroyed it for no good reason...

Still don't see any valid reasons for this being needed at all.

There are a few issues touched on:

- The OP wants total warp time reduced (faster warp speed and accel/decel)
- Some people are saying that warp time should be increased (sloweer speed and accel/decel)
- Some people think that there should be more differentiation in accel/decel and speed between various classes of ships, and rigs could accentuate this

Reading the latest replies, I knida agree with reducing warp speeds and differentating accel/decel between ship types to favor smaller ship engagements.

I thinks stuff like interceptors should be able to "accelerate" into warp quicker but not travel faster in warp.

Personally, I like warp times as they are - In my fast inty, if someone warps away - I'm waiting for them when they come out

So no change. Kthxbye.

Theyre fine as they are.

As for the acceleration differences, sure you would think that inty is fast and bigger ships are slow, but the big slow ships also have bigger engines. The engines give tons more thrust compared to frigate engines, but the ships mass doesnt make it faster than an inty. So the only difference imo is the agility of the ships - the align time. Which is fine also.
