As a supercap builder, you have several options for getting your materials into position:

1. Move and build everything yourself
50+ freighter loads per titan, 15+ per SC. Needs tens of billions of capital for the component BPOs.

2. Buy the components pre-built
75+ freighter loads per titan, 25+ per SC. The components take up even more space than the minerals needed to build them, but you save on build time and capital costs.

3. Use compression
3 freighter loads per titan, 1 per SC. Optionally, combine with a Titan / SC bpc pack, giving you substantial savings on capital costs as well as hauling.

For details of the items used for compression, please refer to this google doc. You can make a copy and use it to get a rough idea of what's possible. Asking me for a quote will almost always result in a better option for you - see below. For further information on compression in general, see the wiki page.

Revised price scheme

Total order cost = Batch fees + Mineral costs + Logistics costs + Admin fees

Mineral costs: Jita sell prices (zero broker fees paid).

Batch fees: please refer to the doc linked above for quantities per batch. Larger orders qualify for reduced batch fees:
  • 1x SC: 11m isk
  • 2x SC: 10.25m isk
  • 3x SC: 9.75m isk
  • Titan: 9.5m isk

Logistics costs: by default, this is what RF Freight charges to move the minerals to Ansila (less than 100m per titan). I can also arrange for the completed order to be delivered anywhere in connected highsec.

Admin fees: For my time spent arranging logistics, calculating estimates etc: 100m + 50m per SC + 200m per titan.

If you deliver all the minerals yourself, only the batch fees are charged. Any factory station in Ansila is ok, but try not to pick one with long queues on all the build slots. I may require you to split the minerals between 2 stations.

Minimum order: 1 SC

Queues & Deposits

When several people have orders queued up, I may request a deposit in return for a guaranteed place in the queue. The deposit is deducted from the final price of your order. Deposits are non-refundable, but count as credit towards future orders.

The queue is strictly first in, first out, in order of received deposits. If someone else in your corp has placed an order but you want one first, talk to them, not me.

Typical deposit: 10bn isk per titan, 1bn isk per SC.

For references, please feel free to contact any of my customers who have posted in this thread.

Current queue status:
Busy, steady stream of incoming orders for supercaps. Last update: 26-9-2010

Production time:
  • Typical completion time: 3-5 days for SCs, 8-10 days for Titans.
  • All trades are via private item exchange contract.
  • Delivery to Ansila, near Jita, is free.
  • On request, I can assign couriers to anywhere in connected highsec. Please allow 48 hours for delivery.

Statistics:

Last update: 3-4-2011
  • Minerals compressed: 281bn units
  • Customer hauling reduction: 2.67bn m^3
  • Sales: 2.12trn isk

Bring Your Own Minerals (BYOM) deals
  • The pricing scheme for BYOM is now the same as for normal orders, except that the 150m isk admin charge is waived. This discount does not apply unless you supply all the minerals, not just highends.
  • I will not make any purchases towards a partial BYOM order until you've handed over your minerals.
  • You should wait until I confirm the amounts needed before buying/moving minerals.
  • Collateral is available on request.
  • 3% interest is charged on any collateral supplied. This is added to the final cost of the order.

Capital ship compression estimates
If you want a quote for a batch of capital ships, evemail me:
  1. ME of the ship & component BPOs
  2. Station base refine %
  3. Station refinery tax %
  4. Your refining skills
  5. Your typical JF capacity (or type + racial freighter skill level)
  6. What minerals do you want to supply? All / mega + zyd / none? (I buy everything else in Jita)
  7. Finally, pick one of the following options:
    1. Lowest overall cost, fixed # of loads.
    2. Lowest overall cost for a given cost per trip - please work out how much each round trip to your building site costs you (pilot time + fuel; a minimum of 50m isk/hr is recommended).

If you know anyone else in your corp or alliance who might be interested, it is often a good idea to contact them first and place joint orders. Anything up to 2 titans is fine, more is possible depending on how much you can pay in advance.

Case study: Nyx

I've recently adopted a new set of MILP algorithms for working out what combinations of items to use. As a result, I am now much more confident that the solutions I can offer are the very best possible.

For example, if you want to move minerals for an ME0 ME 50 Nyx, assuming 100% refine, this graph shows the range of possible options:

Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.

The horizontal gridlines show the load counts for a freighter V Rhea and a freighter IV Nomad.

Another way of looking at this is the cost of the space saving generated by the use of excess:

Please visit your user settings to re-enable images.

You can keep on shrinking things down at a fairly steady isk/m^3 cost, up to a certain point (in this case, about 600m isk, or roughly 5% of the cost of the required amounts to build a Nyx). Beyond this, the savings get much more expensive.

People's freight costs are typically in the region of 200-1200 isk/m^3, depending on how much jump fuel they need to reach their build locations and how many pilots need to be paid for their services. I can take this into account when working out which option is cheapest overall.

Hauling by carrier

As industrials can carry ammunition in their cargoholds when stored inside the ship maintenance array of a carrier/rorqual, it is possible to use them to haul several freighter loads' worth of minerals in one trip. This trick doesn't work with modules.

I've created a spreadsheet that allows easy calculation of the maximum total volume of ammunition that can be carried inside the cargo holds of industrials and barges inside ship maintenance arrays. It's in excel 2003 format, and is designed to be used with the solver add-in. It returns the optimal combination of ships to use for any set of skills, choice of T1 or T2 for rigs and/or expanded cargohold modules. Here it is:

http://dl.eve-files.com/media/corp/KzIg/SMAcapacity%5B1%5D.zip

Example: suppose you set
  • Minmatar Industrial V
  • Mining Barge V
  • No other industrial skills
  • Expanded Cargohold II
  • T1 cargo rigs
You should use:
  • 2x Mammoths
  • 2x Skiff
  • 1x Mastodon
  • Total volume: 1,000,000m^3
  • Total capacity: 105,111m^3

Note: it is not possible to ships inside an SMA if they contain GSCs, and you can't put GSCs inside ships already in an SMA.

The best case scenario, using 1x Mackinaw and 3x Iteron Mark V, with T2 rigs and expanded cargohold modules fitted, gives a carrier (or Rorqual) a capacity of 139,589m^3, which will hold Purgatory torps that reprocess to just over 290m units of minerals.

I've received my first order and I've set the build process in motion. I still have plenty of spare capacity - it accounts for at most 36 units a month, but that only takes me 6 days to build.

The first order is now in production and will be delivered on Sunday morning. I can start building the next lot immediately after that, and I'm still looking for more orders.

Put me down for 20 batches, which should be 1.7b right? Pickup in Jita or a surrounding system is fine, just contract it to me when its ready.

You might want to check the next patch notes as I'm sure I read that there is a fix for the ammo/maintainance issue.

I might be wrong though. Check for your self.

I've read the notes, and I'll quote the relevant section for you:

Quote:
  • A method existed whereby it was possible to store ships with non-ammunition cargo in a Ship Maintenance Array. This has been fixed and it will no longer be possible to store ships with non-ammunition items in its cargo.

  • I'm pretty sure that Citadel Torpedoes are still going to be considered a type of ammunition Wink

Come on people, buy more torps!

Revised pricing tiers have been set out, and I've been able to double my production capacity. It should now be possible to have a 10-batch order ready within 48 hours, with slightly longer times for larger orders.

Another customer has expressed an interest, but I'm continuing to look for more.

Mineral prices have risen slightly, so I've had to adjust prices accordingly. People who didn't buy last week missed on savings of 2m per batch.
