Then came the departure of Bruce from Syndicate and one day they are napped with Huzzah. I had Bruce members and corp CEO's convoing me (I was part of COE leadership council) as to what was going on. I had no clue as Huzzah would not give COE a 10 sec nap to get out. Then I thought of the Fried alt story.....and went hmmm.
I seriously doubt Huzzah nap'd BRUCE at any point in time. Pretty certain the same goes for Exquisite Malevolence and Fire Mandril, I know for certain Notoriety has never had BRUCE set to anything other than -10. We also still maintain -10 for COE and foom now that they've split off. Still <3 Katamarino though, Happy Hour and a few others, FB and edbert still A+ guys
I suggest you check around as Bruce had a one day nap with Huzzah when Bruce was pulling out of PC-9. There was quite a number of COE and Bruce pilots that can attest to it. |

For about 12 hours, and even then some Huzzah members kept shooting anyway. |

BRUCE is still #3 alliance even though they've lost 1k players in the last 2 weeks or so. |

Actually, Total left since - 20.04.08 - 1083 Members we're keeping track Oh and before the alt corp trolls come in. The loss of all these members has nothing to do with PL, I have reliable info that this is all due to "internal restructuring". Have a nice day |

Part of the loss is FOOM leaving, part non pvp'ers packing up to go make isk elsewhere. Eventually a hardcore set of Bruce pvp'ers will remain. |

A huge pile of selfish carebears isn't logistics. It's just a load of people making personal isk who will either disappear or whine destructively when the **** hits the fan. These people are usually the reason the **** hits the fan in the first place as everyone else is like holy **** there are semi-afk npcing ravens and unscouted bs in every system/gate around here. Seems like no matter how many 'industry' alliances rise and fall (horribly), this never seems to sink in. Also hooray for Y-2! |

I left for the simple reaon that im a PURE pVper. Those who knew me could attest that i would always be ina gang, camp, op, SOMETHING, everytime i logged on every day. Hell i was one of those who moved to y-2 just for more shooty. But man, the fleet fits are TERRIBLE for a real 0.0 conflict. It was obvious from the very first time we fielded them that they had major weaknesses. That and the FC's just didnt know how to take advantage of any other ship types or fittings. My sniper maelstrom just collected dust, being told to warp into a gang at 0 in it is just idiotic. Same for the HAC pilots, they were mostly ignored in engagements wherer a hac/recon gang could make a serious difference. Ah well, theyll either figure it out (fast!) or die trying. Lots of good people in bruce though, good guys to fly with (heh and some of them ke3ep in contact). Ill try and make a visit this weekend for a bit of ole-time yarring |

Does seem like PL are helping bruce to get rid of all the incompetant, lazy leeches from inside thier ranks. Isn't it good for a alliance though that they will be getting rid of all the people that can't handle the pressure once things get tough and keep around those willing to stand and fight?

I don't think PL had much to do with BRUCE's current state. You guys just happened to be who was shooting them when their Executor decided to play 'ream the alliance'.
That particular game does way more for crushing morale and flattening membership than getting shot a bit does.

So crushing them in every fight, taking all their high end moons, and destroying their cap fleet had nothing to do with it?

Generally what you've listed is only relevant if the alliance already has internal issues. Effectively preexisting problems were revealed. It is merely a matter of who is there to create the final crisis. Often when leadership bails from an alliance/corp it is a very good indicator of massive internal issues. And no, losses like you described don't count as "internal issues". Listen to Mistress Suffering. *whistles* |

For the record, BRUCE leadership has never banned posting on COAD. Fried's forum sig said something like "Posting on COAD makes baby Jesus cry" and there were other intimations that he'd "eat your face" if you did. And now Fried is no more a part of BRUCE leadership. So there you go. |

Sounds awfully familiar. Except Y-2 in my case would be TA-A7V (syndicate). BRUCE had just surpassed 800 members, which was more than enough to conquer southern syndicate at the time and start making preparations for a move into sovereign space, but instead bruce decided to double its size to 1600 members in 2 months time and cram them all into the 6 system Y4Y constellation (which BRUCE shared with COE), turtling up in PC9 with the other 90-110 blues in local, to ensure the carebears could make ISK. This was important because the number of Battleships a Miner can field is a good metric for determining your alliance's strength during offensive sieges (to take sovereign space), your PVPers don't need isk they can all fly t1 cruisers ofc. Apparently, miners don't spend their ISK on pvp BSes/Caps (who would have guessed?), which is why it was a further 9 months and 600 additional Alliance members before BRUCE finally opted for a risk free avenue into sovereign space. It really wasn't the size of BRUCE that was the problem, it was the manner in which they brought in new corps. Leadership had a forecast for the entire year including total alliance membership threshholds each month, the goals were disturbingly aggressive (doubling every 2-3 months) and the alliance usually surpassed them each month. There was never time set aside for new corps to be integrated into the Alliance and bond with the other corps/members, which is why BRUCE was held together as a cult of personality via Fried. By the time I left he had already started developing his Messiah complex, though I've heard from friends who stayed in bruce that it got far, far worse. Because alliance recruitment was all about quantity over quality and they hit their monthly goals one way or another, alot of the adds were bloat/inactives/carebears. Which is why no matter how fast the Alliance expanded, the active gang sizes (in each time zone) was a marginal bump at best, if anything. Not only were the total Alliance numbers completely invalid to measure the alliance's true strength, but the types of players that were being added were pretty risk-adverse (only X up when its a guranteed steamroll vs opposition). Everyone gives props to BRUCE for always showing up and fielding a fleet (win or lose) but even back in the y4y syndicate days there was a divide in fleet numbers. With 300 in Alliance, you'd get 15 x's for any kind of non-defensive op. 50 for Defense Ops if there was a good chance of losing, 150+ if it was an exercise in baby seal clubbing and a guranteed victory (of course BRUCE found ways to lose some of these fights). ie 200man fleets vs a 10man roaming cruiser gang towards the end of their time in Syndicate with 2200+ members + Pets. As the percentage of the membership shifted from the original players/corps to the newer folks, response times and willingness to engage at less than 2:1 odds plummetted. It's nice to be able to field far more than you need to get a job done, but the attitude shifted to where they simply wouldn't undock until fleet size had overwhelming numbers. That's not really a dig on the corporations who joined later, just saying there was a core group who came from Aeschee and actually experienced Syndicate before BRUCE's size made the whole region EZ-mode. Newer corps/players only experience with Synd(and for many, their first 0.0) was large anchored bubbles on the only exit gate and 80-100+ alliance members in local 23/7 guarding the chokepoint system to the whole damn constellation. Any time they needed to leave PC9 a 100 man escort gang was there 3-4 times a week to take them to High Sec and back, along with 15 freighters of course to haul whatever their hearts desired. |
