So the Caldari are now Caldarians?
What a horribly diseuphonous term. Are CCP perhaps thinking of further retcons for example calling the Amarr, Ammarish? Maybe the Gallente, Gallentic? And the Matari Minmataranese perhaps? |

Hrm, where did you read that? If it exists somewhere it's not consistent with other Caldari names, e.g. the Caldari Navy, would be the Caldarian Navy if the Caldari people would be called Caldarians.
I think... |

'Caldari, I have come before you....' sounds weird, which is probably why they did it.
'Fellow Caldari, I have...' would be ok tho |

Caldari State citizens -> Caldarians Gallente Federation citizens -> Gallenteans Amarr Empire citizens -> Amarrians Minmatar Republic citizens -> Minmatarians (or Matarians)
You know, same way you go from Republic to Republicans. Or from America to Americans. I see no particular problem with it.
Sure, you could call them "Caldarese" or "Caldarinian" or "Caldars" or even just "Caldari" . What would you prefer ?

I'd say go with just Achura, but then I remind myself that only the Caldari playerbase is 90% Achuranitanian--- |

Actually, I was leaning towards "Caldari" already being the plural, and the singular would have been "Caldar" |

Caldari is not the plural of Caldari. So, no, we shall not 'stick' with it. |

I personally felt it was
Gallentean Ammarian Matari Caldari
however, perhaps "Caldarian" is a citizen of Caldari Prime, or New Caldari? Just trying to think outside the box |

It's not a retcon, before the Trinity textures one of the Caldari stations had 'Caldarian Empire' on the hull Originally by: Khandara Seraphim I personally felt it was
Gallentean Ammarian Matari Caldari
This is what I always thought as well, and the way it should be tbh. |

Sure you can call us Caldarians. It's like calling someone a Britisher. You'll get laughed at for saying it but it's technically correct. |

Actually, no. Caldari is the name of the people that make up the Caldari state. Hence, it's full name is The Caldari State. If they inhabited a place called Caldari, they'd be Caldarians. Note that (New) Caldari Prime has "Prime" added at the end - Indicating that the planet is not called Caldari, but that the planet is the capital of the Caldari people. The fiction has always referred to individual Caldari as simply Caldari. One Caldari, lots of Caldari. Gallentean and Amarrian, yeah, right on both counts. When discussing one or more Individual Minmatar, the fiction almost always uses Matari, for plural and singular - Whereas Minmatar seems to be the name of the nation as a whole. This is similar to English, where Human is the name of our species, whereas when discussing a individual human you usually talk about a person or people. This "Caldarian" business is probably just a oversight. |

Edited by: shaqarava on 12/05/2008 19:48:44 As Faife just said, it can just be different words for the same people. People from Britain can be referred to as British or Britons i.e. 'I'm British' or 'I'm a Briton'. I hear it on the news occasionally when Brits get into accidents and what not, the anchor will say '8 Britons were killed blah blah...'
And speaking of which, many people say Brit as well, 'Caldari' can perhaps be an accepted slang, or for casual usage in the Eve mythos. |
