Buddy list .... stays. But let's make it a co-op thing. Both parties agree to be on it, so it's not an intel watch list.

Local .... goes. As I've said before, if we gotto have a 'local' chat, then it's gotto be either a delayed membership (worst case scenario) or a most recent speaker ... which you don't get to see until you enter the chan. Local should not be usable as an instant form of intel, as it is at the moment.

My personal preference would be a 'fuzzy logic' constellation chat chan, in that everyone in the consellation is in there (on a most recent speaker basis as far as chan list goes), but that when you are towards the edges of the constellation you get bleed from the neighbouring constellations. Thinking CB radio here ..... you don't know who's listening, unless they start talking, and it doesn't stop at the state border ...

As for no need for high quality global information gathering systems in non-sovereign space, are you following along with the refresher? Doing so means more blobs, less fights, and less targets[and more lag as everyone jams the scanner every 2 seconds]

As for owning space giving you a right to see people moving through it. That is a ****ty RP reason to change the game. Never use RP as a reason to change the game, change the RP to fit the game. Giving the defenders that info and not the attackers is a massive shift in power towards the defense. Which is bad as currently it is not needed.

I'm open to discussion on how to maybe change local in some way, like a simple number count of blues/greys/reds in system perhaps, but I'm not convinced on current arguments for removing local completely.
