How about adding small ice fields to the Gravimetric exploration site pool.

Just something small, but with a couple of the rare ices in them, like Dark Glitter, Gelidus, Glare Crust and Krystallos but with only a small amount of actual ore present.

Probably something less than 10 for a small site, and less than 100 for a large.

I haven't gotten into Exploration yet, but I have been doing my homework. There are sites specifically for mining ore, and I could see sprinkling some ice in there too for the folks who have trained into something ice capable.

I wonder why they havent done this already...

actually i just thought of it...

if you think about your usual ice field they have a thousand units per ice. A group of guys would take ages to mine one of them. If you brought that to exploration. The site wouldnt respawn appropriately.

More recently... sites will respawn after so much time. So I dont see a problem with it.

SOunds good to me. Make it a passing comet, and with volumes small enough you can finish it in a couple of hours to a day.

Yes, a small amount of racial fuel Ice Asteroids too would be ok.

.... since you can find most of that in low-sec, i think, I wouldn't be opposed to it being found in exploration in 0.5 or 0.6 level systems, rarely of course and of course the ice roids will be small, not the regular huge impossible to pop size.

This could be another step towards moving belts into exploration ...

Racial ice, and some rare ice, in small amounts sounds good to me.

And plz spawn more gravimetric sites, since I haven't found one in 6 weeks, and I probe daily in 6-10 systems.

I like this idea,

it gets the real miners out of the ice belts so we can move all mining to exploration.

Er no, that would move the real explorers to exploration. Bear in mind that the skills to properly explore are considerably more than to mine, including ice mining.

AFAIK the devs are looking at moving all belts to exploration sites.

Somehow I doubt that, unless they also plan to make exploration a heck of a lot easier. Otherwise they might as well just post a sign saying 'yep, macro-mining is the way to go, because no-one else would be bored enough to train that many skills just to mine' (and I speak as a miner). I've also yet to see a dev blog stating the above; I have seen ones where they've said they want to change how belts work, however. It's all about how you spin it.

I don't see how exploration-only belts would make it better to macro. Sorry if you might have to *gasp* interact with someone who likes exploration to get your belt locations, provided you cant be bothered to train up the oh so many skills it requires.

My that's a big chip on your shoulder. You should go have that looked at. I was pointing out that since some of us (clearly not you) are interested in mining, and exploration is very definitely a long-term skill, and mining is one of the key ways new players get started in the game, that it might not be such a bright idea to limit it in that way. You know, game balance and how features might interact across all players.

Training up to use scan probes takes less than a day. No, not the best ones, and not in the T2 ship. Every ship also has a built-in scanner in addition to the directional scanner, which can be used by a 1 day old to find low grade exploration sites. I do mine at times, I like to enjoy a wide variety of what Eve has to offer. I think that moving to a fully exploration-based system would be good for both the mining and exploration industries.

PS would Mitnal like you talking about my chip?

True, making exploration and mining more closely linked might be quite interesting and I'd certainly have no objection to more gravimetric sites, but I think taking it all the way to replacement is pushing it too far.

PS Ask him. As long as you admit you have a problem, you're halfway there Razz Seriously, if you stopped being quite so aggressive & personal in your posting, maybe I'd not feel compelled to respond?

Perhaps going all the way to exploration with asteroid belts is a bit far ...

I'd still like Ice in Gravimetric sites though Smile
