With our upcoming expansion, Empyrean Age, being just around the corner we thought it would only be fitting that the next Live Dev Blog focused on it. Mindstar, our always present host, will be joined by Greyscale from Game Design and t0nyG, author of the upcoming EVE novel, to discuss and answer your questions about Empyrean Age.

To listen in all you have to do is join the in-game channel 'Live Dev Blog' at 20.00 GMT this Thursday, 15 May, and join audio. If you really want to listen to the blog, but can't make it that time, a recording will be made available at a later date.

1.) Are new systems being added to Eve, for this patch?

2.) Assuming this is the "faction warfare" patch, will it be opt-in?

3.) How is "score" kept?

4.) Will there be any new mods, ships, and/or charges introduced to the game, with the new content?

5.) Why cant there be a written transcript of these live dev blogs? Since I can read a hell of a lot faster than you guys can talk.

6.) Can I or some other player become emperor under the rules of the new content?

7.) Is this whole thing just going to be akin to WoW's Battlegrounds? I.E. consensual, instanced pvp?

1) I am interested in information about what the eve community can expect in the way of new content and features that will be coming in the new expansion.

2) What CCP plans to do about the effects on warfare when it comes to roaming blobs of ships in low and null sec. Is there a proposed fix.

3) What the concept of faction warfare is going to be about; how will it run, what are the rules of engagment, and so on.

Well, all I can say about this live blog is that it is bloody well about time. After all, we have been finding out MORE about this expansion in the associated press (for weeks) than from the devs in the "subscribers only" news channels. So, good on you guys for FINALLY getting around to telling us players what we have been chomping at the bit to know about. Ok, on with the questions:

1. Now that we have been told, a mere TWO DAYS before the blog, that this expansion is primarily about factional warfare: Is factional warfare going to contain large amounts of content for ALL players, or just be yet another playground for PvPers as the associated press interviews have hinted at? After all, the devs interviewed in the associated press have outright said that the purpose of factional warfare is to be a "stepping stone" to lead players into hard-core PvP out in null-sec. Is that ALL factional warfare is going to be about? I mean, I like PvP as a change of pace when I have nothing more profitable to do, but most of the people I play with on a regular basis don't.

2. Also hinted at in associated press interviews is the fact that Faction ships are going to be "reviewed" in this expansion. Should we be taking that to mean that Faction Ships are going to be massively nerfed as many other ships were in the last "nerf free" expansion?

3. What role is Zulupark playing in this upcoming expansion? Specifically, what is he being put in charge of "reviewing"? Of all my questions, I really need this one answered the most. I need to know what he is "touching" so I know which ships, mods, or other player owned items I need to start dumping out of my inventory before they become worthless due to the hack-nerf job that is going to be visited upon them.

4. When is CCP going to start acting like a REAL software company and start doing its OWN Q&A? I am sick of CCP depending on the people who are already PAYING them to donate EVEN MORE of their time to help CCP test the product they are selling. After 5 years of (most) patches being deployed poorly, (or worse) I would think that any person with half a brain could see that the current testing process (i.e. using the customers) does NOT work. Move on to something else for Pete's sake. While you're at it, when is DT going away as was promised over two years ago? Yeah, consider #4 me yelling at a brick wall for all the good it is going to do.

1) In a sentence or two, what is the "Empyrean Age" expansion?
1a) So is this Factional Warfare?
2) What does CCP think this will bring to the game?
3) Can players opt in and out?
3a) If so, is this imediatte?
4) Are there any new tools or methods of feedback so players can see progress?
4a) If so, is this available both in game and out of game?

1> Will Empyrean Age solve existing performance issues like when using a multi-monitor setup, classic clients that still need severe system upgrades, etc (all known as being posted by many people on several occassions) rather then just adding again a bunch more new features?

2: Possible overhaul for drone warfare?

OMG finally, been waiting for this so long Very Happy

1) If someone joins factional warfare, can he be killed of players who joined the opposing faction everywhere in empire (like if it's a war-declaration status) or is factional warfare pvp limited to lowsec ?

2) Tell us about stats/rankings/highscores/medals etc., will we have some longterm goals to achieve in terms of pvp and pve, and what special benefits will we have from serving well a certain faction ?

1) Are there any plans to make possible formal associations for pilots? (Linkage).

2) What is the current development status of the Factional Warfare and is there any estimated release date already? Will this expansion include it?

3) Have you considered the inclusion of "arenas" for consensual/controlled PvP environments within Empire space, and if you did, what's your stance on this and why?

4) Are there any plans to implement ship crews in the future? What are your thougths about this?

Will you include any more graphical updates in this expansion, such as effects, POS modules and asteroids.

Will the Border and Highway Gateways be deployed and how will they work comapared to current gateways?

1) Are we going to be seeing any of the Intel Updates in this Expansion? Scan Probes, Directional Scanner, etc. Scanning out Cloaked vessels or Cloak Disruption Fields.

2) Can we expect to see any further improvements to the UI? Giving us more information with a better use of space? Especially the HUD, Chat Interfaces, improved display of target information in space.

3) Which ships are you planning to tweak this time and how?

4) Will there be any change in our ability to use Jump Clones more than once per day?

Since it is only speculation to discuss the content of the Empyrean Age prior to the novel's release, I would like to ask how much of that content will appear in-game and in what form? (vague percentages acceptable)

I can imagine expanded tools/items/interface/etc. on the technical end, but what about news items, events, and missions related to the changes in the plot of the world, in which the players can participate?

what kinds of industrial changes/improvements will be in this next expansion? in particular how will the following areas be affected:

a) mining - new ships or other tools? mining UI changes? new ores?
b) manufacturing - any new blueprints?
c) R&D agents - not just for datacores anymore?
d) invention - new stuff to invent? Tech 3?
e) acquisition of T2 components - moon mining changes? new sources?

if factional warfare is being released:

1. will there be any motive for 0.0 alliances to get involved?
2. will there be ways to contribute to factional warfare other than combat? (for example- mining, courier, and trade missions)
3. will there be any new kinds of missions?
4. if any kinds of "PvP missions" will be added, will the players need to use their own ships and fittings? if not, could they use their own if they wanted to?
5. will faction warfare affect the same NPC standings that are already involved with storyline missions and hi-sec POS anchoring? or will there be a "separate" kind of standings that can only be gained/lost through faction warfare? (ie- prestige or honor)

misc questions:

1. level 5 agents:
a) will any new level 5 agents be added?
b) what about level 5 mining or courier missions?
c) what about level 5 R&D agents?
d) back when level 5 agents were being introduced, there was talk of level 6 and 7 agents. are they still in the works, or have they been canceled?

2. will any new exploration content be added? in particular, will there be anything new regarding archeology and hacking?

3. is there a larger hauler or "mini-freighter" in the works? or at least a "mini-rorqual" or maybe a POS module, that can be used to compress ore in hi-sec?

Faction, I think, will be a big part of this expansion, so my questions are:

Will it be possible for players to go all the way to one end of the spectrum (-10 faction) and back easily, or are we locked out of swaths of space forever, once we make a choice and do some missions?

Will it be easier to gain or lose faction? Playing the game and doing missions and PVP for their own sakes is fun, but being blocked from content because we haven't grinded enough faction sucks. In any game.

1) Is Amarr's 'missing' frigate going to come out with this? It was mentioned that Amarr will get it Soon .
2) Any chance of the Orca (baby Rorqual)?
3) Will this be, or include Factional Warfare?
3a) If so, some juicy details will be nice!
4) Any chance of new drone modules, such as inventable T2 Drone Link Augmentors (and others as well as faction), more drone rigs and even drone implants? Kind of need a buff to make them better, and make them more interesting and versatile.
5) Any new shiny ships? Maybe the ship that wasn't released when the Marauders/Black Ops/Heavy Interdictors/Electronic Attack Frigates were brought out? Tier 2 destroyers, tech-2 versions of tier 2 battlecruisers, tech-2 versions of tier 3 battleships and tech-2 capital ships are all prime examples that are commonly proposed.
6) Any noticeable improvements in gameplay, such as the Need for Speed Initiative and general bug fixing (overview bugs anyone?) that are worth mentioning?
7) Any chance of level 5 mining, courier, R&D and other agents? And speaking of mission levels, any news on the level 6 and 7 missions? Or were they just canned?
8) Any news on tech level 3 items in when they might be in game? Any groundwork being made now to help introduce it in future?

The Empyrean age. Is no good for none pvp or pve.

If you have more accounts and 1 accounts chooces for the caldari site can he still come in galente space and the otherway around?

Also miner in empire who has already a hard time in empire through all the ore thiefs.
The giant secure containers are not of this time anymore can there be bigger secure container where at least fit in a cycle of 5300 m3?

Also the secure cans bring with them a lot of lag that 30 day period will not change that. Especially in the ice belts it is still a mess. Alse the secure cans are there no good for the machinaw ice miner will that change too?.

The none pvp or pve will through this expansion slichtly disappear. So there will be no place for hardcore empire miner???

What developments have been made in this area? Industry is a dead end ATM and some improvements need to be made to make this type of career interesting.

Some of us are getting bored of the same old missions repeated over and over. What news on more variety and maybe more ways to improve faction standing besides storyline agents?

Blobs and caps have become the main combat methods of Eve of late. What developments have been made to introduce more small gang and 1v1 combat possibilities?

NPC corps.
Players hide in NPC corps to avoid wardecs and consequences arising from their actions. Is there anything new to allow individuals in these corps to be held accountable for their actions without invoking Concord response?

Has there been any improvement on bounty hunting? Allowing bounty hunters to hunt players in highsec would be a start.

Transfer or sale of killrights a possibility?

Dual display.
Any chance of dual monitors to allow windows to be put to one side out of the view area on the other monitor?

First off it would have been nice to put up a link to a summary of what Empyrean Age is all about. Hard to ask questions about something i know nothing about.

Personally i think its time CCP started fixing game issues instead flooding the world with content (usually half broken) that no one asked for in a vain attempt to cover up EvEs many gameplay flaws.

So heres my question, when are you going to address..

- The WoWification of EvE
- The ctrl-q menace
- Making 0.0 fun again
- Bridging the gap Cap Ships and the rest of eve
- The end to BACON and programs like it
- Taking away the far too many tools that make carebear life in 0.0 risk free
- The over powered state of titans

I say NO to faction warfare, and i say NO to walking about in stations... why? Because people spend to much time in stations as it is, and faction warfare will just take people away from 0.0 where the fight should be, where the pvp should be fun and plentiful.

Nothing is more boring than silly faction wars, with counters that reset weekly and BS objectives that in the end dont really mean anything.

Are we going to be able to use the tactical overlay for combat? i would love to be able to move my ship around without the need to rotate the camera... and i believe this should be the way to combat in large battles.
You could click and drag to set the movement. First you click to give direction and then you drag the mouse to set the z-axis.
