My sole intention in running for the CSM is to represent the single most important aspect of Eve.

You.

This is my 4th year of playing Eve, and I've seen it change dramatically over that period of time.

I've tried most aspects of Eve, with varying degrees of success.

Out of game, I'm a 39 year old married professional, with a 15 month old child. My professional career carries a lot of responsability both in terms of real time crisis management and risk assesment, and in dealing with confidential material.

I live a short 2 hour plane direct ride from Iceland, so I will have minimal problems actually attending the full CSM meetings.

I believe that I can make my experience and maturity work for you, the player base, in representing our needs at the CSM.

I have no specific agenda's, and no personal goals, other than a desire to serve the community that has brought me a great deal of fun and enjoyment over the last few years.

Give me your vote, and I will give you my dedication.

Hmmm... hi and welcome to Jita Park. Glad to see you've found the way. A bit late, mayhaps. I recommend you see that you place your stamp on some of those threads soonish so that other people will hear from you for the first time, too, possibly even before they voted.

Some questions to get started: what is the scope of your personal expreiences in EVE as a player?

Do you have any associations with in-game power groups that we might like to know about?

You have never before posted on the forums, at least not with this character. What made you decide to start involving yourself with the broader community by candidating for CSM?

How do you think your chances for election are impacted by coming late to the game. and how are you planning to amend this?

Hi there Kaysha,

and thanks for your questions. All good.

First, my personal experience in have has been varied, starting nearly 4 years ago on the industrial side of life. Aside from a disappointing beta experience, I joined Eve after the closure of Earth and Beyond, following some E&B alliance mates. I managed to pretty much max my mining skills and learning skills in the first year of play, but took a swing towards the combat side of things.

Played around in Stain for a while, before deciding I wanted a CNR, and turning my hand to agent missions. I managed to get half way there (accidentally cashed my LP's for a multi-run CN Caracal BPC ... thank God for the LP store) when I heard Satori and Pure Angel do an Eve radio interview for KIA. I've pretty much been there ever since, although less active recently as a result of RL issues. I've yet to try pirating.

None that I'm aware of. Besides my being a member of KIA corp, I'm not associated with any other in-game entity or industrial base. I don't even own any IPO's ... yet.

That said, I'm an absolute believer that the role of a CSM candidate is to represent player issues as regards game developement in the future, and not to tie myself to any in-game groups or power blocks. At the end of the day the CSM is there to represent all our interests, and not just those of a powerfull minority.

My in-game character info actually identifies Grey Shadow as an alt of my Primary 'XD Andy', and has done for some considerable time.

That said, I've never been hugely vocal on the forum side of things, as for the majority of issues, I've felt if I hadn't something useful to say, best not say anything at all. At least I don't think I can be accused of trolling.

My motivation to participate in this is based more on a belief that my RL skills may be of advantage in representing the wider Eve player community, and a desire to return something back to the game that has brought me so much pleasure these last few years.

Despite my lack of opportunity to play effectively atm, a long term RL issue (apparently at least another 15 years .... 17 if we have another), I do not believe this will prevent me from participating effectively in the CSM.

I'd like to say that by using Grey Shadow, I'm making a statement about wishing to seperate my CSM candidacy from my in-game persona, as I do beleive that the CSM is more a an RL community project rather than something to be linked to an in-game persona, but to be honest it was a decision that made sense at the time.

My chances are, to say the least, staggeringly slim. As for amending the issue, that's an exceedingly good question, and I'm open to suggestions.

On that side fo things, I have to say, it was largely my own fault that I didn't appreciate the timing of the CSM elections in relation to some RL matters, but thankfully this is an occurance that shouldn't happen again, for a while.

Still, I'm here now, and this is a start.

I have several questions, and taking a page out of Talkuth Rel’s book, I decided to ask each candidate in their own thread…

1) Invention – A good idea that still needs work…
a. Have you ever tried invention?
b. What ideas do you have to improve invention?

2) Pilot Security Level – Should it be more important?
a. (In High Sec) – Should Concord react faster if the victim has a higher security level? If the attacker has a lower rating?
b. Should the Security Level of a system affect changes to Pilot Security level changes?
c. Should the Security Level of a Targeted Pilot have more of an effect on the security change of the attacker?

3) Industry – The Creators of Eve
a. Do you regularly build anything?
b. Do you regularly mine?
c. What do you think could be done to improve industry in Eve?
d. You have been asked to help with new ships for industrial characters, describe a few ideas…

Again, very good questions, and I'd like to answer with a quote from "The CSM : A summary Explanation of the Council of Stellar Management"

Originally by: CSM
The Scope of the CSM
The purpose of the CSM is to represent society interests to CCP. This requires
active engagement with the player community to master EVE issue awareness,
understanding, and evaluation in the context of the “greatest good for the
greater player base”. The scope of issues is restricted only to EVE, its ongoing
development, and limited meta (out-of-game) issues which have direct relevance
to the EVE universe. It is important to keep in mind that the CSM will not have
formal powers within CCP, they will have a voice inside CCP.

I'm sure you've read this, but to cut to the chase ...

does it matter what I think on these topics?

I don't think so. What matters is what you and the community think about these issues, and that you can rely on your CSM representative to raise these issues, the issues that YOU want, to CCP in the hope that they will be acted upon.

In that respect, my feelings and attutudes are irrelevant, because if I won't consider and be prepared to raise issues that you want, regardless of whether or not I agree with them, then I have no business running as a CSM candidate.

But to answer your questions anyway ...

1a : sort of
1b : varied, largely involving less grind, more activity.

2a : yes and yes
2b : yes
2c : yes, but more so in respect of faction standings rather than concord (ie relative faction standings of victim and perp to system sov)

3a : I tried. I was bad at it
3b : I used to. I got bored with it.
3c : lots of things, and also very little. I love the Dr's reports.
3d : that really isn't anything to do with the CSM .... sorry.

But, ultimately, it doesn't matter what I think, I want to hear what you think on these issues. Tell me, put them on paper, and I'll look at it. And if other people like it, I would take it to the CSM. Regardless of what I think. Period.

Andy
