This vote is doomed, the only outcome is its going to be corrupt, with alliances like BoB Goons and RA who have all cheated the game one way or another in the past, that wud do anything to have more impact on what ccp does and how it can benefit there own selfish desires how can you take it seriously?

and the fact that the top allainces are a hell of alot bigger than the smaller ones and they get there own alliance to vote for them, how can it be fair?. And those oens that are not in any of the "top alliances" will most likely get bribed by them one way or another, and im sure the bribers would find some sort of use for them

Its pointless

look elsewhere and you'll find them hell bent on destroying EVE (or indeed any other MMO).

Except that if you actually did look elsewhere, you would find this completely false. If you would, say, become a member of the SA forums and hang out for a couple years reading everything, then perhaps you would understand where the humor comes from, and what the overall 'feeling' is of goons. Let's not forget that, even at the worst, causing mayhem and commotion in a game by its own rules is not destroying it, especially if they are paying to play. To be hell bent on destroying eve would mean we want it shut down, which is a ludicrous notion if you actually sit back and think about it.

Somebody mentioned a motto - other than "the internet is serious business" there is no motto for SA, no motto for Eve goons, etc. If there was a motto, it would actually fall closer to "waging war on stupidity and lack of common sense." The problem here is that the antics that fall from that motto can be easily misconstrued, and thus you have goons that take it to mean "be a dip**** *******" because some goons are literally to stupid themselves to realize that taking advantage of a person's lack of common sense is not the same as being an ******* that spams you with **** or otherwise tries to abuse you. It is a fine line, and, if you would look around, you would find that a good chunk - if not the majority - of goons seriously dislike those that take the "be an *******" route.

Games like second-life are attacked by these types of goons, the ones that get their jollies off on ruining a person's day through belligerence. Second-life is a proven haven of some very questionable personality types (furries and pedos), and that became a focus point for the ADD, ******* goons. On the flipside, you see goons playing games like Wurms online - a total sandbox game where people mainly build stuff out of the world. These goons have built a lot of very nice and useful things for the playerbase, and generally just stay away in the section of the world they have built up.

The problem in Eve is that you get people, like in a previous post, saying "ok, it's not against the rules to suicide kill that person for fun, but did that OTHER person have fun because of it?!" Well no **** sherlock, of course that person didn't. But why is that person's idea of fun more important than the other's? If the goon didn't do that, then the goon would not have had fun. It's a lose/win situation. But it is funny - because just like in real life, good deeds are rarely reported on. God forbid you realize that only a small sect of goons actually do even half of the "bad" stuff that seems to get people's panties in a bunch.

So long as it isn't against the rules, people should grow a thicker skin and stop being hypocrites.

Please explain how Goons or RA cheated the game? I'd like to know where this comes from, because I'm certainly not seeing how we 'cheat'.

When I pull up to a POS the shields don't shut down and it insta-unanchors with all modules and then fit in my frigate so I can fly away with it all...

A lot of you whiny types seem to think that the CSM folks are going to show up and Iceland and say do THIS and CCP is going to go 'by your command' and do whatever one single CSM wants. Clearly you must be from a dicatorship country because clearly you've not seen how impossible of a task that is.

The CSMs are only as powerful as CCP wants them to be, and for all of the comments posted by CCP about the program so far, it looks like a free trip to Iceland with some wine & dine type interaction is about the most a CSM can expect to get out of this from CCP.

Speaking as someone who's worked for a company that brings people in for discussions, at worst you pat them on the head, give them some 'exclusive' t-shirts or maybe a polo shirt, send them home, and then marvel in the ridiculous ideas they came up with and continue down the path they started with out implementing anything they said. At best, you think about it, check the economics of it, realize you can't afford it and move on.

The CSM isn't going to be a board of directors dictating where EVE goes...I don't know why so many people seem to feel that they are.

Here's the difference:

When BoB "cheat", CCP sets up a whole internal department to oversee the game and ensure it can never happen again.

When Goons "cheat", CCP says, 'hey, you know that's actually a pretty good idea', and they implement it into the main client. Very Happy

By definition, the election is the results if the will of the majority. The goons have a lot of people, and a lot of votes that they can cast in an organized fashion.

This isn't rigging, this is how elections work.

I can't agree with your "cheated the game" aspect; every player pays to play EVE and every player therefore deserves a vote in helping select some 'guides' (as the CSM can't actually *change* anything other than priorities through discussion). The big alliances already have many connections anyway.

Its pointless

1. I am not a candidate from by corp or alliance.
2. I cannot be bribed. Absolutely not. Ingame or out of it.
3. I would publicise anyone who tried to bribe or force me to their will and let the rest of the playerbase draw their own conclusions.

Selecting a candidate of *your* choice and voting for them is not pointless. It is the source of hoping for a better future.

Lying in your campaign, you sound like real politician.

That you cannot be bribed ingame, okay that might be possible. But not out game? Or you are just plain lying or you are ******ed.
