Hello. I'm a pretty successful prober, probing missions and safespots is fun and with my skills, my scanning time is 34 seconds.
I know that Signal aquisition knocks off 10% scan time per level, but a friend of mine from another corp claims that the covert op's special ability:

"Covert Ops Skill Bonus: -98% to -100% reduction in Cloaking Device CPU use per level and 10% reduction to duration/activation time of modules requiring Astrometrics per level"

Alters scan time also. This part is the part in question:

"...and 10% reduction to duration/activation time of modules requiring Astrometrics per level"

My corpmates and I thought that it was just activation time for the actual launcher itself. Can anyone help?

built in ship scanner is unafffected by skills/implants/ship bonuses

recon and scan probe launchers are affected by skill/implants/ship bonuses

That's why it says duration/activation time.
Yes, covops L5 cuts down scan time (with probes) in half on a covops ship compared to a ship with no bonuses.
