My current plan is to fly a phobos, however, to go straight from ceptor, to inty, and finally to heavy inty is about 3 months of training, and accounting for various skills I need to fly correctly it will probably require more than 5 months.

Now i was looking at the phobos, and i realized that i met quite a few of the requirements, and that it did not require the interdiction skill, nor interceptors, nor much of ANY prerequisites. Which confused me because I was under the impression that a heavy inty was to an inty as a HAC is to an assault ship.

But i digress. Should i continue on my path to heady straight to heavy inty, or should i take the slow route learning ships that i would rather not fly? (BTW knowing how to fly an inty is not a problem, as my friend lets me fly his all the time.)

it's pre-requisite is the regular interdictor, utilizing destroyer-class hulls.

Not according to evemon and the pre-requisite window in-game. Or is there some error?

Heavy Interdiktors does not need normal Interdiktors first.

Make sure that you don't break EULA by doing this.

Although Interdictors and Heavy Interdictors serve very similar purposes, they are not on the same 'branch' of the skill tree. As best as anyone can tell, CCP doesn't like to make any cruiser-related skills dependent on any destroyer-related skills since the destroyer is an offshoot of a frigate and not a normal part of the frigate-cruiser-battleship progression.

Mind you, since you need Propulsion Jamming V for both the Heavy Interdictor skill and the warp disruption probe launcher for an Interdictor, the pre-reqs really aren't all that different.
