Hello,

I am 29 years old and from Hungary, working as a web developer in RL. I have beem playing this game since its final beta stage, my main was spawned in May 2003 and I have been playing since.

I have spent most of my EVE life in 0.0, as member of HUN Corp which I recently became the CEO of. You might know me from various places. I have been doing the diplomatic front of my corp so I came in touch with several other diplomats and alliance leaders.
You might also know me from the battlefield as I have been fighting a lot.
But even if you are not interested in 0.0 life, you might know me from the alliance tournaments. We won the Alliance Tourney 4 which was last autumn. I also flew on the last tournament but it did not go so well, EVOKE has beaten us in the quarterfinals.

About my programme, I would like to stand out for the people who are doing small-scale pvp in EVE. That is the area I know the best and could represent very well, so it is my main focus. Apart from this, I am well aware of the current situation in EVE, both 0.0 and empire. I have been living in this world since it went online so I know its history, how things were in the past, how they are today, what CCP did to change it. I think the main problems that need to be addressed are:
- low sec, which is a complete mess and noone really likes it as it is
- jita, I do not like centralization
- lag, which is very difficult to fix and a tough question
- events, which are completely missing nowadays

I have put up an absolutely minimalistic website on tusko.eve-online.hu, you might want to read it.

Questions are welcome in this forum or in eve mail.

I have several questions, and taking a page out of Talkuth Rel’s book, I decided to ask each candidate in their own thread…

1) Invention – A good idea that still needs work…
a. Have you ever tried invention?
b. What ideas do you have to improve invention?

2) Pilot Security Level – Should it be more important?
a. (In High Sec) – Should Concord react faster if the victim has a higher security level? If the attacker has a lower rating?
b. Should the Security Level of a system affect changes to Pilot Security level changes?
c. Should the Security Level of a Targeted Pilot have more of an effect on the security change of the attacker?

3) Industry – The Creators of Eve
a. Do you regularly build anything?
b. Do you regularly mine?
c. What do you think could be done to improve industry in Eve?
d. You have been asked to help with new ships for industrial characters, describe a few ideas…

Hello, thank you for the questionsm here come the answers.

1) Invention – A good idea that still needs work…
a. Have you ever tried invention?
Nope, I have never tried invention myself. I have a few members in my corp who make their living out of it and they have advised me on the situation.

b. What ideas do you have to improve invention?
In order to make inventing more competitive, there should be options to influence the ME of the resulting BPCs, so that it gets closer to those of the BPOs.

2) Pilot Security Level – Should it be more important?
No, I dont think that it would be a good idea. Security status can be fixed very easily. Instead of making the security status more important, I think the faction standing should be play a more important role. I mean which empire faction likes seeing the players popped in their systems?

a. (In High Sec) – Should Concord react faster if the victim has a higher security level? If the attacker has a lower rating?
Not a bad idea, but as I stated earlier, sec status can be fixed way too easily.

b. Should the Security Level of a system affect changes to Pilot Security level changes?
Yes. Hi sec ganking should be more penalized than low sec pirating, imho.

3) Industry – The Creators of Eve
a. Do you regularly build anything?
No,

b. Do you regularly mine?
No.

c. What do you think could be done to improve industry in Eve?
There are not enough manufacturing and research slots in empire. I think it should be made possible for the playerbase to autobalance this problem by making POS research and factory modules rentable to other players, corps.
Miners should be less exposed to attacks by moving the asteroid belts to deadspace which can only be scanned using onboard scanners and similar. Mining also needs to be done more interactive because its boring like hell and only robots can do it for a longer period of time without flipping out.

d. You have been asked to help with new ships for industrial characters, describe a few ideas…
Can you concretize this question? Your earlier questions were referring to manufacturing, you mean a ship class aimed for such producers?

I wanted this to be a simple hypothetical question... what ships do you think could be added to improve the industrial side of the game (by the way, I do recognize that you are not/don't have an industrial character, but I appreciate your answers)

Hamfest, i do not see that production requres a new ship type, but this is due to my lack of overview about htat specific area. If I extend your question further, I think the current ship classes are kind of okay. I could imagine a ship dedicated for salvaging and loot retrieval but it might be sufficient to change the bonusses of an underused ship to make it more suited for this task.

Do you have any ideas about lowsec? Because of the current mechanics, NBSI is a must, hence half of us blinking red meanwhile we are not ebil pirates...

Thanks for your vote! I have already summarized my opinion about low sec changes in the thread dedicated to this topic.
I think the question whether the default policy employed by low sec people should be NBSI or non-NBSI should be decided by the actual situation in a given region. However, apart from this, I think low sec requires a major boost as far as rewards go so that more people take the risk, and it should be made slightly easier to avoid getting spanked by the bad guys.

You got my vote. There are just so many candidates, i decided to vote for the guy who is at the bottom of the list and that happened to be you.

Now that my vote is set, i would like to have a few questions if you dont mind. (talk about getting the order of things right eh?)

You wrote that you dislike the jita situation. Do you have anything in mind as a suggestion for that or is it just some general catchphrase to lure people into your party?

I do trade a lot - guess where the name of my corp comes from - so if you answer me wrong, i might have to pull some strings at CCP to cancel my vote :)

Dear Hrian, thank you for your vote, I hope many people share your candidate selection algorithm.

About the Jita question, I think jita is generally a bad thing. EVE needs a more segregated market with multiple trading centers. This removes a lot of lag and people like you, living from trading, get more chance to do your job. As I do not believe in brute force, like the one that made Yulai lose its significance, I think some slight gameplay mechanic changes are required to solve the Jita problem.
I could imagine a system where the different faction's stations are using different sales taxes on players based on their faction standing, for example, players with a good caldari standing have low sales taxes in Jita, but high taxes in Gallentaen stations. Pilots with good Gallente standing have low tax in the Federation but hi taxes in the Caldari State. Furthermore, the different factions could introduce protecting duties to tax item sales that do not "belong" to their main profile. These are just ideas, they are not difficult to implement (sales tax calculation formula needs to be changed) but they might lead to the segregation of the market.

Thanks for your vote. If you don't mind me asking, what part of my programme did you like that made you vote on me? Unless of course it was a pure sympathy vote. :)

Hi,

I have been following some of the candidates' threads (filtered out most on the first day). There are several common elements, shared between some candidates, some of the points in your programme are present in other candidates' one and vice versa - probably accentuated problems most players agree on. Anyway, I'm sure many face the problem of choosing between 2, 3, 4 or so candidates.

The reason I chose you was because I really like it that you brought up the events - or rather, EVENTS!!! Wow. I never participated in one but I remember religiously following some on the forums, read about others, and I found them really exciting. The titan one, omg, that was a real good one! Or other NPC pirate participations through Eve history. I for one, must confess, have a weak spot for the NPC pirate factions, they fascinate me (wouldn't refuse to see some Jove event either). I'm sure that these events in the past offered a LOT of fun to all involved (including Aurora :) ). Indeed we need events. I hope you will have the chance to bring this up with the CCP folks. Events would certainly enhance my overall Eve experience (I didn't roleplay much in Eve but I like games that have a RP aspect, played some).
The other points are nice, some are relevant to me some not, but overally those are more or less covered by others as well, as far as I am concerned; I only participate actively and regularly in a fraction of what Eve has to offer.

Best of luck with your campaign. It should be more aggressive to be honest :) but I am sure the fact that you're not the populist kind like some others is appreciated by many.

I hope many RPers (or just people that enjoy a good NPC titan hunt or so) will vote for you also \o/

Thinking about it, its really a shame they did stop doing the events, even though i believe that the biggest events were aimed for 0.0 people which i find a bit controversial, considering that we empire dwellers are far more numerous.

Thanks for your ealier answer Mr Hopkins, i appreciate it, even though i do not 100% agree with what you've written there. Sales taxes based more on standings would just force us to grind missions for trading as well, which i would surely hate to do.

As for having different regions having different FIXED taxes on various items.. well, thats in interesting proposal for sure. For start we could have the various races add a 15-30% tax on the sales of items belonging to a different race. This would instantly cause people to go shopping instead of going to a central market hub.
