http://ineve.net/skills/character.php?charID=NDM5NDcyODE4

just curious, this is my 1st char and I'm still a nooblet so trying to figure out if I did a good job creating her or not.

I like ratting in 0.0, she is an industry char but mining gets a bit boring, and im starting into science and research for battlecruiser bpo's and bpc's and building them.

hints, tips, advice? Very Happy

Linkyfied your character on ineve.net

4 base memory is damned low for a confessed industrial character, I would have expected at least an 8, preferably a 9. It's abysmally low for a miner or a manufacturer, seriously.
Heck, 11 base perception (high) makes you pretty well suited for combat training, but the 8 base intelligence (average) combined with your horrible base memory means it will take a good while to train support skills (or science skills for that matter).
10 in charisma is above average, this character would be better suited to be a trader rather than a manufacturer/scientist IMHO... but then again neither int nor wil are anything to write home about, so it's only slightly above average.

Overall, your character is not very balanced attribute-wise and not really all that suitable for anything in particular... but would be slightly better off as a combat character rather than anything else you mentioned up until now.

Also, your actual skills are hidden for the time being (except learnings, which are implied from the attribute breakdown), so I can't make any suggestions on what to train next.

IF you decide to start a new character please read in here Linkage and ask away if you still have any questions.

I would advise against rerolling if you don't know yet for sure what you want, since you have a decent amount of skill points, a full set of implants and learnings partially done.
But if you INSIST on becoming a miner/manufacturer/scientist you should roll a second char (keep this one, don't delete it, just don't train it further, focus on the new one instead) with at least 8 in both base int and mem (that is, before any school bonuses), preferably even higher than that if you want to be truly dedicated (more focus on mem if you're leaning on the mining/manufacture side, more focus on int if you're leaning on the resesearch side).

All of these issues (raised by others before) are already answered in the pages of that thread I linked above.

so you saw that i have intel up to 19 then? and all of my skills now? When I got this char I kept clicking on industrial stuff and started with lvl 5 mining so it doesn't make sense to me how my attributes are not fit for that... though i do find an easier time of training for ships and stuff..

Because each skill group uses two attributes, science is intelligence and memory, spaceship command is perception and willpower, and so on. Because of the way you started with charisma and perception so high you will find it takes much longer when you start getting to the higher rank skills on the skill groups that you don't train well on.

The lowest BASE value you can have in any attribute is 3 (possible for various attributes on several characters), the average is 7.8 (so, make that 8) and the highest possible BASE is 17 (willpower on some amarr).

The max you can improve your attributes is (base+15)*1.1 (all L5 learnings, +5 implants)
Base 3 can be raised to 19.8 maximum.
The average base 8 can be raised to 25.3 maximum.
The max base 17 can be raised to 35.2.

While getting the above values can take a long time (up to 3 months at worst)... getting an attribute to (base+12)*1.08 is relatively trivial, in comparison... you just need L4 in both relevant learnings and L4 in the learning skills, plus a +4 implant... at roest, that's going to take 3 weeks tops, usually less.
Base 3 can easily be raised to 16.2
The average base 8 can easily be raised to 21.6
The max base 17 can easily be raised to 31.32

Therefore, your effective attribute values don't matter all that much in the long run... in the long run, only the BASE attributes matter.
Your base attributes are not that good for the mining/industrial/science career you claim you want to follow.
If you'd roll a second char with the "proper" base attributes, you'd eventually get more SP total compared to just training this char you have... the longer you wait for the switch, the longer it takes in comparison for the "reroll" option to be better... until eventually it just doesn't make any sense to reroll at all, since it would take way too long to catch up in case you decide to reroll.

So.... if you want to reroll, the sooner you do it, the better... the more you wait, the better it is to just stick with the old one.

Camille's at work, she wanted me to ask:

How would you go about setting up a new mining character? And a new science/research character separately? I want to know which options I should click throughout the character creation and what race I should use.

From the thread I linked to originally, shortcuts to your relevant section:
miner build
comparison of needs for various "jobs"
Seriously, just parse the whole thread, most of the usual questions were already answered at least once.

your current skills look good, but as with most things there is room for improvement. tech 2 scout drones dont seem to be a thing most people discover so early, and tech 2 medium armor tank Very Happy

Akita T is a wee bit of a carebear, so if you envision yourself shooting at stuff more than anything else then be careful when listening to her, where as i like to shoot stuff a lot so if you want to do the mining/producing then well what I say isn't the most useful.

in the short run yes a balanced character is right, however in the long run, more specialized attributes are win!

your win looks to me to be flying command ships around and giving out the nice bonuses. or any other pew pew role, your int/per isn't bad, go zoom zoom with navigation skills, (or say jump drive skills, although cap ships are a wayyyys off)

ok now back to what you said you were interested in. now mining is a bit boring but you said you liked ratting, you also say you want to build stuff. now this actually leads us to an interesting place. you know all that loot you get? guess what you can do with it. reprocess!!! all that plain t1 loot, yea it refines for A LOT. and now you don't have to mine anymore (might still have to mine some but not as much)

sure you will train some stuff suboptimaly, but
well If you have someone who can refine for you that takes a bit of training off. well you have refinery efficiency 3, so you should get a decent refine, might be worth getting that to 4 or 5. and then getting metallurgy 5 (helps out on that research stuff) and then train scrap metal processing.
To build you will want a few levels of mass production (so you can run a few jobs at the same time) as well as production efficiency 5 (lowers waste)

hell starting a new character and redoing learning/all the other stuff you do will probably take longer than training up for scrap metal processing and production efficiency 5.

just remember, remembering stuff is over rated.

and now it hits me!
if you really want to stay as that industry character think about training up for a Rorqual. with your cha stat training for the gang links shouldn't be a problem. the jump drive skills should go somewhat quick with your int/per, and the spaceship command skills shouldnt be a problem with your per/wp

hmmm your int/mem with 5/4 learnings and +4s would be (in sp/hr) ((8+9+4)*1.1 + (1/2)(4+9+4)*1.1) *60 = 1947sp/hr. which isnt that bad. your mem/int 1815 sp/hr, which still isn't that bad.

the (base + 15)*1.1 is something I don't like to use as the learnings all to 5 takes several months to do and takes 3 years or so to pay off (exact math is somewhere on the forums). and +5 implants are around 90-100mil isk each. I personally wouldn't fly around 0.0 in that. although if you sit in a few systems and stay there then it might be worth it. I would be too tempted to go roaming Laughing

I've seen her RL pic and she's HOT.

As to the skills. There is a few skills not yet trained to Level 1 ? why was that ?
