I had 46 minutes left on one skill and was going to be away from the computer for longer, so I switched to another skill by right clicking on that skill and choosing to train it.

I got the dialogue box asking if I really wanted to change skills and I clicked ok then closed Eve.

I log in about 90 minutes later to find that I'm not training any skill. The skill I switched from is still where I left it and the skill I switched to was also showing no decrease in training time.

What happened here ?

Also is there any point in trying to get a reimbursement for the lost time ?

Yes I didn't lose much training time. But I could of easily lost a lot more if I had done something like changing skills before bed.

Wow, a full night lost...

There's no reimbursement for this kind of things.
It's very unusual that a skill doesn't begin training when asked. Never happened to me, but heard a few such stories...

This DOES happen. It's happened to me several times (I'm talking at least a dozen times). The most I've lost is about 12 hours training time (thankfully). CCP claims there's no reports of this ever happening before, well now we know there is.
The only thing I can narrow it down to is that it only happens to me if I change skills and then log off right away.
When it first happened I figured I'd forgotten to change my skill. Then it happened again, and so from then on (about 6 months ago) I began paying very close attention to when I switched skills; I right click, get the new skill going, then I WATCH it start to count up the skill points training in that skill, and THEN I log off. Despite that, there are times where I log on the next time and it still didn't change. (just had this happen two days ago in fact). ugh

Just wait and see the skill u set to training start. That should easily fix this problem.

This only happens if you literally click train skill (are you sure >> yes) and close eve very quickly.

Wait until you can see the white square flashing.

Yeah, what she said, you have to remember the information has to be sent to the server, the client and server have to do a little dance and communicate with each other if there is some lag in your client or the server and nothing gets sent and then you just close it then this could possibly happen. I would always check the skill has started training, don't be in such a rush.

Best thing to do is have a training monitor program, like on igoogle (there is a widget there). I usually check it there after closing the EvE Client, to know it's all working ok - So far every time it's not training, it's been my error, I've never know a skill not to train.

After pulling up the calc, i've figured out that if you pay 14,95$ (or ) per month, witch is the most expensive it gets, 90 minutes will be something like 3 cents...

CCP, please give the man 3 cents, it'll certainly make a difference.

yes it is all worthwhile if you think that going at it for a few pennies is worthwhile, only issue is you have to pay a dollar stamp to have them shipped to you...

But seriously even loosing a full day of training is not even 0.3% loss training over a year, you need to look at the big picture and less at the second by second macro management.

hah!

1 year down the road compared to the amount of time you've spent training... 1.5 hours missing will be meaningless.

I've had this happen, but I actually took the step of checking it was training before closing EVE, so I caught it.

I had this happen, and petitioned it.

They know it happens.

I was told the most they could do is to end a skill - not to speed one up, so I am to contact them the next time I have a skill that is 55 minutes away from completion to let them finish it.

Problem is... I keep forgetting to do that. Been like 6 months now.

Jeez you guys, what a bunch of flamers. Seriously, after the first person says "ZOMG u r stoopid coz 1.5 howers is nuthing u noob", everyone else is nothing but a troll.

And yes, it's petitionable, I finished a skill which reset to the previous level, and I petitioned ccp and they finished another skill for me at the same value.

This thread should be about 3 or 4 posts long, at most.

After I change a skill I verify it's training by checking the new end time on it, the flashing square if one is there, and updating EVEMon.

We live and learn.
