Well it takes 100% cpu on high-end systems (making them slow) too. It should be relative easy to fix, because it most of the time the game isnt really doing anything.

edit: on 1.5GHz laptop, and ~1.9GHz workstation

What's wrong with 100% CPU ? I love 100% CPU.

I hate it when my CPU is not being fully utilised.

EVE is not an application which needs to co-exist with other programs, EVE is a game and when I run EVE I only run EVE and I want EVE to use 100% CPU.

So less then 100% cpu would be a bad thing? Okay, i just lost all motivation to give feedback here :-)

ok, stop asking for the money back from the extended dt, its not going to happen if it did we may loose patches that add extra to the game and develop it as it wont be profitable for ccp. yes profit every company aims to make a profit from what they do ccp will or should be doing what they can to avoid these errors but reading that much code and spotting what may be only a small bit of code that can cause the glitch is very difficult so it may get missed untill it is put under strain.

i am sure ccp will get round to fixing these problems when they can.

they are annoying and i am suffering the same problems. so yer ccp please fix them asap.

and quit ur whining about the api uve been told when it should be back up wait untill after tht taime b4 u complain.

A Little more advanced warning for the extended downtime would have been nice this just means all the longer term stuff set in place for last patch will be off line or ending during this one. BAH

"The cluster is not currently accepting connections."

Great.

I can understand the problem of maintaining such a complex game. The server-side code alone would be utterly ridiculous in its complexity, much less all the other aspects of the game itself that need to be kept an eye on. What I don't understand is why CCP are not keeping us adequately up to date with downtime and other such things. To me, that's what's unacceptable about this whole situation and for that I think people are right to expect some form of compensation. Come on, CCP, get with the program already!

I agree they should fix the UI problem. Once even my targets moeved out of the screen. This will get me killed in space. Also the UI doesn't remember its position. So everytime I move out of the station or open a gang the UI get stuufed on the right moving the selected item window out of sight. That rally sucks more than not to beeing able to play some missions.
Oh and my dual clients crash too. Hmm why should I pay for 2 if they don't work at the same time?
I hope CCP is one the ways to fix the problems caused by the booster patch. I know they can do it.

I just don't get why so many people are complaining about time cards and skills and stuff, i mean, it's a couple hours, so what if your char. looses a couple hours skill time, same goes for time cards etc, it's a fraction of the time there is in a month when it comes to account perscriptions, and as for skill training, getting upset over a few hours lost compared to the months and years is laughable.

Okay yes CCP didn't find all the bugs and yes they didn't give great warning, so they may have ****ed up, but adding a patch to something as complex as Eve must be a major task, there's bound to be conflicting programming which can't be found until it goes online etc, and at least CCP actually HAVE noticed the problems and ARE doing their best to fix them instead of burying their heads in the sand or telling players to "deal with it".

Personally i've lost about 50million isk to the patch (which to me is bloody loads), but i'd rather lose an extra couple of hours skilltraining/in-game money/real money and have the game running as bug-free as possible.

I don't think you get it do you? Not everyone is rich, those hours/days cost money, I just posted a post and 8 other posts got infront of it so it probably wont be seen. As I said...everyone isn't rich as what you probably are [in real life], those hours and days count for people to gather ISK in order to pay for their next GTC, Im moving house at the minute, have no job due to moving house, credit cards have been canceled due to consolodation of debts, I only have 2 million ISK in my wallet and 17 days left on my account...due to these days being deducted on my account WHILE THE SERVER IS DOWN is going to hit me hard, very hard. It has messed up the only way I can pay for Eve and due to this I will more than likely not be able to get my 180mil to pay for my GTC because of the number of days to get such an amount of ISK...please understand man, just because we are online and using Eve doesnt mean we are rich. I stated in my last ost that I cant even afford milk for a cuppa tea...nevermind paying for another GTC [and i cant due to no creditcards now].

Please CCP understand we are all not rich americans, my bloody house heating doesnt even have oil in it, im using a hot water bottle to heat myself :(...please put back 2 days of Game Time on everyones account for the downtime otherwise I wont be able to play eve AT ALL until I clear my credit card debt which wont be for 6-12 months :(:(:(

EVE runs fine at 50% for me, leaving itunes, mozilla, MSN and fraps to utilize the rest!

To those who say they wouldn't complain.

What if the DT was for 5 days...7 days? At which point would you complain because you bloody would eventually.

What does it take a week...two? So don't pretend you wouldn't complain.

By the way why are you talking like "b4" that's just annoying.

If the downtime extended for more than a day, I'd be complaining. Anything less than that is irritating, but not necessarily worth wasting time *****ing about it. I think most people are having a major problem with the whole "no notice" issue, which is excruciatingly annoying in more than a few ways, not to mention totally understandable. My complaint resides with the same issue, and it's important that that is understood by both naysayers like you and CCP themselves.

It should take you less time to make 15 than 200 MISK, even if you live in a tent :-). If not you really have other things to focus on (or youre doing some major in-game business).

50% cpu or 100% Laughing

It's all about how many cpu's you've got. Eve have some support for multithreading but not enough to fully load 2 cores (or 4).

So if you have a dualcore, aprox 50% cpu is full load on one core and the other available to other things. If you have hyperthreading (one core faking as two), you get some 80-90% usage. Solocore is usually 100% (eve does always find something to do).

If you really really want to run excel as well, change process priority. Step eve down a notch and you'll get cycles for excel as well (but at a penalty in eve ofc). I will not write the guide on how to do this, search internet on task manager if needed.

Eve doesnt throttle down, if it can produce 5000fps, it will (always using max cpu for slightly over one thread). You can check this by checking fps while docked. On a low-prio wishlist it would perhaps be nice to set a cap for fps, and hence cool the cpu down a bit (or save battery).

You probibly have a dual core processor (eve only uses one) so there for the first core will be at 100%

Alright,

I am very happy with CCP at the moment, so what 24+ hours are gone, remember the what they said before "go enjoy real life for a few hours". If this GAME is hurting your REAL LIFE then perhaps you should stop and think about what you have accomplished. Sure I didn't play EVE during my study hall for a day, i finished my homework...
Another thing if you are playing this game and you are out of school, and you are upset, get a job, it is not cool that you are complaining about these samll things to CCP. Lastly I can play the game and by the way i have DIAL UP. I am still kept increasingly happy that CCP doesn't require a player to have HIGH SPEED Internet (not including the orgional download). That is somthing that I, MIGHT, complain about, if they requireed high speed, but even so most Internet based games these days require high speed. So gry not to complain about small things CCP is likely to fix, and if you think this message annoying then i guess i am a hypocrite, myself :). Anyways i hope you understand and remember this downtime is in the morning! Why would you play in the morning anyways! Thank you and good...uhhh good morning!

I have same problem, my computer used to run both clients on high graphics with no problem. I could even lower the graphics to old graphics and run three clients with zero lag. Now with the graphics all the way down with no effects and no premium graphics activated I can't run two clients...though one client works no problem.

I agree, people seem to forget that the folks at CCP worked for almost 24 hours straight to get this boost patch onto the servers, while all some of you are doing is whining...
But yes, there are bugs. Yes, this is normal. And yes, it will get fixed.
Now go out and enjoy real life for a few hours!

Hum... Maybe CCP forget that we pay for this game. Any refund for the waste of time ?

I'm only frustrated because a skill I need to get a new ship that I've wanted for...a long time just finished training yesterday. (I wasn't able to get on when server was up) That's the only reason I'm frustrated. If they need to take this time to make the game BETTER so it doesn't have GLITCHES or BUGS, then that's fine. I can understand if you're impatient, but I'd rather have a day of free time than a crappy game.

This!! Get the alt button to do exactly as it did pre-patch.. IE show up all the hidden "brackets" in space. was great for finding moons to warp to etc. Also.. Hovering the mouse over planets now.. shows the hidden moons... Thats a bag of ****.. and needs to be fixed asap.

You know, if you have a problem with less than 100% CPU, install and run seti@home (from setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/ - that adapts to your CPU load and keeps it at 100%, running things that are useful... (make sure to join the group search for eve)
