Is it CCPs ineptitude? Or is it in fact that given a sandbox within which to mold a society that very society turns against itself?

Perhaps EVE reflects the darker nature of the human psyche than many would care to admit? Instead they turn to CCP to apply blame.

Its a cruel universe, and disturbingly attractive for that very reason.

The thing is, CCP have not created an unbiased sandbox in which human nature can express itself. Eve promotes ganking, plain and simple.

It does so through the balance of fonts and sinks, and the arrangement of snares, weapons, and movement (space). The OP gives the example of the Heavy Interdictor, but that is just one example: in truth the system is designed to provoke combat, and for combatants to diligently seek unequal battles. There is no notion of economy of force, and only a very weak notion of the operational costs that constrain real world militants. In a very real sense, Concord preserves turmoil.

These things aren't intrinsic, natural, features of real life: they are artificial features of Eve. In the real world, most human effort is cooperative and non-violent. Around 80% (source Gat, OUP).

As it happens, I play Eve for the simulated battle. However, I would enjoy Eve more if the rules encouraged equal battles. They could easily do that, and in my view the CCP design team needs to develop along those lines.

If you can come up with some credible mechanics that discourage blobbing then by all means let's hear them. They're gonna have to be pretty good to make 50 ships > 250 ships though.

Also please punish the whiners who keep trolling the forums, just because the rules in the game are not as they want them to be. If you do not like eve as it is, why don´t you just quit it? Eve is what it allways was and allways will be and a huge amount of players (by far more than you are obviously thinking), are playing eve primary to enjoy the pvp part, especially every long time player keeps playing eve, because of the pvp we can find here. If eve would not be what it is, i would not be playing it for more than 4 years already and the same counts for the majority of pilots i know in eve.

Carebear much?

All your linked games do not provide unconsentual PvP, but unconsentual PvP is the reason for thousands in here to play this game, rather then Hello Kitty Online.

EvE is as close as it can get to the real world, when it comes to all the "bad" things that happen and I like it that way.

I honestly thought, upon reading the title in the forum list, that it was a fun bit of sarcasm.

Sadly, but not surprisingly, it was not.

EVE Online is a monumental achievement. No holds barred, survival of the fittest. That's why CCP gets my $$. It's that great differentiation that CCP has achieved.

People who can't cut it should simply leave.

well most of the reasons you gave here why eve is wrong in your opinion are the reasons i still play the game...

of you are free to express your feelings and i accept that, for myself i can only say that i see it pretty much the other way round and falling victim to a gank now and again keeps you on your toes and alert imo.

heavy dictors are high powered but not overpowered, think about ways to counter their strengths other than just fitting WCS, keep your adaptibility up.

EVE is an evolving game and every so often you will have to evolve as well or quit.

either way, good luck out there be it EVE or any other mmorpg.

Yes EVE is cruel and unfair. That's the way it's meant to be, and I for one wouldn't have it any other way.

I can recommend a game more to your tastes if you like.

You wanna know why wow is better? Because wow is made for children with children in mind completely. The game is based on a system of cry less, win more. That's BS. I'd rather play a game that takes skill AND risk. You don't like our game, leave. Immediately.

Uh, you do realise that obvious troll linked to Hello Kitty Online in the OP?

Anyway, it was far to well-written to be a serious post. Genuine whines come as a poorly spelled, ungrammatical, paragraphless wall of text.

I’m responding to the OP in the belief, perhaps mistaken, that they are being serious, so forgive me if this is just one big wind up.
Anyway, have you never read a SF book, watched a SF TV series or film, played an SF based table-top game, played a SF based computer game etc? In every single non ‘Hard’ science based piece of SF you will find the scenario Eve presents us with.
Star Wars is full of space pirates, who even go deep into Empire space to do their pirating, this situation is the same in Star Trek where there are still asteroid pirates in the Sol system. Firefly and the follow on film ‘Serenity’ is very reminiscent of Eve with its cruel and heartless space environment filled with those who are only too ready to whiff you out of existence.
Never read any of E.E. ‘Doc’ Smith’s books? Or any of the more modern author’s? Again, they are full of the very things Eve does.
Don’t complain about a game that tries its utmost to duplicate the very genre that most of us enjoy reading, watching or playing.

The OP is so true. the risk to reward for pirating, both in hihg and low sec, is totally scewed. They can prey on noobs just looking to go about their busines with little to no risk to themselves, and can simply reep the benefits of other people's work.

CCP PLEASE FIX THIS!
