I've been thinking of upgrading my main ship from a Punisher to a Coercer for missions.

Side note - I've heard people talk about PVE versus PVP (obviously player versus player), but what eaxctly does PVE stand for? Player versus enemies?

I looked at the stickied thread containing a PVP setup thread for the Coercer (doesn't sound like it's designed for PVP at all) and it wasn't too helpful, so though I'd start this thread so people could post setups for PVE (?).

Cheers for any input. Cool

PvE = Player vs Enviroment

As for setup's you will probably get better advice in the Ships and Modules forum.

Destroyer setups are heavily skill based, because fitting can be tight.

Basicly choose your balance between lasers and salvagers in your hi's

Afterburner or Cap recharger in your mid

Armour Tanking in your lows

E as environment.

The coercer will be good for lvl 1 missions and even lvl 2 missions (with enough skills and care) against ennemies like rogue drones, blood raiders, sansha, and many of other ennemies amarr missions can lead you to.

Most of the time, using beams and the right crystals to have a 15-20km optimal range will make you shoot down very fast ennemy frigates while being quite safe from heavy damage.

Begin by fitting an armor repairer, an afterburner, an energized plating corresponding to the NPC's damage, a heat sink and something else in the lows (another heat sink , energized plating or a tracking enhancer) and then see what beams you can fit, I guess you'll take the lighter ones, fit as many as possible and you'll be good to go I guess.

[Coercer, New Setup 1]
Heat Sink I
Power Diagnostic System I
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane I
Small Armor Repairer II

Cap Recharger I

Medium Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Standard S
Medium Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Standard S
Medium Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Standard S
Medium Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Standard S
Medium Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Standard S
Medium Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Standard S

Medium Anode Pulse Particle Stream I, Standard S

This setup should fit without any levels in advanced weapon upgrades or similarly exotic skills. If you can, get named variants of the heat sink, cap recharger, and power diagnostics (in this order), or even modal medium pulses (but those are really expensive).

This setup should be quite happy at 10km range with Standard crystals, to be varied at your leisure. But Standard's save the most cap, and you'll be short on it Wink

Not a viable setup for new players -- medium anode pulses require way too much CPU to fit and without an afterburner you will take too much damage while getting in range.

Really no fitting of this ship will work very well for level 2 missions as a beginner -- it's too slow, has mediocre firepower, and runs out of capacitor much too quickly. It will complete level 1 missions much more efficiently than a punisher, however.

You will also need a salvager unless working with someone who can go back to get a dedicated salvage vessel when the mission is halfway over (comming back yourself afterwards takes too long when you are trying to work on standing).

This is a more reasonable fitting:
