Just curious, is CCP planning overkill weapons? Like huge beams cutting entire ships in half? Nuclear bombs taking out whole belts, big ships crashing into each other…

I mean, if we can take out our own planet think about what races flying spacecraft can do..

I can just see it now, Im taveling through low sec space when I get myself stuck in a bubble and surrounded by a bunch of pirate battleships and interdictors.

Just before they get a full lock on me I give them the fingers out of my bridge window and push the big red button on my 500 megatonn nukeTwisted Evil

Hows about skills to train traps for your ship...

For instance...

You Overloaded your ships Capacitor causing your ship to explode and causing 30 0000 Unresisted damage to surrounding ships. Almost like a huge smartbomb. You loose yrou ship but you can take them out, or do Uber damage to them...I woudl love this....Picture gate camps....they about to destroy you....you ove rload yrou capacitor and eject from your ship....BOOM! "what teh heck....why are my shields down and half way into armour..."

Or somthing similar, think of it like those unconventional methods that the startek pilot use...

Nah... DD is no fun, I mean you need an imposible ship to fire that weapon and it doesn't give any major explosions..

Something tells me the ability to fly kamikaze and suicide bomb a mining op won't be implemented to avoid overly sensitive wussbags getting offended.

A. The theroy that humans can destroy the Earth is myth. Stop drinking the coolaid.

2. The only way you could defeat a vessel with a weapon that could cut ships in half in one shot would be to send massive fleets agianst it. The lag we encounter with only a few ships in a fleet would make these types of encounters unproductive at that scale.

III. I really like the idea of ships colliding and causing damage to each other. The fact that we all fly around in rubber ships that bounce off objects really takes away from the experience of the game. This is a good idea.

A 720mm II Munnin vs. a Merlin is the very definition of overkill. An old corpmate of mine once opened up on such a Merlin and it died so fast that no one even saw the ship uncloak. It was just a gate flash and then the pod and wreck appeared to decloak.

So you want a ship that's not "impossible", as in easy to get, and that'd have a increadibly fearsome weapon?
What would stop every small gang from having a couple of said ships then?

The Titan currently is that superweapon that singlehandidly have a large inpact on engagements today.

The idea isn't very serious just a bit 'what if' thing.. I mean use your fantasy a bit Very Happy

On a more serious note, I think the weapons need better animation.. I mean, I want to have the idea I am doing something.. I have fitted a couple of 650mm arties on my Cyclone, I just want to see some major weapon fire.. I mean, they are arties for a reason Rolling Eyes

This idea doesn't sound exploitable at all. Nope. Why would someone use one outside a high-sec trade hub? What would be gained from nuking new players running the tutorial? Why didn't the OP's parents take him to the hospital after he ate half the lead paint on the porch swing?
