Tiscali Eve support sticky, click here.

I think we got the hung at "checking status" earlier since the end of the holidays, with a few of us starting mid afternoon rather than later in the evening.
Anyway, if it has got worse , at least we know they are trying something. Not sure if it's a final effort to get rid of every last one of us though , he said sarcastically. Twisted Evil

Just out of curiosity, have you guys tried changing the port number you use to connect to EVE?

Yes and it is the same, as the ports are not blocked, it's the eve packets that are traffic shaped.
They know whats doing it, and they know it's them, just getting a result is taking a very long time.

Well at least you're in touch with them and they've acknowledged that an issue exists. Good luck!

I'm not a tiscali customer (thank god) but i'm amazed that people still stick with that ISP after this.

Agreed. New ISP will be active next week.

Snaith, I admire your stand and wish you all the best, but even if tiscali DO fix the problem (they wont) you will still be with one of the worse ISP's in the UK.

Some of the mainstream ISP's might follow suit if they see tiscali getting away with it, but there will always be ISP's available that are biased towards online gamers (especially if they keep getting new customers from people ****ed off with tiscali and virgin)

To be blunt it's gotten far worse since christmas and I'm going to be getting my mac code off them in a few days. I'm now basically being blocked from Eve from more or less after DT to 1am which has gone well beyond a joke.

Yes I know , easy answer swap ISP, some people can't.

Since patch my clients crash more often than Tiscali lets me down.

If Tiscali do sort this and continue traffic shaping as well, then when the other ISP's jump on to the throttled highways, we can at least say that Eve can be fixed and give a good example, assuming of course it does get fixed.

As a gamer I wouldn't be with Tiscali now if I had a choice.

Why dont you havea choice? If its a contract matter- they are in breach. Let em sue you... (tip- they wont)/

I'd rather see lots of customers leaving tiscali over this, so it does not become something that ISP's think they can get away with.

I'd never pay full price for less than half a service and hope that maybe something happens a year later.

Yes if leaving made any impact I would agree, but it hasn't.

So this is the alternative, nagging them and not letting the issue simply go away, which is what swapping ISP does.

Making others playing diff games also aware that this may be their problem too, and not being able to use xbox, playstaions online also increases numbers to add pressure.

A solution (temporarily) would be to get a VPN setup which tiscali cant shape based on packet signatures.

Tiscrappy is indeed my fav name for them when it comes to Eve.

There are plenty of remaining ISPs who are Eve friendly, just DO check you don't get a Tiscrappy subsid company , they did buy up a lot of smaller ISPs last year.

Be offers a fairly good service for a lower price. I haven't had any problems with them.

I want to say that my ISP was bought over by Talk Talk - who have decided it seems to either go the Tiscali route or to have had many teething problems so far.

I just got my MAC from Tiscali and handed it to Sky (got TV with them already so made sense to lump it in one package). Waiting for the handover to occur in the next few days/week.

For about the last 1 1/2 weeks I can pretty much guarantee that I won't be able to log into Eve from 1700hrs till about midnight.
After a few occasions of getting my fingers burnt, I've actually taken to making sure that my skills finish before 5pm or after midnight because I can pretty much guarantee that I won't be able to log on. I can't now for instance. I can't wait till next week when I get switched over.

I tried to comment on the support sticky to help out with my experiences as requested but it wouldn't even let me comment on them saying that I had to log in to do it - even though I was logged in at the time!
That was the final straw.

I phoned up and after jumping through hoops to get the right number, I actually got treated very decently by the service rep.
The funny thing was he offered me a faster package with a new router for the same cost - till I pointed out that having faster broadband won't help me if Tiscali throttle it back to unmanageable levels anyway. Bless him - he was quite enthusiastic up until that point.

I made sure they knew why I jumped ship before I left. That's my effort for the cause.

Tiscali is a fuggen joke

like many others i lost connection today at about 2pm and i know from past experience that i will not be able to get back on eve till about 1am....its ridiculous.

before Christmas it was about 11.30pm before i could get back on.

whatever "changes" they have made are bad and should be removed!

What you guys are describing looks damn like that provider ran out of IP space for it's customers.

In order to still provide service during peak times they are cutting the users off who "block" their given IP for longer periods.

If that's infact true then the only solution to the problem is to change to another ISP.

Seriously, I can't figure out why any of you continue to give them your money after all the rubbish they put you through.
