So all told the latest patch has fixed a lot of the problems I was having with the mac client. I'm no longer crashing every 20-30 min which is nice to say the least because I can finally play for an extended period of time. Kudos to CCP and Transgaming for that. Still crashing occasionally, but I'm sure those bugs will be worked out eventually.

I am having a new issue that's rather weird however. If I sit idle in the game too long, either at a station or right outside one, the game clock will eventually start freaking out. It's almost like someone hit a "fast forward" button or something. The time and date will start rolling along at about a new day every 2 seconds and the graphics will start freaking out along with it (like the lights in a station moving around quicker, etc). Eventually I just have to quit out of the game. Now this would just be a minor annoyance since I don't sit idle very often if it didn't also completely reset all of my settings every time it does this. Graphics, audio, chat, overview settings... you name it and it's always back to default afterwards. Very annoying.

Anyone else have this happen to them? I'm about to go back to using Boot Camp to run the game which is a huge inconvenience for me.

That's not a new issue, for me. I've encountered that since Revelations 2.3 was released. For me, in-station the time increase is smooth. Outside of stations (for me, always in missions) things get very choppy (one frame every 3-4 seconds). I have yet to find anything in any logs that I can attach to a bug report. I had a report submitted, but it was closed due to lack of information beyond the explanation...but on the Mac client, sometimes I just can't find any relevant log entries!

Anyone have any idea where these settings are saved? Overview, chat, etc? I find two instances of a "config" file... one is in ~/Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences and the other is contained in the EVE Online.app package itself under Contents/Resources/Preferences. Neither seem to contain any information beyond graphics settings however.

Hoping I can find the actual config file that the game uses so I can back it up once I get things the way I want them. If I have to set up my Overview filters one more time I think I may go insane.

Also, I'm pretty sure now that this issue is memory related. I've had to go a couple days without rebooting now (copying some large files across the network) and the game has become unplayable due to this issue. I can't run the game for more than a minute or two before the bug starts up again. It even happens if I'm browsing the Market and not being completely idle. $20 says the problem goes away for awhile after I am able to reboot.

I found settings at Users/xxxUser/Library/Preferences/EVE Online Preferences
If I delete this EVE Online Preferences folder all my settings reset and some bugs go away.

In response to OP I have this same issue going. The EVE clock goes crazy (it's funny but if you set a skill the level will show as complete - train battleship V in a day! only when you log back on you discover that sadly it was only an illusion) and the client starts lagging.

I've had the same problem. It is pretty annoying. However, for me its not just when I'm idle. Every time I've engaged in PvP thus far I've had this problem and I have to force quit Eve. Also, every so often my settings will be reset and I'll have to redo Overview settings, bookmark folders ect... its really pretty annoying.

Until the client settles down, I'd recommend backing up your Eve prefs/settings every so often in another location. And there's always Time Machine if you're running Leopard.

Thanks for this, never would have found it on my own. It is still pretty annoying to have to deal with but at least now I don't have to manually reset my settings every time it happens.

I've heard about this too but never experienced this myself. Can you please send us bug reports on this issue where you describe when it happens and any other information that might be useful to know. Logs are very welcome too.

I'll try to grab logs next time, but i just wanted to echo the OP. Sequence of events for me is:
1. Time starts freaking out
2. Can't toggle between chat channels
3. ESC -> Quit Game to try and clear it
4. Relaunch game, prompted to accept EULA, all local settings wiped

Every 4-5 minutes, on EVERY login for me. Sigh...back to Boot Camp to await the next patch...

Exactly the same issue as FuriousMallard.

I also have random crashes a lot too.

Interestingly it doesn't seem to crash as much when not running through my external LCD. Probably not related though :)

My PC is awful so I really don't want to have to play on that and Bootcamp is cool, but takes up a lot of drive space.

MacBook Pro, 2.0 ghz, 2 gigs of RAM, Leopard 10.5.1

Do you have sound enabled or not? (hit esc and check Audio tab). There seems to be a problem with audio that may be causing other problems. I get a constant stream in my console.log of:
1/3/08 4:03:55 PM [0x0-0x39f39f].com.transgaming.EVEOnline err:dsound:DSOUND_CalcPlayPosition Wraparound detected! Secondary buffer may loop!

which stops once I disable audio.

No I have sound disabled as I heard it causes massive issues.

Today the client logs me out every 1-2 minutes as well! Its completely unplayable at the moment.

It doesn't seem to wipe settings for me, but to reproduce this, it always helps if I play windowed and have a lot of other apps open. At some point, with this scenario, I almost always get the strange speedup, followed by partial UI freezes, and a total crash.
