Hi everyone!

I'm a pretty "new" noob with 970k points.

I got some strange stuffs im my last missions(Drugs Pirate hunting). I got a drugdealer passcard and a 6th Tier Overseer's Personal Effects. What theese stuffs are for?

I got 1300000 ISK with a Catalyzed ColdGas I Arcjet Thruster, that is my top transaction!! It's that common?

I got 3.5 millions ISK, the most with looting pirates at 0.8 sectors. The rest I got with missions. It's that much money?

I found out some yellow wrecks full of gifts. When I transfered the modules to my ship a stealing warning showed up, a yellow agrression timer also showed up. What do they mean?

What is ratting?

Whats is the best ECM or ECCM a noob can use?

There is a counter for a Web?

Thaks a lot

Hi,

The passcard is useless as far as I know. The personal effects can be sold to concord for a good price.

That module is a large Named module. Named means it is not standard tech 1, but better, so they sell at higher prices. On top of that it's a cruiser or battleship module, so it's bigger, and you know what they say about bigger things...

3.5 million is not much, but not little either. It will buy a cruiser, without fittings, or fit out about 7 frigates. Just check the market, see what you want to get, look at attributes, required skills, and find out what you need and can handle.

Yellow wrecks are not yours. So taking from them is stealing. The person you stole from then has fifteen minutes to teach you that stealing is bad. If you are a nice guy for fifteen minutes (don't steal anything else) he loses his chance to teach you.

Ratting is killing pirate ships in belts and at gates. NPC pirates show up there. Player pirates too, but it is not recommended that you shoot at them near gates in lowsec, or highsec...

I don't know much about ECM and ECCM. It seems the second isn't used much considering the prices on the market. You can best look for setups for your ship on these forums, people will also say why they use what they use. ECM's aren't that popular as far as I know.

Web is best countered by getting out of range of it...

I hope that helps.

The Overseer's Personal Effects can be 'handed in to CONCORD' as proof that you have dispatched a powerful foe. What this actually means is that certain stations will have NPC buy orders for them, so the only practical use is to sell them on the market to get your reward. (The higher the tier, the more you will get for them). The drugdealer passcard is probably just a mission-specific item with no external use that I know of.

I'm not really sure what you're asking here. If you're asking whether that's a fair price for the cold-gas arcjets - I would have thought they would be a little less, but then if you sold them for that, that was their market value at the time. If you're asking whether > 1m ISK transactions are common - then yes, very much so.

It's all relative, really. If you like going out in T1 frigates with T1.named modules, then yes, that will keep you going for a while. If you're in a 0.0 alliance then that is pocket change, and won't even pay for insurance on your ship never mind the ship itself or the modules to fit it. If you're a big trader/manufacturer, your main unit of measurement will be billions, not millions. But for a new player, 3.5m ISK is a decent amount and you can outfit a very nice frigate with it. Bear in mind that cruisers cost around 3-6 million for the ship alone, and battleships cost 60-150m, and you can see that in the grand scheme of things it isn't that much. Don't be discouraged, though - you'll be amazed at how quickly your income grows as you get on to bigger and better things! (3.5m is very good for someone with under 1m skill points!)

If the wreck is yellow, instead of white, then it is owned by another player, and any items inside that wreck/can are also owned by them. If you transfer these into your cargohold, then you have stolen from that player, and they are free to open fire on you and destroy your ship for 15 minutes. Thus I doubt this was actually a 'gift', probably just someone wanting easy pickings. (If you can avoid them for 15 minutes - e.g. dock and stay docked - there is nothing they can do about it from that point on).

If someone really wants to give you a gift, you should both dock in the same station and they can open a trade window with you. This way you can receive stuff from them without them being allowed to kill you.

What is ratting?

Ratting is destroying the NPC pirates (rats) that are found in asteroid belts in 0.8 space and below. These rats have a bounty that you automatically receive for killing them. It is generally not worth ratting in high-sec space due to the low bounties on the rats found there. However, low-sec and 0.0 ratting can be very lucrative (from bounties, and the fact that there is a very small chance of a 'faction spawn' that drops rare and valuable modules).

First, there are different types of these modules for the type of sensor they affect (Gravimetric = Caldari, Magnetometric = Gallente, Radar = Amarr, Ladar = Minmatar). When fitting ECCM, always fit for your own ship's sensors. Additionally, I think the 'Prototype' ECCMs are the most effective you can fit. With ECMs, the best ones depend on the type, but are the ones with 3.6 strength. Use the 'Compare' function on the modules to see the best.

The passcard allows you access to some drug-related Deadspace complex. Hang on to it. If you ever come across a locked acceleration gate, you might want to return there with the passcard in your cargo hold and see if it works.

The Overseer's Personal Effects are a trophy, a proof that you've beaten the complex. This item can be sold, I believe, to military or CONCORD stations for some extra money.

Yes and no. What you have just scored is called a "named" item. Its performances are slightly better than the normal items you are used to. The difference is that named items can never be produced; they are exclusively found in space, which makes their value quite high if the demand is there. Also, the bigger the ship the module's intended for (I think yours goes on a battleship?), the higher the price.

This heavily depends on your goals, and what you want to do with your EVE life. To give you a perspective, here is the price for some items in the EVE world:
Frigate - 100,000 ISK
Cruiser - 4,000,000 ISK
Battlecruiser - 20,000,000 ISK
Mining Barge - 20,000,000 ISK
Battleship - 70,000,000 ISK
Elite Mining Barge - 175,000,000 ISK
Navy Issue Battleship - 700,000,000 ISK
Battleship unlimited edition production blueprint - 1,000,000,000 ISK
Carrier - 2,000,000,000 ISK
Titan - 60,000,000,000 ISK and upwards

Yellow containers do not belong to you. If you choose to take items from those containers, its owners have the legal right to fire at you for 15 minutes and attempt to destroy your ship, no matter the security of space you are in.

Ratting is the process of going from asteroid belt to asteroid belt, and destryoing the NPC pirates (also known as "rats") for the bounties and items they give out.

They are useless against rats. For now, I suggest not minding about ECM and ECCM until you begin player VS player combat.

There is a duration timer, but it is not visible. Right-click on your webifier module, and you'll see what it is in its attributes (probably ten seconds). Aside from that, you can only count to ten aloud.

Not directly. Afterburners and Microwarpdrives make you go faster, so in that respect counter the speed reduction of a web. However, to get rid of the web effects, you need to stop the other ship from activating the web on you. Ways to do this include:

* Fly more than 10km away from them - webs have a maximum range of 10km (with a few exceptions that you can safely ignore for now).
* Destroy the other ship (of course).
* Make the other ship lose his lock on you - this can be done via ECM, or by using Remote Sensor Dampeners to reduce his locking range to less than your current distance.
* Make him unable to activate the web - this is technically possibly by using Energy Neutralisers to drain his capacitor so he doesn't have the energy to activate the web. In practice however this is not very feasible as the web has a relatively long cycle time and relatively low energy usage so it would be infeasible to keep him at a very low level of capacitor for long enough to be useful.

I think that's about it!

I just came back after a three year hiatus. This is really valuable to me to put things in perspective.

Oddness - it's a named 1MN Microwarpdrive, so it's for frigates. Now that I read the "Catalysed" bit at the start and realised it was a microwarpdrive and not an afterburner, 1.3m ISK seems a little on the low side. You probably would have got more money if you put up your own sell order rather than just selling it straight off.

Oh, and 2 billion ISK for a carrier is a bit over the top. You can get any of them for 800-900m from ICSC, and often for 750m on the market (I saw an Archon the other day for under 700m, which was a pretty good price). The others seem about right (given that there is a wide variation between tiers) - although I have no idea about the Titan, and in many ways it doesn't have a market value since I doubt you'd find a seller. Smile
