The Fifth Alliance tournament is going to be going ahead in early March next year (see here for the Dev Blog).

In the New Year we will be finalising the rules and points, but for now, please use this thread to post any feedback / suggestions / opinions on what you would like to see.

All the best,
CCP Mindstar

I think some sort of shipclass-diversity-enforcement (tm) would be cool, to avoid 10 of the same ships in one team for example. Other then that, the last tournament was really really good!

I wonder if the new EAS will be used in the tournament, they could work out very well in this tournament I think! Mini Recon for little points ftw!

Have penalties for having the same exact ship hull like for example +1 per additional ship of the same class cost so two ships costing 10 points originally would be 21 total and 3 ships would be 32 instead of 30.

Would it also be possible to have points spent for rule change or warfare bonus?

Also I know you guys are against super ultra special ships but why not allow winners to earn a ship of choice that isnt one of the uniques or a capitol as part of the rewards? Navy Faction or pirate faction ships and down.

Also other than that and little bit more points to allow the new t2 battleships and few more heavier fights. or maybe points bonus for not having a full squadron the full squadron.

I disagree, the last tournament showed that there was no need to enforce diversity, the diversity of ships and tactics in eve alone provided that!

I think the rules last time were excellent. The only thing it needs is a few tweaks to the points cost (i.e. faction BS and Tech 2 BS with the same cost and slightly cheaper than they were last time).

I thought the last tournament was highly entertaining. I disagree with the idea of penalising people who use more then one of the same type of ship, silly idea. If they think it can work, let them go with it. There were many examples in the last tourney of people trying that and getting thrashed by multi-ship setups. Plus, we have the introduction of the EAS and the Marauders this time ... should be very interesting.

I doubt anyone will be using the hictors or the black-ops classes. I honestly don't see too much of a use, apart from maybe the t2 scorp. Maybe ...

The only thing really that may need some thinking is the marauders points. What was a BS worth last time? I think double points is too much considering they have less sensor strength and not double the damage output. Maybe x1.5 of the BS? Yeah? And yeah, faction BS incurred too many points last time. Hardly saw them ... would be great to be able to.

My two cents, anyway. And go Star Fraction! Best fight last time! Very Happy

I'd like to see the disqualification rules modified. For example if you bring to many points, the other team gets to remove ships (their choice, one at a time) from your setup until the total is below the limit. Means we still get a battle, probably a total hell death, and the tournament keeps flowing.

What would you remove... logistics or alpha strike? So even the team that is choosing the elimination ships has to make choices.

True, but I'd still rather have guys that have taken part in the actual tournament decide the rules, since they know it best. I've been a part of 3 Alliance Tournaments, I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about.

Let avoid the few unpleasant things we had last time.

1. Let us know what the countdowns are for. Especially when times are running late.
2. Communicate with the participants when they have questions before the match, even during a countdown.

/signed. Look at the 'issues' from last time and see what can be done specifically for those situations. Countdowns, early movement and points spring to mind. How about staging out of the arena, then warp in to start immediately. No hanging around in the arena first. Let the GM issue a warp broadcast then it is on!!

It would be awesome if when people win the tournament, they were actually given the prizes that were advertised, instead of being screwed over on some bull**** technicality by GM's and CCP employees who bare a grudge against them.

Please, allow warping within the arena and to fleet members so that opposing ships must fit warp inhibitors.

If you have any suggestions, by all means post them for all to see.

This thread is here specifically to get feedback and ideas - especially from players that have been involved in previous tournaments. While there is no official "player committee" to make rules, we will still be watching very closely what players have to say.

I made a post on Scrapheap about what I'd like to see changed, so I'll summarize it here.

- Faction BS cost reduced, cost of the 3 T1 BS types and Command seperated, with Command Ships costing the least and the Tier 3 Battleships costing the most. However, I imagine your planning on addressing that anyway, so I won't dwell on it.

- Prizes! Now I remember you saying before the last tournament in that little meeting we had on Sisi (the one with DHB Wildcat arguing) that you wanted to focus on the alliances for prizes, but that idea clearly sank. The pilots deserve the plaudits, and they should get top notch prizes, not the bilge that was offered in the last tournament. Some unique ships please, more Corvuses and Storms would be nice. Make it worthwhile, instead of giving out standings and normal faction battleships. The argument of affecting wars last time was a pretty poor one, and I think you should listen to the community at large for this one.

As an add-on to the above point, possibly consider giving (small) prizes to every team that enters, considering the effort that is involved. Maybe like the 2nd tournament give a CNR or something to every team that shows up for all of their matches.

- Remove beacon warping, and decrease arena size. Luck was a large factor of the last tournament, due to the beacon warp ins added with the large arena. I'd like to see fixed warp ins (as in the first few tournaments) and perhaps reduce the arena size a tad. This would make for shorter battles and more boom boom.

- Limit ECM. Damping won't suck as much as last time due to scripts, but ECM once again brings a too large factor of luck to the proceedings. Possibly limit how many can be on each ship or something.

If I think of anything else, you know I'll post it Laughing

Please help level the playing field by disallowing the major rat faction implants (snakes, crystals, ect.). That one change would really help the tourney be more about the teams and tactics than the uber-wealthy and the typical people/corps/alliances.

Other than that, I thought the rules and procedures for the last round were fine.
