Ok, so i started installing EVE on ubuntu 7.10, and i downloaded the package, it unpacked, and almost finished installing. But then my computer froze, and i had to reboot. When i got back up and running, i see that eve is installed. but neither the config of the launcher start. In terminal i get the following:

Single-user install...
This is the update checker...
Running /home/user/.cedega/.updater/
/home/user/.cedega/.updater/ RuntimeWarning: Python C API version mismatch for module gddb_parser: This Python has API version 1013, module gddb_parser has version 1012.

IOError: [Errno socket error] (110, 'Connection timed out')
Running... /home/user/.cedega/.ui/runGUI
exec: 52: /home/user/.cedega/.ui/runGUI: not found

Now, how do i a) fix this or b) uninstall (its not in the add remove area) this so i can reinstall it. btw, i am pretty much Linux noob, so i may as many dumb questions, i.e.e how to uninstall.

EDIT: Hold up, i rebooted and now it's doing something....

EDIT: Ok, well, it starts up, but wont load the "scroll down to contune" text, so i guess i have to reinstall anyway. I still want to know how to unistall and then re-install.

Because the .deb package is not a real package, doing a

sudo apt-get remove eve

will just remove the installer, not the game content. To do that you must also

rm -rf ~/.cedega

unless you installed it somewhere else.

the installation went smooth for me on my Ubuntu 7.10.

And given the error:
IOError: [Errno socket error] (110, 'Connection timed out')

I would just retry and see if it was a temporary connection problem.

If that doesn't work check if you have problems with
a) proxy
b) your firewall
Port blocked or something?

Did Eve ever work on the same machine?
Did you have it running with Wine before?
(BTW the wine version had less issues - until Trinity at least - now wine needs to catch up a bit - almost done it seems).
