If you cant get more out of MinBS then ur certainly doing something wrong or lack the skills.
The Mealstrom is awesome in small gangs, the Temp is a great fleetship, the ACpest is nice aswell
and the typhoon has a 1300 DPS potetial with the new Torpedo buff.

Ahh, the joys of comparing ships at maximum skills.

Let's take a look at the megathron, shall we?

1200 dps, with a buffer tank of near 30k armour, total of 125k effective hp (This is with Trimarks obviously. Why wouldn't you fit trimarks on a buffer tank?)

BETTER tracking for the Hybrids, BETTER damage for the hybrids, Higher optimal range (thus the range at which you do full damage). Cap usage is around 18 for every gun, but with a completely passive tank. Cap boosters allow you to use your guns for 6 and a half minutes each cycle.

Minmatar on the flipside have higher fall off, so we can start dishing out cruiser sized damage 10k earlier, and as we get closer do around the same damage as a brutix. \0/

Better tracking, better damage, better damage spread (Thermal+kinetic+Explosive from Berserker II's), all at the valuable cost of some cap.

Yes, I think it's quite safe to say that minmatar BS have a problem. :P

But meh, they're fun to fly and they look great, so less whinging and more playing. \0/ Cross train if you can't stand the megathron being better, or start training for the most skill intensive ship in the game, the phoon. Which as gotten a nice little boost, I may add. <3

Only Minie Battleship that have an "issue" is the tempest. And that one is, its extreme versatility makes is master of really nothing.

But if you want a brute force approach compare.. try a Maelstrom versus the Megathron. You can pretty much tank ALL the Mega dps, while chewing him with 1kdps of mostly explosive damage. A typhoon can get 35k armor and 980 dps of again, mostly explosive damage with less cap concearns than the megathron, while being faster than any BS and a lot of BCs. For sure typhoon don have issues.

The main issue with tempest is the same one that affects hyperion. 6 low slots is not enough for a strong active tank AND good damage. At same time it lacks enough CPU to fit any useful shield tank. With the layout it has it must operate in a NON brute force approach, kiting and hunting smaller targets. But it is pretty good on that role. A 7th turret would be overpowered on it. What i think can be asked reasonably is a tiny bit more CPU so it can go for a shield tank OR use Siege II in extra high slots.

Even so, an AC tempest will defeat a Plate balster mega most of times, simply by staying at 18-20 km all time and slooowly chewing its armor.

Eh? That buffer is uniform damage distribution. O_o Not sure what you are going on about. Unless of course you forgot to add the trimarks into the mix, in which case the question arises: Why wouldn't you fit trimarks on a buffer tank?

I fly a mega myself, this is the setup I'd use if I could use t2 large hybrids:

[Megathron, Gank]
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
Magnetic Field Stabilizer II
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
1600mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
Energized Adaptive Nano Membrane II
'Radical' Damage Control I

Quad LiF Fueled I Booster Rockets
J5 Prototype Warp Inhibitor I
X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
Heavy Capacitor Booster II, Cap Booster 800

Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
Neutron Blaster Cannon II, Void L
[empty high slot]

Trimark Armor Pump I
Trimark Armor Pump I
Trimark Armor Pump I

Ogre II x5

Works like a charm, 125k hp buffer, 1200 dps.

Oh and kagura: Maelstrom is useless. Learn to accept that fact. ;)

Disclaimer: I am being facetious. I am aware maelstrom has its (limited) uses, I just really dislike the ship.
