You would like to enjoy eve but your connection to the server seems to be is very slow and you keep disconnecting from the server after minutes or you are behind a company firewall or a proxy server that is denying you your right to play eve ;).

This workaround might be a solution to solve your problems.

You need a working connection to the internet.
You need administrator rights on your computer.

Software requirement
This solution is for Windows XP.

To get things started we need the following software
OpenVPN 2.1 or later, to download it, go to
You can use the 2.09 version but I highly recommend to use the 2.1 version as it reduces the cpu load and reduces the ping sigificant.

Further more you will need the your freedom client
please get the lastest version of that client from

Further requirements
You have to create an account with your freedom. Do this here

This account is free but will have limitations, I go more into details later. For starter just create an account and verify it in order to be able to use their service.

Please install the OpenVPN and the Your Freedom client using the default install (you can select to install the software for your entire machine or just for you as a user, that is up to you)

Reboot your machine.


After the reboot please open the your freedom client and a wizard will be shown to you. Process the wizard using the default values.

Once you have done this open the your freedom client window and open the ports tab. Check the openVPN selection and leave the Port on 1194. Now change back to the status tab and press start connection. If you start eve now, you should be able to play eve online without disconnects.


OK. As you might realize the performance of this configuration is ... well ... lacking. :D

Lets tweak the performance a little. Open the your freedom client, select the tab status and press the configure button.
The best server to use for playing eve currently is as p2p traffic is restricted on that server.

Please type that server into the address into the initial server field. Disable encryption, re-keying, as this will ease the cpu load and is not nessesary for our needs.

In the server selection tab, we require openvpn support, low server load, european server, voip server and interactive server, we dont want p2p and north american servers and we dont care about high volume.

Account info should be fine as is.

Proxy settings. Please enter your proxy settings here, if you dont use on, just leave it empty.

OpenVPN is next and that is the the juicy part. If you enable the YF (your freedom) client, all your traffic will be first send to the your freedom server and then into the internet. But we dont want that, as we want to use our internet as it is, just that eve bit should be using this tunnel. So we have to exclude everything except the eve server from this connection.

So we click add and add the following networks (one by one). It is a pain to enter, so be sure you make no errors.

IP Netmask /1 /2 /3 /4 /5 /6 /7 /8 /9 /10 /11 /12 /13 /14 /15 /16 /17 /18 /19 /20 /21 /22 /23 /24 /25 /26 /27 /28 /29 /30 /31

OK, after entering this, save and exit the configuration and start the YF connection. To verify your changes, open a command window and type in “route print” and press enter.

If one of the entires listed is you made no mistake entering the excludes! Congratulation. /me reaches for the black stuff. ... oh wait ... there is more.

Open the YF main window and select the tab Ports. We have been here before to change to enable the OpenVPN port. Uncheck the box Flatten traffic bursts. If you do so your eve voice, a very nice and handy feature btw, beats TS hands down, will stop breaking up if you use this tunnel.

Further tuning:

The free YF account is limited to 8kb up and down and you are only allowed to use this service 6h per day and 18h per week. So if you find this solution is working for you I highly recommend to pay for you YF account. The basic should be enough for one client + voice. I myself got me the enhanced package, as I dont want to experience any connection speed related problems.

Please review or for further informations regarding installation and problems with this software.

Hope this works for you as it works for me. If it does, please keep in mind that the disconnection problem you had before are not CCP's fault. BLAME YOUR PROVIDER AS I DO!

So what for do i download openVPN if i dont even need to run it ?

FOr now it works :) IF it wont disconnect for more that 3hour you will be my GOD :)
