Anyone running xp on boot camp who may have been affected by the boot.ini file unfortunate incident I have hacked together a quick and easy 3 step fix that can be done under your Mac OS.

I have documented it HERE

Hope this helps someone else out.

Very interesting. I think before i try your method, i will try the method using a windows CD and the recovery console, though i'm not totally sure how to do it with that method either.

My windows partition on my imac under bootcamp does not have a boot.ini file, so there was nothing to fix. I assume this is because mac efi boots the computer before allowing you to choose operating systems.

I tried this however, it didn't work on my machine. If it doesn work for you try the following:

Download and create a boot disc of 'Knoppix' when in Mac OS X, when booted in knoppix you can force mount your WinXP partition and edit/create a boot.ini file.

Knoppix

How to force mount while in Knoppix:
