EDIT: Should I start a new thread for each of my many problems with the new client, or should I put them all here and rename the topic?

I am trying to use the official client, but it won't use ALSA audio. Running the system tests, both sound systems work, but when I actually start the client it only uses OSS. Now, I *like* the EVE audio -- but not to the exclusion of all else, and I certainly don't want to run it without sound. This is doubly troubling because a plain WINE install has no trouble with ALSA - but Trinity won't run under WINE, at least for me.

The audio settings are at their default, with ALSA selected. My sound driver appears to be snd_hda_intel. I will be happy to provide any further information that might help.

Setting the pcm device to 'default' as mentioned in gets ASLA working; however, there are now strange and highly annoying audio blips every few seconds. This effect is reduced by using fewer sounds, and is not really noticable with the music off and not in a station with an audio background. It sucks, but I can live with it if I really have to.

Just curious, but what version of alsa are you running? (not having issues here with 1.0.14 + nvidia onboard sound. (nforce4 motherboard.)
