Right, another major problem.

I have attempted this workaround 3 times. I have downloaded the entire client 3 times now, and every time, the disk fails to mount every single time.

Basically, I need a work arround for a work arround to work

Sort it out CCP.

Reason:

The reason for this is that when we first released the Mac for EVE, we had one version of the cider engine out there. After that, on the 27th, we released an update which took people from the starter build of the cider engine to another build.
What the EVE-Online Auto patcher in game does is that it detects the build number of the EVE Client and does not take into account what Cider build you are having, but the patch downloaded does. So if you are running another cider build than the patch expects you to do, the patch will fail and ask you to reinstall.

Workaround:

The workaround for this is to download the full installer here: http://www.eve-online.com/download/

Will it happen again?

No. This will not happen again in future builds as we have implemented a Cider autopatcher (non related to the EVE Online Autopatcher) that will take everyone to the latest build to prevent this mismatch from happening again.

I am very sorry that this happened.

Its cool, bugs happen. Some worse than others. boot.ini a good example.
At least we have an idea why the auto patching failed now.
Certainly I for one had the very first version of eve-cider, then used the previous bug fix patch. So I guess yes, i would have the older version of the cider client.

Thanks for the response. Its the communication that matters most in these things.
Keep your heads up, its going to be a bad few days, but hang in there.

Make sure you've downloaded the whole file. Sometimes (especially using wireless) downloads can timeout and appear to be complete when they aren't. The full DMG file should be about 827MB in size.

Thank you so much for this response Casqade. First of all, anyone who did NOT know that we Mac users would have to wait for the new graphics is either lazy or lacks common sense. In my opinion, that information was, well....everywhere (and obvious). Other than that, despite the frustration I think most of us are just happy to have a Mac client at all, and I for one am willing to be a guinea pig while we move forward with this venture. Thanks for your hard work.

From the very beginning of download, the file reads as 803MB. Therefore there is clearly something missing. Can anyone assist me by suggesting to me a reason why this is the case, as well as suggesting any possible fix for the missing 24MB?

My full download was only 803 mb, and it worked fine. Let's not overcomplicate things. Cool

Apparently 803MB won't cut it for me. No joy.

Or maybe... as much as people around here seem to think the world will cave in if you dare to mention the existence of other MMOs... those people are used to the way OTHER developers.... the one I'm thinking of starts with a "b"... rhymes with "lizard".... handle their patches and expansions.

Maybe we think we have a right to expect the same level of service, considering we're giving the same amount of money to CCP as to that *other* MMO developer.

It's not a lack of common sense to expect a complete product for your money. And I'd say the laziness lies with the failure to deliver that complete product, not with the people who are unhappy about that incompleteness.

We are lucky to have a Mac client at all! CCP is not Blizzard, and we shouldn't wish for them to be! Eve is a niche game (for now), CCP is a smaller company. This mac client is only a first step. The release of the Mac client happened to be relatively close to the Trinity launch, but it is pretty unreasonable (if you know much about computer/game development) to expect CCP and TransGaming to have a premium graphics version of the Trinity patch ready immediately. It's all going to be free for God's sake. Sometimes I just don't understand these forums...

Don't look a gift horse in the mouth people.
