I am having some kind of problem with icons of ships in my ship hanger in station. Every time I open the window it reloads them from scratch instead of keeping them in the cache, this worked ok the first few times.

now the window is open and the client crashes trying to load the icons, upon restart the client freezes up and does not recover, at this point I am unable to use my account because of this. Not ****ed or anything just hope it gets fixed soon :p

I can't get AA to work at all, even with HDR off. I have a GeForce 7800 and AA worked even on Trinity on SiSi.

Apologies if client corruption problems have been answered - I don't have time to read the entire thread. I got this problem when playing around with Trinity on Singularity. You will need to nuke some of your cached client data. This will basically solve most of the problems people are seeing with corrupt client data messages as well.

Goto:

C:\Documents and Settings\<User>\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\settings

(Note "Local Settings" is a hidden folder)

Delete everything in that Settings subfolder. Now EVE should work.

Caveats! You will loose a lot of your in game settings, e.g.
* Overview settings
* Custom folders in people and places (really annoying this one)
* Window layouts
* Other stuff!

Loosing some of those settings really sucks, but at least you'll be able to play EVE again.

Note I've found deleting the contents of the "machonet" subfolder is also generally a good idea on patch day. This also contains a bunch of cached stuff that will get re-downloaded.

*** Premium Client ***
If you alt-tab out of eve and then alt-tab back in, the engine trails are almost completely gone. Talk about size that matters....

If you look at the point where nebula clouds merge into real black empty space you can see a hard, fuzzy edge...

Quality is set to highest with antialiasing, supersampling and hdr and and and all being at maximum so it can't be an issue with poor settings.

Lookey here:

Click here for 1.4 MB PNG version

Aside from that, is there a way to raise the transparency of those new wannabe-transparent chat windows? They are still way too dark!

I am still vomiting because of the colors we Gallenteans have to endure. Whoever is responsible for going whacko with his color table should be keelhauled.

I have the blueprint, mech eng. and starship eng. datacores and the ship data interface in the lab hanger. It sees the blueprint but not datacores or the ship data interface they come up as red in the accept quote window.

You can nerf a great alliance with no problems. But making sure your much advertised content acutally works.....

When you have fixed it give me a shout, I'll be Running a Dungeon.

Could you please file a bug report about this, so that we can look into this further. Thanks. Very Happy

when I launch the client and put in my Acc and PW, this comes out:

"connection failed - Could not connect to the specified address. Odds are that you have not established an internet connection, the server isn't running, or the server address or port number was wrong."

Server status is Unknown... I turned off my Firewall, and rebotted computer... even with firewall out is still not working.

Some people had the same problem with Sisi while back when Trinity was released on test... Yet I can't apply the same hotfix

Quoted for being an awesome post Smile

Just to add, in some cases clearing the cache AND the settings folders is required.

My computer ran out of HDD space during the premium content install, but now the patch refuses to continue the install saying "Premium content already installed".

What files do I need to clear from the main directory in order to let the patch run?

Running Geforce 6800 video card. When in station, ship graphics show correctly. After undocking, all ships, stations, jumpgates, etc are white holes. Occasionally moving the camera view around will cause graphics to show correctly from one specific angle (front view, left of centerline, slightly below horizontal).

Count me as number 5 in this thread who can't enter any text into the game, login or otherwise. I can however tab through the controls in Settings, but that is it. I've tried clearing the cache through the ingame option, but it looks like the settings at login were left untouched so I will be removing them manually and see what happens.

Completely removing all of the cache files did nothing. I should also note that the first time I logged in it worked fine. It was only after I exited the first time that I was unable to enter text.

Using the official Linux Client, but I don't think the others were. I would submit a bug report but there are no instructions for running the LogServer under Linux Mad

My GPU is supported by Trinity.

Some screenies.

My options screen

Please, help. I want to see the lovely graphics.

This is the exact problem I'm having.

I am running a NVIDIA GForce 7800, a compatable card. I have the current DirectX and have run every test I can find, all confirming that I should be able to run Premium. My comp is new and awesome. There should be no system requirement issue. What's going on?

There should be a nice fat 600 - 800mb file sitting in your EVE cache folder that you can delete. This will reset your premium download.

A lot of players on Sisi in the past weeks have reported that this issue is fixed by getting the latest graphics drivers.

Same problem in my laptop... the only thing in common with your configuration is the NVidia
(here: Nvidia Quadro NVS120, Intel 2.16GHz , Windows XP)

The screen freeze for about a minute .... then works fine for about 5 minutes ..and freeze for a minute again :(

Unfortunately the game is now broken for me. Once I have upgraded and log off and then log on again I have to sign the EULA and all my settings are lost!!!

I did the install several times now from an older copy and each time I get the same problem. And that is starting with '/end /LUA:OFF' (I never run without).

So this looks like it is basically end of the line for me for now (despite having a subscription for a year still). I am going to try it a few more times to see if I can get it to work somewhat. If not, I will have to skip playing. No way I am going to reinstall everything every time I log on...thats just too frustrating.

More info:

upgraded to latest client and when run directly from the installer (launch eve), thigs work fine until I log off. If after installing I do not choode to run directly from installer, I have already lost all my settings.

This tells me that on disk the installer messed up things that cannot be undone. But the installer apparently starts eve differently. I suspect the installer launches the updated eve with a hint that is based on the old install, allowing the upgraded one to lock onto my settings properly.

From there the upgraded EVE does nothing to keep this lock, and on next run forgets who I am again and with that all my settings and starts over with defaults.

SOLVED IT

I copied my settings manually to my account specific EVE folder (I have 2 accounts, each using radically different settings). The copy was from "C:\Documents and Settings\<my user name>\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\settings" to my EVE\CACHE\SETTINGS withing my eve installation folder. The prefs.ini I then moved up 1 folder.

Its like after the install the additional command line arguments were ignored/not passed on to eve when i ran it straight after the patch from the installer. The files ended up in the wrong folder and when later started with the instruction to use the old style settings location, EVE found them to be from an old version and ignored them altogether.

Really CCP get away from that idea that all user data should be managed by applications and stored in some centralized place. It is a nightmare patch and backup wise and you really don't make anyone happy with it.

Well my issue is solved, I can keep playing, but it could all have been prevented by not blindly following Microsoft Vista guidelines. Keeping things simple is always better when that ** just works **.

If you have it set to force AA try disabling it, this was happening to me and that seems to be the cause.

Another problem im having on my laptop, 9600 ATI mobility card anything over 1024x768 resolution causes a massive drop in FPS running the eve classic client.

Wow...Unlikely. See microsoft's site on that one... It's a text file, so it should be easy to replace, as long as you know your drive setup / OS location.

EDIT:...yea...oops...I think you must have seen the problems / solution by now...doh!

Can you try running the logserver when you start up your client, and submit the files it generates as a bug report so that we can look into this issue further.

Also try opening a command prompt (start -> run -> "cmd") and type the following:
tracert 87.237.38.200
and paste the results in here.

Having Trouble Logging In?

If you are receiving the "corrupt" error.

First try deleting your cache C:\Documents and Settings\User\Local Settings\Application Data\CCP\EVE\cache

If this does not work, create a shortcut to your eve.exe file and add to the end of the target /end /LUA:OFF so it would look like this "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe" /end /LUA:OFF

Then use the shortcut to access EVE.

-Nate

whats the LUA bit?

local user account by turning this command off it places the cache in the eve install directory.
