So Advanced Capital Ship Component BPOs, still no love for them actually being seeded? I still can't spot them in either of Lonetrek, The Citadel or The Forge...

Small little error in the Patch Notes:

"Hacking containers have been removed from the following sites: Contested Minmatar Army Complex, Contested Caldari Lai Dai Refinery, Port Maphante and Contested Skeleton Comet. Modules"

In fact only the containers that yielded decryptors have been removed. The containers that yield the COSMOS build components are still there. Additionally, the other hacking complexs (like in Friggi) have had the same change but are not listed here. The word "Modules" needs to be moved down a line and bolded for the next section.

So all invention decryptors are now only to be found via exploration. Not sure if the encryption skill books are the same, but is very likely.

Nice patch by the way Smile

I'm finding the effects volume to be overpowering compared to the music volume. Perhaps a separate slider for effects.

In order to properly hear the music I have to turn the speakers up, the sound effects are too loud when I do this.

Also it would be good to listen to just the music and no sound effects.

EDIT:

Also eve voice, mouse buttons 3,4,5 would be nice to use but the game isnt recognising those buttons on my logitech mouse for use with voice.

Would be good to be able to select any button to use.

Keypad 0 is nice choice but same with pressign any letter/number key u end up writing in the chat boxes.

To be able to use keypad 0 (INS) with numlock off would work.

the option to select to use any key u wish would be better mefinks.

Just a shame that so many people just now realize that certain ships have gone backwards in looks, i profoundly dislike the looks of most black (BLACK!! HAH!!) caldari ships now.

Oh well... i might not bother to do the so called 'premium' graphics update even ans 9 out of 10 times i zoom out anyways and only see the ships as lil blips.

guess will see.

My 4 year old machine aquired an 8800GT a few months back when DX10 games started to appear. Other than that it's a old box. So long as shadows are set to 'low' it loves the new graphics. I havent seen any of the pixilation and other problems people are reporting. The thing that stands out the most is the glow mapping on windows for ships and stations, it looks freaking awesome.

I'm miffed that i'm going to have to repair my BOOT.INI when I get home however. Luckily I have my Vista CD, and should be able to fix it in 20 seconds flat.

Gallente always looked like some of the worst ships, they never had a real theme like any of the other races, and it always seemed like they were basically just the models that the developers had made and wanted to use but they didn't fit into any other catagory...

And now they are friggin teal or some crap? That's the gallente theme now? Teal? Why do all of my ships look like some kind of new-age hippie space mobile? Especially the thanatos, come on I spend all this time getting one and now it looks awful. The model is great, don't get me wrong, but the coloring is absolutely terrible.

I'd rather it be the old darkish puke-green color. I realize we're based off the french and for that we must be silly looking, but this is just excessive.

Oh yeah and your patch is horribly bug ridden, fire the QA department if you want to salvage any credibility. Thanks!

I don't know if this has been covered yet (sorry, I'm NOT reading through 8 pages of comments, that's for the devs and gms to do.)

An annoyance with the new UI: The "Selected Item" section just above the overview is now it's own separate window. Normally this would be good, except that it's impossible to CLOSE the window. All you can do is either minimize it down to the bottom of the screen (Upon docking and undocking it will just pop back up to where it was), leave it where it is (being all big and useless and taking up screen real-estate), or move it elsewhere on the screen (still taking up screen real-estate).

Please either bring back the old behavior (being able to permanently shrink it up to the top to save screen real-estate, but still pop it down again when and if needed) or allow us to permanently close it (not the preferred behavior since it is occasionally wanted). But being FORCED to have it either open ALL THE TIME or annoyingly minmized down to the bottom of the screen was a bad bad bad UI design decision. The previous behavior was inspired design, the current behavior is bad design.

One last thing, please Pod the person who thought this particular idea was good, it's NOT.

Thank you.

1st impression:

Trinity sucks, because

- The graphical update won't work for me, I don't have shader model 3.0 (Ati x850 here).
- The new overview made window management an even bigger pain than it was already.

Try double-clicking on the title-bar. This should shrink it back up; this works on pretty much any window with a title bar now.

A couple of things I've noticed soo far:
- Torps explore doing 0 damage. Maybe because of lowered range but why explode if they never get there?
- Local chat got buggy if you switch between windows. The scroll down feature is enabled when there is no need and local shows empy though there are 15 people in it. Happens when switching local\corp\alliance
- NPC nexus buy orders are gone!!! This is HUGE! It was the main benefit of running missions in low sec. Now what? I hope this is just a bug.
- The Abandon Drones button too close to Return to Bay. This will frustrate many people going forward. Not even sure who needs "abandon drones" feature.

THats my 5 cents. Thanks

Can I get some more info about the issues with X1950 video cards? The known issues page only has the following info:

  • The Trinity client causes graphical issues with ATI X1950 video cards.
  • ATI X1950 video cards have problems with rendering suns and related effects.

  • As a X1950 owner, I'm interested to know what the 'graphical issues' are and if they are only limited to 'rendering suns and related effects'. I tried Trinity on SiSi a few days ago and the graphics were fine, apart from some odd pixilation with HDR enabled.

    Cheers,

is that possible with this computer (i thought that was)?

and if that's possible, why have i no access to premium graphics?

Same problem like me - Ati x850 does not support shader model 3.0. Whatever that is, it is required to run the premium content.

Those without shader model 3.0 are just not premium enough for ccp. ^^

I've sent in a petition regarding this (which like most petitions will get nowhere). I'd like to say very nice job on the graphics overhaul CCP, but terrible nerf on torps. Velocity was increased 20%, launcher RoF was decreased by 25%. That's all well and good, but it doesn't matter now because I can't hit a f***ing BS orbiting at 25K. I mean really, 30 secs flight time reduced to 6?? If I wanted heavy assault missiles, I'd fly a Sac. My Raven was the ultimate lvl 4 mission boat and now I have to switch to cruise missiles which barely scratch a 1mil BS. Once again, a perfect weapon with nothing wrong with it gets nerfed. Guess we can expect the market to get flooded with faction siege launchers. I know mine will be there.

Wow, just.. WOW. I logged in Trinity and was like Shocked. The graphics are amazing! With excellent FPS, on an MMO!

    I just have 2 questions:

I get great framerate when docked in an Amarr station, but whenever I enter a gallente/minmatar/caldari station, frames drop to 15-20. Why? Odd, but not too important.

Whatever happened to that button that rolled up the overview instead of minimizing it? I don't need the overview in the way when I am wandering about.. wondering if the button moved or I just can't see it.

Glad to know that, The next question is; If I shrink the "Selected Item" window, will the "Overview" window snap to it? IE: shrink up the "SI" window, "Overview" follows it up. Bring the "SI" back down, and the "Overview" moves down with it. Or will the two windows just move separately? If they move separately that will be a problem.

Just wanna say nice transition you guys did at CCP.

Ability to have new or old graphics in same content. Don't know if servers were up in time or how late they were. But in my experience it must be the smoothest transition to a new patch with this much new content Ive experienced so far in EvE.

New GFX is downloading at 340kb/s. Wich is also impressive.

You got atleast a CCP guy in rens talking to ppl and answering questions . Again awesome.

    So good work.

Logged in with Classic. Quite nice, I can finaly customise my UI (overview, target list) etc.

    Some things to note:

    1. Drone window. When I first deployed my drones, it VANISHED and poped up again in a few seconds with all drones in space. I nearly freaked out when it vanished. It does not do this on scoop/relaunch.

    2. I want to TURN OFF WINDOW SNAPING !!! The closest option I found is to reduce it to 3 pixel distance. I HATE THIS FEATURE !!! (sorry for the caps, but I realy hate window snaping).

    3. Any way to turn off Z-buffer ingame ? I know this is not a most wanted feature, but I used it on my office laptop to get the load as low as possible.

    4. Vertical target list !!! HELL YES !!!

further feedback after I get home from work and play a bit longer.

First of all, great job CCP, graphics are breathtaking!! (in general)

Ive got an min frame rate of at least 100 wherever I go and Ive got everything cranked up high, so well pleased with that :)

    Few negative points though...

1.Where did the AA option dissapear to? (Wll have to find out how to force that, and see if it still works, I cant remember)

    2. Whats up with the new Gall colour scheme? Did someone do it at 16:50 on a fri afternoon in a rush to get to the pub? My moros just looks pathetic now. It looks almost.. babyish, for a station killer, the old dark colour scheme suited it perfectly.

    3. Engine exhausts more often that not dont appear at all now, and the gate animations dont work all the time either

    4. WHAT THE HELL HAVE YOU DONE TO THE MINING LASERS!!!!!!!!! I dont know what that pathetic, very brief, string of blue fuzzyness is about, but man, get the old animation back, NOW!!!! The graphics and sound effects are just mind boggelingly awful!! Who the hell thought that was better than the old yellow/amber animation.. They should be fired, or sent to the opticians for new glasses... Was your testing team high when they tested and approved that?? (Was it even tested at all?)

    5. Why the drone cap at 5? It seems rather odd to tell us we have a ship capability of 75Mbits, yet we can only use 25Mbits of it if we using light drones... The drone cap seems out of place now.. Take it out, or get rid of the bandwidth thing, they dont go together... Thats like giving you a car that can do 180mph but limiting it to 50mph

    6. I partially agree with the torp nerf, but I think you went a bit overboard! I agree they needed nerfing a bit to bring them into a similar comparison to blasters and rails etc, ie smaller damage at long range with high damage close up (as they were torps had high dam pretty much anywhere), but I think you went a bit too far. Beef the cruise missile damage up a tad and extend the torp range by about 10km.

In summary, great patch :) Just change the gall colour scheme and FFS change the mining lasers back!!

I've yet to hear any audio at all for engines, mining lasers, or turrets. The graphics section loads pretty well after I lower the cache and drop the shadows.

Has anyone noticed a flicker/freeze when you're undocking? I see it floating out, it freezes for a second or two, then I'm sitting outside the dock not moving.

Overall: great patch. I'm impressed with the server stability. Usually there's at least a day or two of "don't bother to do anything but change skills". New graphics are nice, but it's a good thing I'm a forum ***** and caught that boot.ini problem before going to bed.

Now onto the parts I don't like: the new cloaking effects. Most people will only see these after jumping through a stargate. As a dedicated explorer and fleet scout I can spend hours cloaked and looking at this disco flashing effect is going to give me epileptic seizures. Sad Also the decloak effect is too slow. It's not even half done by the time the sound effect is. I think if it moved at the same speed as the cloaking effect it would be better.

Yea I have to agree with you after seeing a Gallente ship for the first time since Trinity, the texturing seems a little flat. Not as shiny as the Caldari for Example, and needs a darker green I think.
