Thanks CCP for the update. There is no such thing as a patch without bugs and most of us know that. The graphics are beautiful and I'm looking forward to the fixes and additions made to the game. Keep up the good work.

I've only done the basic upgrade but that worked without any problems and I'm back to playing EVE.

Damn that worst thing seen to date.

Without 3D engine FPS is over 20, with 3D engine it is about 2.9 FPS.

CCP, what happened? Where is that "new fast 3D engine utilizing Your Videocard and freeing Your CPU"?

It plainly looks like new content created to be sure we'll go to market and buy new PC's, but it is false idea.

I'd better trow away EVE and return to Lineage2. It have 3D engine with better FPS, than EVE, on wide variety of systems. From bottom to top of all ranks.

It's probably your video card drivers, like i mentioned in the other thread about your Alt+Enter issue. Personally, my fps went up.

Greetings all.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned or discussed but I just felt that it had to be raised.

I am a dedicated miner and spend most of my eve time mining. I am director of mining ops for my corporation. I generally prefer mining over the other aspects of the game. So I download the new client, install the graphics pack and then go to start mining, and what do I get. My ship looks much prettier and I'm impressed. I fly out, everything looks great. I lock on a roid and fire my strip miners and....... frankly I am disgusted.

Strip miners had that glorius thick orange beam and a sound of huge power and what do we get with this huge graphics update? We get screwed.

Miner beams are now 2 pixels wide and alternate between white and blue pixels. You get a tiny pulse of pixels, blue, white, blue white and so on. Thats it. It's smaller, its shorter and frankly now looks like I'm using 8 bit VGA graphics. Its pathetic.

So lets talk about sounds. We had that big booming thrum, made you think that the local power generator is discharging its power. It was without a doubt the most awesome sound in eve. Can you guess what we have now????

The most pitiful annoying sound you've ever heard. It sounds like a hollow tinny midget shouting "oooohhhh, weeeeeeeeeeeeee".

Congratulations to CCP, they have now created the first ever EVE brown noise generator. If you don't know what brown noise is, it's a sound that resonates to a certain frequency that sends yours bowels into involuntary spasms causing you to immediately soil yourself. Thats what the new mining sound is like.

After 5 minutes of that sound I wanted to put my head through my monitor. I now run EVE with my audio disabled because I just can't take hearing that sound ever again.

Way to go to completely ruin the part of the game I enjoy the most. I get that CCP wants this to be a completely PVP game, cause thats all they seem to do with all the updates. Make it more geared to fighting. But seriously, without the miners the economy if this game will simply stop. You can't PVP if you have no ships, you can't get ships if there are no minerals. You can't get minerals without MINERS!!!

Don't screw your own game by alienating parts of the player base. We play eve because we don't want to play another game of nothing but pvp and yet each update this game becomes more about PVP. At this rate in another few updates we're likely to see Mining, Science, Invention and all those other great things removed completely since they detract from the successful annihilation of the other players.

I'm not expecting anything to come by this post. But on behalf of all miners out there I beg of CCP, please take out that god awful sound. The graphics I can live with, but that sound is just too much.

Thankyou.

Sticking to the classic client;

I've been having major crashes and conflicts since the patch. Occasionally the screen will just display random lines all over with colours, then proceed to tell me my display driver has failed. Worse still, sometimes it will just crash entirely and lock up my PC.

Now I thought it could be my GC or some hardware failure on my end, but I managed to duplicate the crashes in the same place. There would be particular grids that I would crash on upon trying to load, on multiple accounts, on the same grid, in the same place.

Other corp mates are having similar issues, please help, it's making PvP a game of "will this grid crash?".

Confused

P.s. I have reinstalled my GC's drivers, updated them also. Uninstalled and resinstalled Eve from scratch.

P.p.s Clearing my cache doesn't help RazzLaughingRazzLaughing

Well...I can say great graphics in the patch........Lousy Quality Control in the boot.ini snafu, whoever is responsible should be booted out the door as it will cost CCP dearly in money andcredibility if they do not honor all damages........and the torpedo debacle, didn't anyone ask for opinions on that one? If so they must have ignored all cause it is one of the dumbest I have seen in 4 years.
I am staying with the classic version until the min er lasers and sounds are put back to their originals.
As usual the miners and manufacturers got the shaft cause we just do our job and are not out there whining and crying for more PVP....we just stay out here and mine to support all the whiners who would not have ships if not for us.......But no one listens to the lot of us and we get +++t.
Oh and thanks for making me spend 2 hrs redoing my screen just to see a damn icon to put my targets back to where they were......once again .....bad QC

oh WHY God, WHY did they ruin the strip miner visuals... WHY!? The new visuals look like a light show, a kid pointing with a blue infra lamp. It's CRAP I tell you, utter CRAP! Please, for the love of GOD change it, or change it back, PLEASE! I might actually quit eve because of this. I love to mine, I live to mine, I don't want to be shooting rocks with pew pew, I want to suck them dry with SWOOOOOSH SWIIIIIH, SWOOOOOOH! *runs off crying*

For around half a gig of downloaded content I expected a lot more than what we recieved. The new look of the ships is somewhat lacking to say the least. Giving them a little metalic shine and adding more lights to everything hardly is a serious upgrade. I could live with the lackluster look of the ships, however, as a miner, I almost went into shock when I saw what the graphics for the stripmining lasers had turned into. They used to be large, powerful, and in a strange way, soothing. Now they're pathetic, and honestly, considering the only reason I play the game is because I enjoy mining, I have to say that now I don't really feel like playing much at all with my tiny pathetic pew pew stripminers. I haven't checked the ice harvesters yet, but I hope nothing has happened to those lovely blue beams.

On another note, I used to be able to run two clients and have the sound for one turned on, and the other off, and when I switched to the second one, or when I alt tabbed to an out of game web browser, I could still hear the sound from the client where the sound was turned on. Now however, once I alt tab out of the client with the active sound to anything else, the sound shuts off. This is a huge disadvantage to me. I can't listen for 'astroid depleted' or the sound of the rats attacking if there's no sound.

All things considered, I want more than just the option to switch the graphics back to classic, I want an options to play the game as it was before the patch.

If it's not broken don't 'fix' it. This expansion broke a lot of things.

there are too many non-balance changes that should require the feedback of the player base before patching to the final release !

I know that everything is reversible. But, that could spare a lot of mess. Or maybe it is visual nerf to add some balance (less miners, less gallente ships ^ ^). I know, i'm paranoid sometimes.

Anyway, while the last fan fest, ccp were proud of his player base communication... Mhhh, sure the com between ccp and us is fine... but... The no-answer about visuals is quite upsetting.

IMO the trinity has been released too fast.

I have a few observations that I hope will actually garner some attention.

First, give us a brightness selector in the game menu. I personally think the game is too damned bright now. These ships look like honda's with all these oddly placed lights and funky paint jobs. (perhaps now we can have selectable skins ? *not custom*)

Second you were doing so well with Amarr, but your job is not done. You gave amarr some usable t2 ships (the khanid) and killed some others (curse and pilgrim). Then you go and release the paladin and redeemer. The redeemer is like most amarr ships the most useless is its class. A 10% reduction in energy turret use ? Why dont you just leave the bonus off ? Its been pointed out many times that if you want to make amarr the 'cap' race that the bonus should *NOT* be weapons dependent, but just a generic bonus. The paladin has this bonus, and looks to be a decent ship, the redeemer however is utterly gimped from day 1.

Second, why would you move away from the Khanid platform ? The khanid ships were the only variants among the entire amarr fleet that were different and fun (after the fixes). Now the amarr have 'more of the same', the same crap that has been broken for AGES, and instead of fixing it you spend 50 man years on making the game shiny. whoopee.

I'd rather play an average looking game with good gameplay and options then a good looking game where 25% of the options are pure neglected crap.

Nice patch and all...one thing I've noticed though with both classic and premium is that I can no longer force a refresh of the overview. This is a really annoying problem when you get 1 or 2 ships stuck there after a few jumps...

I won't get started on the boot.ini issue ugh
Though appearently my ATI Radeon 9600 Atlantis 256mb can't handle the shading effects, at least Eve tells me I can't use the premium graphics Confused
On top of that the whole user interface has gotten damned laggy, moving windows is laggy, clicking stuff is laggy, everything is laggy...I don't like laggy games at all...

Then there is the modules adjustment...which just screwed any non-compression relations for modules...

Lots of tiny bugs I can't even be bothered to count... *sigh*

I'm not happy at all so far...probably cause I don't even get the blingbling graphics to compensate for all the lag and bugs ugh

Well I kind of have mixed feelings about trinity.

On the one hand, the new graphics are nice and the game runs much better.

On the other, the graphics just are not as good as I was expecting from the trailers and pre-release screenshots. I know why it's not as good and I'm fine with it, just a little disapointed.

Overall though, it's great and I'm well pleased Smile

My opinion on the update... Very nice new graphics, I really liked the graphs.

I do have a few comments though.
At first i think the recons(amarr and gallente) are hit very hard by the new nerf. The meaning of an ewar ship is ewar so why nerf the role? I really think they should increase the bonusses for the nerfed recons. I can imagine you nerf it on not ewar ships though. Also I don't like the screens and not be able to disable screens i don't use. My whole screen is filled with screens now. But maybe i will have to figure out how to best place em. Also i noticed that when i undock the game hangs for a bit.. Anyone else sees this?

well those are my 2 cents

I like the graphics that came out, it's really gr8 and drones are a lot better now cuz they don't go just shoot every rat and make them all target me in missions.Surprised

But I also hate what happend to strip miners visual.

this is lame that our cargo holds not grow but the amount of crap we must fit in it does.
first of all i rather not have the new addition of making ew stuff have charges but if it stays how about larger cargo holds because its hard enough to fit you cap charges missiles and gun charges you should already be full but now theres no room to pick up loot but now we get more charges???
or how about making cap charges quarter the size they are now that would work as well.
still does not negate the head ache of charging your ew mods making it so you spend less time in space more time buying charges because who knows how long a full cargo hold of cap and ew and ammo will last and if 1 goes out first then you hope your still not in the mix.

Not sure if this is the place to ask this question but is there any way i can go back to using the old / classic fleet overview ? i really hate the new one as it takes up way to much space on my screen and its a bit tricky moving windows all over the place so i can see everything.

what the hell are you talking about?

scripts take up no space, and you only need 1 MAX 2 (one of each type) permodule. its not like they are consumed.
