Im using OSX 10.5.1 + 2GB ram and Nvidia GeForce 8600 128mb, which should be able to handle anything the Eve throws at it, but the game seems to render rather poorly compared to the screenshots i've seen of the game. Things look jagged, like various light coronas render as simple flat discs (the mining laser for instance, or flying near stars gives a cartoony flat "rainbow" effect). When i slow from warp, the engine trails shoot through my ship out the front briefly. The game screenshots look smooth and rounded compared to this. Also I get scrambled graphical "noise" inside the Map browser and mission details map pane. Planets tend to look plain and grey without much detail (this may be normal, but from what i've seen in the screenshots there are at least some details). Most of the in-station graphics look terrible - very pixelated.

I haven't experienced and crashes or any real slowdowns, but it would be nice to play eve using the full capability of my card. Tweaking the settings doesn't seem to yield any results either.

This is my first time playing it, so I don't know the difference to be sure, but has anybody else noticed this? Will the Trinity release at least get the classic graphics up to snuff?

Yes I've noticed the same thing. I'm running OSX 10.5.1 +4GB ram and Nvidia GeForce 8600 gt 256mb and I see most of the same things your seeing. Not happy with the mac client at all. Going to look into a windows partition.

The cartooney effect on the graphics and the issues with the map, the fitting screen etc are, as far as i know, issues with the mac client, and should get fixed fairly soon. They are certainly not the usual graphics. I have had these issues myself, and they seem to be occurring on and off.
The issues with engine effect trailing has to do with the synchronisation between client and server. It has been there since the start i think, and i don't think that can be easily fixed.
