When I clicked 'update' on my Eve app to run the patch, I got a message that said:

"Some of the files have been modified! Please re-install." My only choice is to then click a quit button which seems to abort the patch.

Wha...? Any ideas? I haven't modified any files. A few weeks ago I used the terminal the fix the display bug in the market as per directions from the devs on these forums. Could this 'modification' be causing the error? I guess I'll just re-download the client, as it looks to be pre-patched anyhow...

edit: the progress bar for the patch is at about 50% when this error appears.

EDIT: Okay, this is weird. Despite the apparent failure of my attempt to patch the client, it now displays the version as 3.23.41736. How can I be sure it was successful? Should I re-install anyway?

Alright. I downloaded a fresh copy of the client via the eve-online download page. Wiped the Eve stuff out of preferences. Wiped the TG plist.

And I still received the same error when attempting the patch. Even if the client I downloaded is prepatched and up to date, receiving this error makes no sense.

Hey CCP, I love Eve so far and plan to subscribe indefinitely, but you and TG have got to understand that Mac users, even those of us comfortable in a terminal, are used to things just working properly. Someone please advise.

I now have confirmation that my patch has been unsuccessful from the "About Eve" menu in OS X. This is now a 100% clean install. I have no idea why the patch fails. Someone please help. Crying or Very sad

Success.

I had to download a clean install of the client. Then I ran the patch without ever opening the Eve client once, as that was the only surefire way I could see to avoid 'modifying' anything. Needless to say, a 'patch' is useless if one has to completely reinstall the client to get it to patch correctly...defeats the purpose after all. Any comments (especially from knowledgeable devs) would be appreciated.

No one else I spoke to had this issue...

sounds like a permission issue. did you check to see if you had write privileges to the directory you installed Eve in?

Oh yeah, it was in my normal apps folder. Read/write, etc. Oh well, seems to have been solved now...
